JRM Construction West’s recent Los Angeles work shows how a commercial general contractor can deliver highly finished food-and-beverage and retail spaces under demanding design and schedule constraints. A Nespresso boutique completed at Westfield Century City on October 16, 2026, is the clearest example: the compact store combines customer experiences, specialty equipment and intricate architectural finishes, while other Los Angeles projects demonstrate JRM’s ability to build repeatable restaurant infrastructure and complete fast-turn retail programs.

Nespresso boutique combines hospitality programming with intricate construction

JRM Construction West announced completion of a Nespresso boutique at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles on October 16, 2026. The project team named in the completion release included Valerio Architects, ACIES Engineering and Ludwig Structural Consulting.

The store is designed as more than a conventional retail counter. Its customer program includes a self-guided tasting and discovery area, coffee roasting and mini masterclass experiences, accessory engraving, capsule recycling, seating and a dedicated coffee bar. Those functions require coordinated power, plumbing, ventilation, lighting and millwork in a relatively small footprint.

JRM’s construction scope also included an oversized-glass storefront, tight-radius curved walls, curved gypsum-board ceilings, smooth plaster finishes and integrated lighting. Each element raises the tolerance requirements for layout, substrate preparation, finish quality and coordination between trades. John Jackson, JRM West’s vice president and managing director, described the assignment this way: “The Nespresso boutique brought together complex architectural details and specialized building systems within a compact, highly finished space.”

Why the Century City build-out is technically demanding

  • Curved geometry: Tight-radius walls and curved ceilings require carefully coordinated framing, board installation and finishing so transitions remain continuous rather than faceted.
  • High-visibility finishes: Smooth plaster, integrated lighting and large areas of glass leave little room to hide uneven surfaces, out-of-plane conditions or poorly aligned reveals.
  • Food-and-beverage systems: Roasting, beverage service, tasting and recycling functions must be integrated with the building’s utilities while preserving the customer-facing layout.
  • Compact sequencing: Multiple specialty trades have to work in a constrained area without damaging completed finishes or delaying inspections and commissioning.

Other Los Angeles retail and restaurant build-outs

L.A. Business First’s company listing also reports JRM retail build-outs for Joe & The Juice locations in Culver City and Santa Monica. Those projects included full commercial kitchens, trenching, new plumbing, millwork, upgraded restrooms and modern lighting.

The scope is significant because restaurant conversions often combine demolition, below-slab or in-floor utility work, health-related plumbing requirements, equipment connections and customer-area finishes. Trenching and new plumbing must be coordinated before floors and millwork are closed up; kitchen equipment, ventilation and electrical work then have to align with the final layout. Upgraded restrooms and lighting add separate inspection, accessibility and finish obligations.

Chagee’s first U.S. location was delivered in 14 weeks

The 2026 Los Angeles Business Journal CRE Awards recap identifies JRM Construction West as general contractor for Chagee’s first U.S. location at Westfield Century City. The recap reports a 14-week delivery period.

That project included high ceilings, wall millwork fins, customer seating and an outdoor seating area. Delivering those elements on a 14-week schedule requires early release of long-lead materials, reliable design decisions and tightly managed handoffs between demolition, utilities, interiors, storefront work and final inspections. The published duration is a project-specific result, not a promise that every retail build-out can be completed in 14 weeks.

How JRM’s project-management role spans the full build

JRM’s Los Angeles senior project manager job description outlines the controls expected from preconstruction through closeout. The responsibilities provide a useful picture of how the company manages complex commercial work.

Management area What the role covers Why it matters on retail projects
Preconstruction and procurement Planning, procurement and submittals Material selections and approvals can be aligned with the design and long-lead equipment before field work is blocked.
Trade coordination Subcontractor coordination and construction project software Architectural details, kitchen systems, utilities and specialty installations can be tracked in one coordinated workflow.
Schedule control Schedules, milestones and progress management Sequencing protects opening targets and prevents one delayed trade from disrupting every downstream activity.
Commercial control Change orders, budgets, forecasting and billing Owners receive visibility into scope changes, committed costs and projected final cost.
Risk, quality and compliance Risk management, quality control and compliance High-finish interiors and public-facing food service spaces need documented inspections and corrective action before turnover.
Closeout Closeout coordination Final documentation, outstanding corrections and turnover requirements are completed instead of left to the opening team.

What these projects indicate about JRM Construction West

Taken together, the Los Angeles examples point to a contractor suited to commercial interiors where design precision and building systems matter as much as basic construction. The evidence covers three useful capability areas:

  1. Specialty-system coordination: The Nespresso boutique combines experiential coffee functions with complex architectural detailing, while the Joe & The Juice work includes commercial kitchens and new plumbing.
  2. High-finish execution: Curved gypsum-board ceilings, tight-radius walls, smooth plaster, integrated lighting, oversized glass and detailed millwork are all visible to customers and therefore quality-critical.
  3. Fast, site-specific delivery: Chagee’s reported 14-week completion demonstrates rapid delivery on that assignment, while the other projects show the ability to manage different scopes across Los Angeles locations.

JRM’s official company description says its dealings with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and employees are rooted in transparency and honesty and emphasizes a unified-team approach. A Built In Los Angeles directory listing accessed in 2026 reports 1,000 total employees. The company’s own about-page counters display placeholder values rather than usable figures, so those counters do not establish additional experience, ownership, ranking or staffing statistics.

Questions to ask when evaluating a commercial construction manager

Owners comparing firms for a retail or restaurant program can use the Los Angeles examples as a practical checklist. Ask for evidence of completed projects with similar specialty systems, the proposed process for submittals and long-lead procurement, the way change orders and forecasts are reported, and the controls used to protect finish quality. For multi-site programs, request a clear explanation of how standards, approved details and lessons from one location are carried into the next without ignoring site-specific conditions.

It is also worth confirming who will coordinate architects, engineers, landlords, utilities, health and building authorities, equipment vendors and subcontractors. JRM’s project-manager requirements specifically include schedules, milestones, budgets, billing, risk, quality, compliance and construction project-management software, all of which are central to that coordination.
