Inside the Montecito Mansion Featured in Netflix’s Harry & Meghan

The Montecito mansion featured as a filming location in Netflix’s Harry & Meghan was not the couple’s home. Realtor.com identified the property as 888 Lilac Drive and reported that its original $33.5 million asking price was later reduced before it sold for $25.95 million in April 2026. Harry and Meghan bought a different Montecito estate in 2020.

Which Montecito mansion appeared in Harry & Meghan?

The series’ central filming location was 888 Lilac Drive, a Spanish-style estate in Montecito, California, according to Realtor.com’s May 2026 report. The Sacramento Bee reported that the production filmed mostly at a Montecito mansion about four miles from where the couple actually lived.

That distinction matters: 888 Lilac Drive was the backdrop, not a residence owned or occupied by Harry and Meghan. The couple’s own Montecito home is a separate property.

What happened to the mansion’s $33.5 million price?

The widely repeated $33.5 million figure was the filming property’s original asking price, not the Sussexes’ purchase price and not its eventual sale price. Realtor.com reported this price history:

Milestone Reported price and date
Original listing $33.5 million asking price when the property came to market in August 2021, as reported by Realtor.com in May 2026.
Relisting $29.99 million asking price when it was relisted in April 2024, according to Realtor.com’s May 2026 report.
Reported sale $25.95 million sale price on April 21, 2026, according to Realtor.com.

These are reported listing and transaction figures for 888 Lilac Drive. They should not be read as an appraisal, a measure of the couple’s wealth, or a price paid by the Sussexes.

What is known about 888 Lilac Drive?

Published descriptions portray a large Mediterranean-style property with substantial grounds and extensive amenities. Realtor.com described it as 13,600 square feet in 2026; Forbes described it as 13,599 square feet in 2023. These are the publications’ reported figures, not measurements independently verified here.

Forbes’ January 2023 account described the estate as sitting on two acres, with ocean and mountain views, terraces, arched windows, and a great room with a large chandelier. Its reported amenities included a pool, hot tub, bar, gym, game room, theater, and guest house, as well as vegetable beds, a citrus orchard, banana trees, and a chicken coop. The Sacramento Bee also described features including a colonnade overlooking the pool, a wood-paneled library, fireplaces, meditation and massage spaces, and a dining room with a silver-leaf ceiling.

Room counts vary across published accounts: Forbes called it a six-bedroom home in 2023, while Realtor.com reported four bedrooms and six bathrooms in 2026. The counts are attributable to those respective reports and should not be treated as a single confirmed specification.

Realtor.com’s 2026 story also repeated listing language promoting solar power, a generator, greywater irrigation, a private well, gardens, and an organic vegetable bed. Those descriptions do not establish the property’s measured energy use or independently verified environmental performance.

How does it differ from Harry and Meghan’s own Montecito home?

The Los Angeles Times reported in August 2020 that the couple purchased a separate Montecito property for $14.65 million, citing real-estate sources and property records. The Times described that estate as a seven-acre property with an approximately 14,500-square-foot main house, nine bedrooms, and a two-bedroom guesthouse.

Those figures describe the Sussexes’ residence, not 888 Lilac Drive. The filming mansion’s reported 13,599- or 13,600-square-foot size and two-acre grounds belong to the property associated with the series; the larger acreage and residence details belong to the separate home reported by the Times.
