LG Gallery TV takes aim at Samsung The Frame—but its Mini LED strategy changes the comparison

LG Gallery TV is now listed in the US. Here’s how its matte Mini LED design, Gallery+ service and included white frame compare with Samsung The Frame.

LG’s Gallery TV is no longer merely “coming.” In the United States, the 2026 LX7B series is listed in 55-inch and 65-inch models, with a matte 4K Mini LED display, LG Gallery+ artwork and an attachable white frame. It is a serious rival to Samsung’s The Frame, but not an OLED version of it: LG has chosen Mini LED LCD technology, while Samsung’s 2025 The Frame uses QLED.

That difference matters for brightness, static artwork, black levels, reflections and long-term ownership. At regular listed prices, the 55-inch LG and Samsung models are positioned similarly; the better choice depends more on your room, art habits and tolerance for subscriptions than on brand loyalty.

The short version

  • LG Gallery TV is now a 2026 product: US listings identify the 55LX7BPUA and 65LX7BPUA.
  • It uses Mini LED/QNED LCD, not OLED, with a matte screen and local Mini LED backlighting.
  • A white attachable frame is included with the US listing; other frame options may cost extra and vary by country.
  • LG Gallery+ combines artwork, ambient content, personal images and AI-generated visuals. LG says the service offers more than 5,000 works, though content and access vary by market and subscription tier.
  • Samsung remains the more established art-TV option, with more size choices and a mature Art Mode and Art Store ecosystem.

LG announced the Gallery TV on December 30, 2025, ahead of CES 2026, and announced the rollout of its broader 2026 Art TV lineup on May 18, 2026. The original “coming soon” framing is therefore outdated. Availability can still differ between direct sales, retailers and countries.

LG’s launch announcement provides the original positioning, while the 55-inch US product page and 65-inch product page contain the current model and purchasing details.

What is LG Gallery TV?

Gallery TV is a television designed to look like wall art when it is not being used for conventional viewing. The LX7B combines a flush-style gallery design, a specialized matte display and a supplied frame intended to make the screen blend into an interior.

Its main features include:

  • 4K resolution and Dynamic QNED Color;
  • Mini LED backlighting with local dimming;
  • a matte screen designed to reduce reflections;
  • automatic brightness control that responds to changing room light;
  • LG’s webOS smart-TV platform;
  • LG Gallery+ artwork and ambient content;
  • a white or “snow-white” attachable frame on the US listing.

LG says Gallery Mode was developed with input from museum curators. That is a manufacturer claim, not independent evidence that the television delivers museum-grade color accuracy or art reproduction.

Why Mini LED changes the comparison

LG’s choice of Mini LED is the most important distinction. Mini LED is still an LCD technology, but it uses many small backlight LEDs and local dimming zones to control brightness more precisely than a basic edge-lit LCD.

Potential advantages

  • Brightness: Mini LED can produce a brighter conventional-TV presentation, which may help in a sunlit room.
  • Static artwork: Unlike OLED, Mini LED does not use organic pixels that can suffer OLED-style burn-in. That makes it a sensible design choice for a screen expected to display still images often, although no television is immune to every form of image retention or hardware failure.
  • Matte-screen pairing: A matte surface can make artwork easier to view under many lighting conditions by reducing mirror-like reflections.

Potential disadvantages

  • Blooming: Local dimming can create halos around bright objects against dark backgrounds.
  • Black levels: Mini LED cannot individually switch off every pixel in the way OLED can, so it does not deliver OLED’s pixel-level black control.
  • Matte trade-offs: Reflection reduction can affect perceived contrast, sharpness or the “sparkle” of highlights compared with a glossy display.

The practical conclusion is not that Mini LED is automatically better than QLED or OLED. It is that LG has prioritized brightness and static-image practicality over the perfect blacks associated with OLED. Independent testing would be needed to judge actual contrast, blooming, color accuracy, motion handling and reflection performance.

Gallery+ versus Samsung’s Art Store

LG Gallery+ is more than a simple slideshow. LG describes it as a combination of curated artwork, photography, ambient content, personal images and AI-generated visuals. Current LG materials refer to more than 5,000 works, while an earlier announcement referred to more than 4,500.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That number should not be treated as a guaranteed advantage. Catalog totals are manufacturer claims, and the available works can change with licensing, country and subscription status. The quality of an art-TV experience also depends on cropping, scaling, brightness behavior and how convincing the artwork looks in your room.

LG says a free or lighter Gallery+ experience is available on supported televisions, while the full service requires a paid subscription through webOS Pay. LG identifies support for televisions released in 2025 or later running webOS 25 or later. Some 2026 rollout promotions included a complimentary three-month subscription in select markets, including the US, but eligibility and expiry dates must be checked when buying. See LG’s Gallery+ support information for service qualifications.

Samsung’s Art Store is the more established counterpart. Samsung says it offers more than 3,000 works, with availability varying by country. Do not assume that every Samsung artwork is always free or that every market uses the same subscription terms; the commercial model can vary by content, model, promotion and region. Personal photos and free content may be the simplest way to use either television without committing to recurring costs.

Prices and value

LG’s US listings show regular prices of $1,299.99 for 55 inches and $1,799.99 for 65 inches. Promotional prices observed on LG.com were $999.99 and $1,199.99 respectively, but those should be treated as time-limited prices rather than permanent street prices. LG’s pages warn that pricing, availability and specifications can change.

Samsung’s 55-inch 2025 The Frame page lists $1,299.99. That makes the two 55-inch models similarly positioned at regular listed prices, while a temporary LG promotion could make the Gallery TV less expensive at a particular time. Compare the exact size, retailer, delivery terms, mounting cost and included accessories rather than comparing an LG sale price with a Samsung list price.

Which one should you buy?

Choose LG Gallery TV if…

  • You want a matte display in a bright room.
  • The television will frequently show static artwork.
  • You prefer Mini LED to OLED for this use.
  • You want a 55- or 65-inch framed display and already like webOS.
  • The current, verified LG price is lower than the equivalent The Frame.
  • You value LG’s larger manufacturer-reported Gallery+ catalog, subject to regional availability.

Choose Samsung The Frame if…

  • You want the more established art-TV product line.
  • You need a 43- or 50-inch option, or simply want more size flexibility.
  • You prefer Samsung’s Art Mode and Art Store ecosystem.
  • The One Connect Box arrangement will make your wall installation easier.
  • You want a broader range of bezel and accessory choices available for your specific model and country.

Choose neither if…

  • Picture quality per dollar matters more than a furniture-like appearance.
  • You will rarely use art mode.
  • You dislike recurring-content subscriptions.
  • The television will sit on a stand rather than being wall-mounted.
  • You expect flagship OLED contrast from the LG Gallery TV.
  • You need a screen substantially larger than 65 inches.

For buyers who want premium LG picture quality rather than a literal framed-TV design, LG’s separate OLED evo G6 is a different type of option. It should not be treated as the same product: it belongs in a premium-TV comparison, not a direct Gallery TV replacement.

Installation and ordering checklist

Before placing an order, verify:

  1. The exact model: US listings identify 55LX7BPUA and 65LX7BPUA.
  2. Stock status: Check whether the page says in stock, preorder or retailer-only availability.
  3. Frame contents: Confirm that the white frame is included and whether your preferred color requires a separate purchase.
  4. Mounting hardware: Confirm whether the bracket is included, what “flush” means for the installation and whether professional mounting costs extra.
  5. Cable routing: Find out where external devices connect and whether that arrangement suits your wall.
  6. Art access: Check which Gallery+ features are free, which require payment and how long any trial lasts.
  7. Total price: Include delivery, mounting, extra bezels and any recurring service cost.
  8. Returns and warranty: Review the retailer’s policy before installing a wall-mounted television.

A matte display reduces reflections; it does not make the screen invisible. Windows, lamps and bright walls can still lower perceived contrast. Likewise, an included frame does not guarantee that the finished installation will look exactly like a hung painting unless the wall, bracket and cable routing are properly prepared.

Verdict

LG has produced a credible alternative to Samsung The Frame, and the product is now beyond the announcement stage. The Gallery TV’s strongest case is its combination of a matte screen, Mini LED brightness, static-art practicality and an included white frame. Samsung remains the safer choice for shoppers who value a proven art-TV identity, a broader size range and a more mature Art Mode ecosystem.

Neither should be bought solely because its art library has the bigger number. Check the artwork available in your country, the subscription terms, the complete installation cost and the current size-specific price. For most buyers, those details will decide the better “art TV” more reliably than the brand name.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
