LG’s OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV is a real 2026 product, not merely a CES concept. Unveiled at CES 2026, it combines a 9mm-class OLED display with a separate Zero Connect Box that sends 4K video and audio wirelessly to the screen. The important catch is that it is not completely cable-free: both the display and the box need power, while consoles, streaming devices and other sources still connect to the box with cables.
What LG unveiled at CES 2026
LG introduced the OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV on January 4, 2026, presenting it as the latest version of the Wallpaper TV concept LG says it first introduced in 2017. LG displayed the television at its CES booth in Las Vegas from January 6 through January 9.

LG describes the W6 as the world’s thinnest “True Wireless” OLED TV. That is a manufacturer claim, and “wireless” refers specifically to the link between the display and its Zero Connect Box—not to the entire installation.

How thin is the W6?
LG rates the panel as 9mm-class thin. The wording matters: it is safer to treat 9mm as a product-class description rather than a guarantee that every part of every screen size measures exactly 9mm.
The slim profile is possible because LG moves connection hardware, processing and inputs into the separate Zero Connect Box. The display is then engineered primarily as a thin panel intended to sit close to the wall. Early secondary coverage compared the W6 with the previous W5, which HotHardware reported at roughly 12.7mm, but that comparison is not a substitute for a complete LG dimension chart.
What “wireless” really means
The system works like this:
Source devices → wired HDMI connections → Zero Connect Box → wireless 4K video and audio link → W6 display

LG says the Zero Connect Box can be positioned up to 10 metres, or approximately 32 feet, from the screen, depending on connection conditions. LG also describes the transfer as visually lossless based on its internal testing.

There are three practical limits:
- The display still needs its own power connection.
- The Zero Connect Box also needs power.
- External devices—including consoles, PCs, streaming boxes, disc players and AV receivers—must connect to the box by wire.
In other words, the W6 removes HDMI and other source cables from the thin panel, but it does not eliminate cabling from the room. Its advantage is that those connections can be concentrated at a more convenient location instead of entering the wall-mounted display.
LG recommends positioning the Zero Connect Box lower than the television’s wireless receiver. Hiding the box inside furniture can also be problematic: cabinet material and thickness may interfere with the signal. Test the intended location before permanently enclosing the unit.
Wall mounting and installation considerations
The W6’s visual appeal depends heavily on installation. LG says its improved wall mount is designed to let the screen sit flush against the wall for a Wallpaper TV effect, but the company also warns that actual fit varies and a slight gap may remain.
Before installation, check:
- Whether the wall can support the television and mount securely.
- Where studs, masonry and electrical wiring are located.
- Whether a power outlet can be placed behind or near the display.
- Where the Zero Connect Box will sit and how its power cable will be routed.
- How HDMI cables will run from consoles, receivers and other equipment to the box.
- Whether furniture or a cabinet could obstruct the wireless signal.
- How the panel could be removed later for servicing.
A professional installation is particularly sensible for a large, very thin panel mounted close to the wall. Promotional images may conceal power cords and cable routes; they should not be treated as a promise that every home installation will look identical to LG’s showroom examples.

Picture technology and brightness claims
The W6 uses LG’s Hyper Radiant Color Technology with Brightness Booster Ultra. LG claims peak luminance of up to 3.9 times that of conventional OLED TVs, based on its internal measurements using a 3% test window.
That does not mean the W6 will be 3.9 times brighter in every scene. Small-window peak brightness, full-screen brightness, sustained HDR performance and real-room viewing are different measurements. Independent testing is still needed to establish how the W6 performs against specific competing televisions.
As an OLED, the W6 should retain the technology’s fundamental strengths, including self-emissive pixels, deep blacks and wide viewing angles. LG also lists Reflection Free Premium. The company says reflectance was independently tested by Intertek using the IDMS 11.2.2 sampling-sphere implementation. The treatment may improve daytime viewing, but no screen is reflection-proof under every lighting condition.

Processor and smart-TV platform
LG lists its Alpha 11 AI Processor 4K Gen3, compared by LG with the previous generation’s Alpha 9 AI Processor Gen8. Processing can assist with upscaling, picture adjustments and sound features, but results depend on the source, picture mode, content and user settings. AI processing is not a guarantee that every low-quality or compressed source will look like native 4K.

The television uses LG’s current webOS smart-TV environment. Specific app support, interface labels and update policies can vary by market and may change over time, so buyers should confirm the software details for their region and retail model.
Gaming features
LG’s product materials list:
- 4K resolution.
- Up to 165Hz refresh rate.
- Variable refresh-rate support.
- NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility.
- AMD FreeSync Premium support.
- A claimed 0.1ms response time.
The 4K/165Hz capability is most relevant to compatible gaming PCs and graphics hardware. It should not be interpreted as a promise that every HDMI source, console or cable will deliver that signal. Current consoles generally do not use 165Hz output in the same way a gaming PC can.
The wireless display link also does not make a source device wireless or guarantee zero latency. The source still connects to the Zero Connect Box, and achievable resolution, refresh rate, variable-refresh performance and latency depend on the source, GPU, cable, input mode and settings. LG’s specifications are useful, but independent testing is needed to verify real-world wireless latency and stability.

Who should consider the W6?
The W6 makes the most sense as a design-led luxury OLED. It is aimed at buyers who value a large, nearly flush wall appearance and reduced visible cabling enough to pay a substantial premium over conventional OLED televisions.
It is a strong candidate for someone who:
- Has the budget for a $5,499.99-and-up television.
- Wants OLED picture quality for films, television and gaming.
- Places a high value on a clean wall installation.
- Can accommodate professional mounting.
- Has a practical, interference-free location for the Zero Connect Box.
- Understands that the installation still requires two powered components and wired source connections.
It is a poor fit for renters who cannot modify their walls, value-oriented buyers, anyone without a convenient location for the box, or shoppers expecting a totally cable-free setup. Buyers who use a television for long periods of static news, desktop work or other fixed imagery should also consider the general image-retention considerations associated with OLED panels.
The unanswered questions
LG’s launch material establishes the design, specifications and company claims, but it does not independently verify several issues that matter in daily use:
- Sustained and full-screen HDR brightness.
- Wireless latency and connection reliability.
- Performance at 4K/165Hz across different input types.
- Power consumption.
- Speaker and acoustic performance.
- The exact wall gap achieved in varied homes.
- Long-term image-retention behavior.
Those results require independent hands-on measurements. Until they are available, the W6 should be judged primarily on its architecture and installation benefits rather than on LG’s headline numbers alone.
Bottom line
LG’s W6 is best understood as an ultra-thin, installation-focused OLED rather than a television that eliminates cables altogether. Its 9mm-class panel, flush-mount design and wireless connection to the Zero Connect Box could create one of the cleanest large-TV installations available. The trade-off is a luxury price, two powered components, wired source devices and more demanding installation planning.
For design-conscious home-theater buyers, that may justify the premium. For everyone else, a conventional LG OLED is likely to deliver a more straightforward route to high-end picture quality.
