Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) resumed demolition in Musakhedi on Friday, October 9, 2026, beginning the removal of 130 houses reportedly obstructing RE-2 road construction. The Times of India reported that the operation involved IMC, the Revenue Department and police, and that affected families had been shifted after flats were allotted to them.
Where and why the demolition drive resumed
The operation took place in Musakhedi, Indore. According to The Times of India’s October 10, 2026 report, the houses stood in the way of RE-2 road construction. The report does not identify the precise road segment, street boundaries or chainage covered by the October 9 drive.

How many houses and which agencies were involved
The report says removal began for 130 houses. It describes a joint operation involving the Revenue Department, IMC and police under local revenue officials. This count refers to the Musakhedi operation reported on October 10; it is distinct from an earlier clearance action on another RE-2 stretch.

No specific official confirmation of the operation or rehabilitation terms is available in the cited coverage.

How the Musakhedi drive relates to earlier RE-2 clearance
A separate Times of India report published October 7, 2026 covered a clearance along the Bengali Square–Pipliyahana stretch. It said 58 unauthorised temporary structures were removed there. The report attributed to SDM Ghanshyam Dhangar figures of 4.25 km for the road’s total length, 3.2 km constructed, and an approximate project cost of ₹55 crore. These are figures reported at that time, not independently verified current project records. The 58 structures and the 130 Musakhedi houses are separate reported counts and should not be combined.
What remains unspecified
- The exact boundaries of the Musakhedi demolition area.
- The number of households shifted, the flats’ location and the allocation terms.
- The construction work planned after clearance and its completion schedule.
The October 10 report provides no post-clearance construction timetable.
