Start by identifying the bike’s exact model number and version on its identification label. “Tour de France” covers several ProForm models with different manuals and parts, so use the matching official manual and product diagram before opening the bike or ordering anything. Diagnose the fault first; do not treat an undocumented console or control-board hack as a universal repair.

Find your exact model before you repair it

Look for the identification label on the bike and record both the model number and version. Photograph the label so you can check the details while looking up service information. The model name alone is not enough to identify compatible parts.

ICON’s official catalog has distinct records for the Tour de France CTC (PFEX68919, version 0), CLC (PFEX73920, version 1), CBC (PFEX39420, version 0), Pro TC (PFEX79920, version 1), and Le Tour de France models PFEX01416 (version 0) and PFEX01311 (version 2). Their manuals, diagrams, and listed components differ.

  1. Open the official CTC parts and manuals page, CLC page, CBC page, Pro TC page, PFEX01416 page, or PFEX01311 page that matches your label.
  2. Download the manual and product diagram listed for that exact model. Use the manual for assembly or inspection guidance and the diagram to identify the component and its part number.
  3. Describe the symptom and inspect only as the matching manual permits. If a part appears damaged or faulty, confirm its part number against the diagram before contacting support or searching for a replacement.
  4. Before purchasing, check that the listing matches the complete model number and version, and confirm current availability.

Manuals and parts pages are model-specific; selecting a page because its title also says “Tour de France” does not establish that its parts fit your bike.

How to approach a resistance or incline problem

Resistance or incline trouble can have more than one cause. User discussions mention bikes with incline behavior, console-button failures, or boot problems, but these anecdotes do not diagnose another bike—even one with a similar symptom.

For a resistance fault, compare the suspected component with the parts diagram for your exact model. ICON’s CTC and CLC pages both list a resistance cable as part 414622. That shared listing is useful only if your bike is one of those models and the diagram confirms the match; it does not establish fit for every Tour de France variant. The CTC page showed the cable out of stock when accessed, and stock can change. Check the current listing before relying on availability.

Do not assume that a resistance or incline complaint calls for the same part, adjustment, or repair on every model. If the manual does not cover the inspection you are considering, or you cannot identify the component confidently, contact support with the model/version and a clear description of the fault rather than improvising a disassembly or wiring procedure.

Can you replace the console or connect the bike to workout software?

Hobbyists have discussed alternative consoles and integrations with workout software, including Zwift. The available forum reports concern particular bikes and hardware or firmware revisions; they do not establish compatibility for an unidentified ProForm model, a manufacturer-approved procedure, or a reliable way to retain resistance and incline controls.

Do not buy a replacement console or attempt a control-board bypass based only on the Tour de France name or another owner’s wiring description. Confirm the exact model and parts diagram first. Treat an unofficial modification as a separate electronics project—not a substitute for diagnosing the original fault—and do not short or bypass controls on the strength of an unverified account.

Repair or modify: choose based on evidence for your model

Option What supports it What it does not establish
Repair with the matching manual and diagram Official model pages provide manuals and model-specific parts information. A symptom alone does not identify the failed component.
Replace a listed part The CTC and CLC pages list resistance cable 414622. That part number is not confirmed for every Tour de France bike; availability may change.
Use an alternative console or control-board modification Forum users describe experiments on particular hardware and firmware versions. The reports do not verify a universal wiring method, safe bypass, or compatibility with your bike.
