If your Lasko fan has stopped working, switch it off, unplug it for 10–15 minutes, then plug it directly into a working wall outlet—ideally in another room. Lasko advises against using an extension cord or surge protector. If the fan still will not run, check the exact model’s manual or contact Lasko support; do not open the housing or try to replace the fuse built into the plug.
Try these external checks first
- Switch the fan off and unplug it. Leave it disconnected for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect it and try again. This is Lasko’s reset guidance: How to reset your Lasko fan.
- Test a different wall outlet. Plug the fan directly into an outlet you know works, preferably in another room. Lasko says not to use an extension cord or surge protector with its fans.
- Check the controls. If your fan uses a remote, check that its batteries are installed in the correct orientation and replace them if needed. Remote controls and troubleshooting steps vary by model, so consult the manual rather than assuming every Lasko fan works the same way.
Check the manual for your exact model
Find the model number on the fan and use it to locate the matching instructions through Lasko’s product manuals. The manual can confirm the controls and any model-specific troubleshooting steps. Lasko’s support page also provides routes for support requests, warranty information, and replacement parts.
Do not open the fan or replace its plug fuse
Lasko’s guidance is to keep the housing and motor closed. The fuse built into the safety plug is not intended to be replaced; do not bypass or tamper with it. If the reset and outlet checks do not restore operation, stop troubleshooting and contact Lasko rather than attempting an internal electrical repair. See Lasko’s explanation of the fuse in the plug.
When cleaning may be relevant
Cleaning is not a substitute for the reset and power checks when a fan has stopped electrically. Follow your model’s manual before cleaning. For example, the T48335 manual says to unplug the fan and use a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove lint and dirt inside it. It also says to keep the fan away from water and avoid alcohol and harsh solvents. Those instructions are specific to that model; confirm the guidance for yours in Lasko’s manuals.
