Movable Roots’ Elmore is a custom, 42-foot bumper-pull tiny home that uses lofts, built-in storage and full-size residential features to fit more into a narrow footprint. New Atlas reported just under 500 square feet of floor area and sleeping space for as many as seven, but that is a reported capacity—not a guarantee of comfortable everyday occupancy. Its current price, availability and towing weights are not established by the available reporting.
What is the Elmore tiny home?
The Elmore is a custom tiny home/RV built by Movable Roots. New Atlas reported that it measures 42 feet long by 8 feet 6 inches wide, rides on three axles and has just under 500 square feet (46.5 square meters) of interior area. Those are figures reported in the publication’s October 20, 2024 feature, not independently verified current specifications. New Atlas’s Elmore feature describes two entrances, a screened porch, a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, a ground-floor bedroom and two lofts.
How does the layout use its space?
Storage built into the circulation
The stairs to the front loft include drawers, turning space that would otherwise be used only for access into storage. The bedroom also has in-wall storage. These choices make storage part of the structure rather than relying only on freestanding cabinets.
Residential features in a narrow footprint
New Atlas describes a full kitchen, a full-size residential refrigerator, a stacking washer and dryer, a walk-in shower and a residential toilet. The washer and dryer sit beside the refrigerator. A screened porch extends the living area outdoors, although it does not add to the reported interior floor area.

Lofts trade headroom for sleeping surfaces
The front loft is reported to fit a queen bed, but its ceiling is low. The rear loft, reached by ladder, is reported to accommodate three twin beds. The ground-floor bedroom provides another sleeping area. New Atlas says the home could sleep seven; that number describes the reported sleeping arrangement, not how many people can comfortably live, move around or spend time together in the home while awake.
What the reported details do—and do not—establish
New Atlas counted four mini-split systems connected to one outdoor condenser and noted an RV-style 50-amp electrical connection and a fresh-water hookup. These are observations from the feature, not verified technical specifications or a complete account of the home’s utility requirements.

The same article reported a price of US$225,000 on October 20, 2024. That historical figure does not establish today’s price or whether the custom build is currently available. The available reporting also does not establish an official builder floorplan, loaded weight, dry weight or hitch weight.

Length and sleeping capacity alone are not enough to determine whether a bumper-pull home is suitable for a particular tow vehicle or site. The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center’s 2022 trailer-safety guidance reproduces an NHTSA pre-departure checklist and explains that GVWR is a vehicle’s maximum operating weight, including people and cargo, while GCWR is the maximum combined weight of the tow vehicle, passengers, cargo and trailer with its cargo.

- Get the specific unit’s verified dry and loaded weights, hitch weight, and applicable ratings from the builder or seller. Do not infer these from the Elmore’s length or axle count.
- Confirm the tow vehicle’s GVWR, GCWR, hitch rating and other applicable limits against the actual loaded trailer and tow setup.
- Before travel, check vehicle and trailer maintenance, tire pressure, wheel hardware, hitch and coupler connection, wiring, lights, brakes, secured cargo, load balance, mirrors and route restrictions.
- Use wheel chocks and jack stands as appropriate when parked or carrying out setup work.
In the Army article, 1st Sgt. Robert Jenkins of the 2nd Battalion, 199th Regiment (RTI), Camp Beauregard, Louisiana, cautions: “Towing a trailer can be dangerous if you don’t understand how the added weight and length can affect your vehicle’s handling.” The article’s separate example—a 42-foot, triple-axle toy hauler weighing 16,000 pounds and standing 13 feet tall—is Jenkins’ own trailer, not the Elmore, and should not be used to estimate the Elmore’s weight or height.
