Lauren Conrad and William Tell’s Pacific Palisades home pairs a light, mostly neutral interior with practical renovations, selective color and spaces designed for gathering. The tour below covers the home featured by MyDomaine, updated May 11, 2022—not the separate Los Angeles residence featured by HGTV in 2015.

What makes this home feel effortlessly Californian?

In MyDomaine’s tour, the effect comes from abundant natural light, a restrained neutral palette and a few soft, washed-out colors. Rather than relying on a complete redesign, Conrad describes working with the home’s existing character and making changes that suit the way the family uses each room. Interior designer Katherine Carter is credited with collaborating on the home.

That approach is less about a universal formula than a balance: keep the rooms clean-looking, add warmth through natural materials and personal objects, and make the layout work for everyday life as well as company.

Kitchen: practical updates and open display

Conrad says she redid the kitchen after moving in, repainting the cabinetry and adding white subway tile and Mystery White marble countertops. She describes the marble as more stain-resistant than Carrara and jokes that she is “a hurricane in the kitchen.” That comparison is her account, not an independent material test.

The tour also shows a La Cornue range, a large island and natural timber open shelves set against the tile where closed cabinetry might otherwise be. The shelves display vintage bottles and antique teacups. The mix keeps useful and decorative items visible, so the open storage is part of the room’s look as well as its function.

Conrad says the kitchen was planned with entertaining in mind: “When you have people over, everyone just ends up in the kitchen … so I thought that [this space] was great not only for entertaining but also for food preparation.”

Dining room: collections within reach

The open shelving continues the connection between kitchen and dining area. Vintage bottles and Conrad’s antique teacup collection give the display a personal quality, while the long dining table supports the home’s hosting-focused layout. The objects are not merely neutral accents; they add character without changing the room’s calm overall palette.

Living room: a quieter room without screens

Conrad says she wanted this room to feel calm and chose neutral fabrics for vintage chairs she found through Chairish, alongside varied whites and faded colors. Its defining feature is how it is used: “I love our living room because there are no electronics in there—just books, instruments, and a Victrola.” The fireplace, conversation and board games make it a retreat from the more active gathering areas.

A brass-and-glass coffee table is among Conrad’s favorite pieces and, she says, has moved with her through multiple homes. It provides a small metallic accent amid the softer fabrics and pale finishes.

Family room: a custom sectional for everyday use

The family or TV room has a large white sectional that the tour describes as custom-built from a photograph Conrad found online. Conrad says William Tell agreed to a white sofa on the condition that it use Sunbrella fabric. The feature does not identify a retail model, so the sectional should be understood as a custom piece rather than a specific product recommendation.

Office and bathroom: useful changes that respect the house

A small office helps Conrad separate work from personal life. In the bathrooms, the tour characterizes updates as practical while retaining architectural character, but does not provide a complete specification list. The principle is consistent with Conrad’s broader description of the house: “I definitely like cleaner-looking spaces, but I think you have to work within the bones of the house.”

Ideas to adapt without copying the house

The tour offers examples to consider, not proof that one finish or layout works for every home. If you are borrowing from its approach, weigh the trade-offs against your own routines and the architecture you already have.

  • Preserve before replacing: Identify existing details worth keeping, then decide which changes will improve how a room works.
  • Choose open shelves deliberately: Timber shelves can add warmth and make collections visible, but they also put stored items on display; use them where you are comfortable with that upkeep and visual activity.
  • Match surfaces to your cooking habits: Conrad’s preference for Mystery White over Carrara reflects her own experience. It is not a guarantee of performance for another household or a substitute for checking the specific stone and its care requirements.
  • Give different rooms different jobs: The electronics-free living room is a deliberate contrast to the family TV room, while the kitchen and dining area accommodate food preparation and guests.
  • Use color with restraint, not as a rule: Neutrals and pale accents create the tour’s calm impression, but personal collections and objects supply much of its warmth.

Conrad’s stated preference for gathering spaces also informs the layout. She says, “I think when you’re in L.A., it’s nice to sort of step away to a place that’s a little quieter at the end of the day.” The contrast between sociable rooms and a quieter retreat is a useful design idea even when the materials and furnishings differ.

Which Lauren Conrad home is this?

This is the Pacific Palisades home profiled by MyDomaine. HGTV’s 2015 feature concerns a different Los Angeles home associated with The Hills, which it describes as Spanish-style and includes a guesthouse. Those details should not be attributed to the Pacific Palisades tour.

MyDomaine’s feature was updated May 11, 2022, so furnishings, availability and the home’s present status may have changed. Conrad’s October 6, 2021 announcement of LC Lauren Conrad Home described California coastal inspiration and directed shoppers to Kohl’s at the time; it does not establish what is currently in stock.
