To turn off Delay Start, press the dishwasher’s Delay Start button repeatedly until the hour display disappears. That clears the scheduled start without canceling the wash cycle. Holding START for about three seconds is different: it cancels the entire cycle, including the delay, and the dishwasher may drain.
Clear the delay without canceling the wash

Find the Delay Start button on the control panel.

Press it repeatedly until the displayed number of hours disappears. Samsung’s Canada guidance describes this as the way to cancel the Delay Start feature: Samsung’s guide to dishwasher cycles and settings.

Check the display to confirm the delay is no longer shown. If you want the dishwasher to begin now, leave the wash cycle selected and follow the usual start procedure for your model.
The button’s label, display and delay increments vary across models. Samsung says some models use one-hour increments and others use three-hour increments; consult your model’s manual if the panel or behavior differs from these steps.

Choose between clearing the delay and canceling the cycle

Use the first option if you only want to remove the waiting period. Use the second if you want to stop the selected wash altogether. Samsung’s cancellation and troubleshooting instructions are available in its Canada support guide and Gulf troubleshooting guide.
If the dishwasher still does not start
Delay Start is one possible reason a dishwasher appears not to start, but clearing it does not diagnose other faults. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance also lists Child Lock, a door-latch problem, electrical or water supply issues, and error codes as possible causes. Check the model-specific manual and address any displayed error according to Samsung’s instructions rather than assuming the delay control is the problem.

Model and regional differences
Samsung’s instructions are not identical across every dishwasher or market. For example, its UK guide covers the DW50R40*, DW6*M*, DW60A60*, DW6*R70* and DW60A80* model families, with a delay of up to 24 hours on those specified models. It also says that, after the dishwasher has started, changing the delay requires powering the appliance off and restarting it. These UK instructions should not be treated as universal; check the manual for your exact model. Samsung’s UK Delay Start guide is dated 12 April 2023.
Panel layouts can also differ. Samsung Australia provides a separate freestanding dishwasher panel guide; use the documentation for your model if the controls do not match.
