Jennifer Aniston reportedly bought Oprah Winfrey’s Montecito home in 2022 for $14.8 million—the figure rounded to $15 million in the original headline. Reports describe a 4,320-square-foot Mediterranean-style house with four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, terraces and landscaped grounds. Later coverage documented renovation work, including a pool, but does not establish that the project is complete or that Aniston has moved in.
What is known about the purchase?
Architectural Digest reported on September 9, 2022, that Aniston bought the house from Oprah Winfrey for $14.8 million. That is a reported transaction price, not an appraisal or an official tax assessment.

The property had been part of a roughly one-acre estate Winfrey acquired in 2021 for a reported $10.5 million. Architectural Digest says the estate included the main house and two cottages, and reports that the cottages were sold separately to Bob Greene for $2.3 million. The account says the division into two sales was not entirely clear; the cottage sale price should not be added to Aniston’s reported purchase price.
What does the house look like from the available reports?
Architectural Digest describes the house as Mediterranean-style and says it was referred to as a “Tuscan farmhouse.” Its reported specifications are 4,320 square feet, four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. The setting is described as having ocean and mountain views, multiple terraces, landscaped gardens, mature oaks and a long gated driveway.

Those details offer a picture of the property’s scale and setting, not a room-by-room tour. Architectural Digest noted that detailed interior information was limited. A later Architectural Digest portfolio article says Aniston gave fans a glimpse of the home while getting ready for the September 2024 Emmy Awards; its brief description mentions hand-painted wallpaper, silk rugs and floor-to-ceiling windows, but does not make clear that those features belong to the Montecito property. They should not be treated as confirmed finishes in this house.
What has changed during renovation?
Later reporting described work on the property, including the addition of a pool and changes to exterior windows and patio areas. Realtor.com reported that Aniston continued to live at her Bel Air residence while work was underway and said it was unclear whether she would make Montecito her main residence afterward. SFGate also described pool and landscaping work and multiple structures on the property. These reports document renovation activity at the time; they do not establish that the work is now finished or reveal Aniston’s current living arrangements.

What can Aniston’s design comments tell us?
In a 2018 Architectural Digest feature about her Bel Air home, Aniston said, “If I wasn’t an actress, I’d want to be a designer. I love the process.” She also said, “Sexy is important, but comfort is essential.” These are useful context for her general design sensibility, but she was discussing the Bel Air project—not the Montecito farmhouse.
