What did GHMC approve?
The approval reported in early October 2026 was by GHMC’s Standing Committee. Telangana Today said the committee approved a single elevated corridor under H-CITI, described as running from NFCL Junction near Punjagutta to Jubilee Hills Check Post. It also reported that Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan chaired the committee and directed officials to prepare new designs and cost estimates. Telangana Today

So, “approved” refers to the Standing Committee’s approval of a proposal—not confirmation that every design, cost, government approval or construction schedule is settled.

Where is the proposed corridor, and why do reports differ?
The broad area is consistent across accounts: the proposal concerns an elevated connection around KBR Park between the Jubilee Hills Check Post area and NFCL Junction. The reported endpoints and intermediate sections, however, are not fully reconciled.
- Telangana Today described a single corridor from NFCL Junction near Punjagutta to Jubilee Hills Check Post.
- The New Indian Express described steel flyover sections from Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction to Mugdha Junction, then Mugdha Junction to Muffakham Jah College, plus a connecting ramp to Banjara Hills Road No. 1.
- Hyderabad Mail’s 5 October report gave a 4.3 km route from Jubilee Hills Check Post to NFCL Junction and described the scheme as a six-lane, bidirectional corridor.
Because these descriptions do not line up into one clearly documented alignment, the 4.3 km figure and the detailed section-by-section route should be attributed to Hyderabad Mail’s 5 October account, rather than treated as a confirmed final design. The reports reviewed do not provide a primary design drawing that resolves the differences.

What is the reported cost?
Hyderabad Mail reported a Rs 1,090 crore total for the proposed project and broke it into two EPC packages. These figures are that report’s account, not confirmation of a finalized estimate.

There is a material qualification: Telangana Today and The New Indian Express also reported Rs 1,090 crore in connection with the KBR-area works or revised estimate, while Hyderabad Mail’s 4 October report said cost and other details would be finalized after designs. The reports do not establish whether every use of Rs 1,090 crore refers to precisely the same project scope.

How does the revised proposal relate to the earlier KBR works?
The New Indian Express reported that the state sanctioned an earlier plan for multi-directional flyovers and underpasses in October 2024 at an estimated Rs 826 crore, later revised to Rs 1,090 crore. It said the revised proposal replaces several junction-level structures with longer elevated sections. This is the newspaper’s account of the project history; the underlying sanction and design documents are not included in the accounts cited here.
Telangana Today reported that GHMC had taken up KBR-area flyover and underpass works worth Rs 1,090 crore, with a planned completion period of two years, but said the status of those works was unclear. That two-year period was reported for the earlier works, not confirmed as a schedule for the revised corridor.

What remains before construction can be treated as settled?
Officials were reported to be preparing revised designs and cost estimates, and The New Indian Express said additional state and GHMC-level consideration remained after the Standing Committee decision. The available reports do not establish a final alignment, a completed detailed design, a settled project-wide cost or a confirmed construction completion date.
The New Indian Express also reported that a stay order restrained tree-felling within an Eco-Sensitive Zone around KBR Park and that felling and translocation had been put on hold. The reports reviewed do not include the underlying court order or environmental record, so this should be understood as reported project context rather than a complete account of the legal or environmental position.

What does the proposal mean for traffic around KBR Park?
Congestion relief and more direct travel are intended benefits of an elevated route, but the reports reviewed provide no named traffic study or measured benefit figures. Claims about shorter journeys, queues, fuel use or savings should not be read as demonstrated results.
The New Indian Express reported that Hyderabad Traffic Police introduced a clockwise one-way arrangement around KBR Park in August 2026 to facilitate construction and manage traffic, with officials considering whether to make it permanent. That is reported context, not a verified current route instruction; check current traffic-police notices before travelling.
