LG unveiled the LG Sound Suite ahead of CES 2026, presenting the H7 as what LG calls the world’s first soundbar powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. The announcement, made on December 18, 2025, described a modular wireless home-theater system rather than a single soundbar. It was demonstrated at CES in Las Vegas from January 6–9, 2026.
The practical appeal is flexible placement: compatible speakers are calibrated around their real positions, reducing the need for a perfectly arranged conventional surround system. That does not make room acoustics irrelevant, eliminate power cables, or guarantee the same result as a carefully installed wired theater.

What LG actually unveiled
The Sound Suite consists of four components:

LG says the system can scale from smaller arrangements to a maximum advertised layout of 13.1.7 channels. The channel labels describe the individual products and should not be read as though every Sound Suite package has the same output.
There is also an unresolved discrepancy in LG’s own materials. The original announcement described 27 possible configurations, while a later version of the LG Global newsroom page lists 50. LG does not explain the change, so neither number should be treated as a definitive configuration count.

What Dolby Atmos FlexConnect changes
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is designed to make immersive audio less dependent on exact speaker placement. During setup, compatible speakers are calibrated according to their positions. The system then uses processing to adapt the sound field to the room and speaker arrangement.
That is useful in ordinary living rooms where rear speakers may sit beside furniture, against a wall, or at different distances from the listener. It is not magic, however. FlexConnect cannot turn poor placement into ideal placement, remove reflections and bass problems, or guarantee that every seat sounds identical. It is a processing and calibration system, not a replacement for the acoustical advantages of a carefully measured wired theater.
Two ways to use the Sound Suite

This makes the H7 particularly important for owners of non-LG televisions. The modular speakers are not a universal replacement for the soundbar: cross-brand TV owners should plan around the H7.

Which LG TVs support direct speaker connections?
LG’s current U.S. support information lists these models:
- 2025: OLED G5, OLED C5 and OLED CS5.
- 2026: OLED W6, G6, C6, C6H, CS6, B6, B6E, MRGB95, MRGB9M, MRGB85, QNED91 and QNED84.
LG says a QNED 9M update was planned for the second half of 2026. Availability can vary by country, screen size and firmware, so owners should check the exact model on LG’s U.S. Sound Suite FAQ. LG separately announced a software update enabling FlexConnect on select 2025 G5, C5 and CS5 televisions.
LG’s additional processing features
- Sound Follow: Uses ultra-wideband technology to track the listener’s location and shift the listening sweet spot. It does not physically move the speakers or prove that every seat will sound identical.
- Room Calibration Pro: Analyzes room characteristics and applies processing intended to compensate for room behavior and speaker placement. It cannot eliminate room acoustics.
- AI Sound Pro+: Can up-mix stereo material and separate voices, music and effects.
- Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3: Included in the H7.
- Streaming: LG lists Wi-Fi streaming through the ThinQ app, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. The M7 specification sheet also lists Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6E, a USB-C audio input and 24-bit/96kHz support.
Features listed for the M7 should not automatically be assumed to apply to the H7, M5 or W7.

Wireless does not mean cable-free
The surround speakers and subwoofer use wireless audio connections, but they still need electrical power. An H7-led installation also needs an HDMI connection to the TV, and network setup may be required for grouping and calibration.

- Confirm that all components are connected to the same router and network band.
- Check the router’s 5GHz channel.
- Change it to a recommended non-DFS channel such as 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157 or 161.
- Reconnect the H7, M7, M5 and W7.
- Reboot the router and speakers.
- Retry grouping in the ThinQ app.
LG’s FAQ also said support for more than one W7 was expected through a software update around June 2026. Firmware-dependent features can change, so the current support documentation matters more than the launch presentation.

What the system costs
LG announced U.S. availability through LG.com beginning in January 2026. The listed individual prices are:
- H7 alone: $999.99
- H7 plus W7: $1,599.98
- H7 plus two M7 speakers: $1,799.97
- H7 plus W7 and two M7 speakers: $2,399.96
- H7 plus W7, two M7 speakers and two M5 speakers: $2,899.96
These are calculations from individual U.S. list prices, not official bundle prices. LG later advertised temporary promotions, including H7 at $899, M7 at $349, M5 at $229 and W7 at $549 during specified campaign periods. Promotional prices should not be treated as permanent.

The Sound Suite makes the most sense for an LG-centric buyer who wants to start with a soundbar and add wireless speakers over time. It is also aimed at rooms where conventional rear-speaker placement or long signal cables are inconvenient.

It is a weaker fit for someone seeking the cheapest Dolby Atmos upgrade, a renter with limited power outlets, or a home-theater enthusiast who wants an AV receiver, passive speakers and direct control over delays, crossovers and room correction. Expansion is flexible, but it becomes expensive quickly.
Owners of unsupported LG televisions should also calculate the cost of the H7 rather than assuming they can buy M5 or M7 speakers alone. Direct TV-to-speaker operation without the H7 is limited to supported LG models.
What remains unproven
LG’s announcement and product pages establish the system’s architecture and advertised features, but they do not independently establish tonal balance, bass performance, dialogue clarity, height-channel realism, latency, multiroom reliability or consistency across listener positions. They also do not prove that FlexConnect will outperform a carefully positioned conventional system in every irregular room.
The clearest conclusion is narrower: LG has introduced a modular wireless platform built around the H7, with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect as its central differentiator. Its value depends less on the headline channel count than on whether flexible placement, LG TV integration and incremental expansion justify the price and network requirements.
