There is no single stand-removal method for every Samsung monitor. Depending on the model, the stand may release with a button, require screws, or slide or pull away in a specific direction. The safest approach is to identify the exact model number, download its manual, unplug and protect the display, then follow the model-specific “Removing the stand” or wall-mount diagram.
Before you begin
First decide what you are removing. A Samsung desktop assembly normally has several separate parts:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Base: the foot that rests on the desk.
- Stand neck: the upright section attached to the base.
- Stand-to-monitor bracket: the connection at the rear of the display.
- Optional cover or cable holder: a cosmetic or cable-management component that may hide fasteners.
“Removing the stand” may mean taking off only the base or removing the complete desktop stand from the monitor. These are different procedures.
Find the exact model number
Look for the model code on the rear label, original box, receipt, existing manual, product-registration records, or the monitor’s on-screen information menu where available. Do not rely only on the screen size, product nickname, or appearance. Similar Samsung monitors can use different release mechanisms and different mounting hardware.

Use the model code to search Samsung’s monitor support page for the correct manual and downloads. Check the complete code, including regional suffixes such as /US or /ZA.
Gather the right equipment
- A correctly sized Phillips screwdriver if the stand is screw-mounted
- A thick, clean, non-abrasive blanket or the original protective foam
- A small container for screws
- A phone or camera to record cable routing and screw locations
- A second person for a large, curved, heavy, or ultrawide monitor
Shut down the connected computer, turn off the monitor, unplug its power cable from the wall, and disconnect video, USB, audio, and other cables. Allow a hot display to cool. Clear a large, stable work surface before moving it.

The original packaging is the best support. Place the protective foam on the work surface and follow the orientation shown in the manual.
If the foam is unavailable, use a thick, clean blanket. Place the monitor face down only if the model’s manual permits it, and support it evenly. Never rest the display on its screen, bezel edge, joystick, control button, cable connector, or another protruding part. Support the lower corners or edges without pressing directly on the panel. Samsung manuals include stand-removal instructions that specify protective Styrofoam or a thick mat for this purpose.
For a large or curved display, have another person support the monitor while you release the stand. Do not carry the monitor by the stand alone.
Identify the stand mechanism
With the rear or underside visible, inspect the lower center of the monitor and the stand joint. Look for one of these designs:

- Release button: a marked button, tab, or recessed latch.
- Screw-mounted joint: one or more visible screws, sometimes beneath a cover.
- Slide or pull-release joint: a bracket that separates only in the direction shown by an arrow in the manual.
- Separate base and neck: a base screw, thumbscrew, tab, or slide rail that must be released before the neck is detached.
Do not pull upward or twist the stand until you know which mechanism your model uses.
Step-by-step removal
1. Remove the base from the stand neck, if necessary
Hold the stand neck securely. Look underneath the base for a captive thumbscrew, Phillips screw, locking tab, push button, or slide-in rail.
- Remove or loosen the base screw if one is present.
- Press the locking tab or release button if required.
- Slide or pull the base in the direction shown in the manual.
- Keep the base and its fastener together in a labeled container.
Samsung Smart Monitor setup instructions show that the base-to-neck connection can use a separate connecting screw. Removing the base does not necessarily release the neck from the monitor.
2. Inspect the stand-to-monitor joint
Check for a release-button arrow, recessed latch, visible screws, a removable cosmetic cover, or a slide-in bracket. Some VESA holes may remain hidden until the stand bracket is removed.
3. Release a button-operated stand
- Support the monitor or stand neck with one hand.
- Press, raise, or hold the release button exactly as shown in the manual.
- Lift or slide the stand in the indicated direction.
- If it moves slightly and catches, stop and check whether the button is fully engaged or a second latch remains locked.
Samsung’s S-series service documentation shows models where the stand button is raised before the stand is lifted in the specified direction. That procedure applies only to the models covered by the relevant documentation, not to every Samsung monitor. See the S-series service manual for its model-specific examples.
4. Remove a screw-mounted stand
- Choose a screwdriver bit that fits the screw head fully.
- Press straight down firmly while turning to prevent cam-out.
- Remove every stand-retaining screw, including any concealed beneath a cover.
- Store the screws separately and label them.
- Lift the stand only after confirming that no fastener remains.
One S-series service-manual entry for the S70A identifies two screws and lists them as M4 × L14. That is a model-specific example, not a universal Samsung monitor screw size.

5. Release a slide- or pull-operated stand
Some older or unusual Samsung monitors separate when the neck is pulled away from the display or the base in a particular direction. The movement may be upward, downward, toward the rear, or along a short rail. Follow the arrow in the exact manual. Do not substitute twisting, side-to-side rocking, or prying unless the instructions explicitly show that movement.
Stand removal is not internal disassembly
Normal user removal should involve only the external stand assembly. Do not open the monitor housing to reach a stubborn stand. Internal disassembly can expose the LCD panel edges, power circuitry, internal cables, fragile clips, and shielding. Samsung service documentation distinguishes exterior and internal parts, which can vary by product. If the stand socket, latch, or rear housing is damaged, use Samsung support or an authorized repair channel rather than forcing the chassis open.

Installing a VESA arm or wall mount
Removing the desktop stand does not guarantee that the monitor accepts a VESA mount. After removal, check the exact model manual for:
- Four threaded VESA holes
- Hole spacing, such as 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm
- Required screw diameter and depth
- Spacers, an inlay, or a model-specific adapter
- Monitor weight and the mount’s load rating
- Clearance around ports, ventilation openings, and a curved or recessed rear housing
Samsung says most monitors are VESA-compatible, but directs owners to verify the specific model’s mounting requirements. Most models do not include a wall-mount kit. Consult Samsung’s wall-mount and VESA guidance and the mount manufacturer’s instructions.
Do not assume the stand screws are suitable VESA screws. Do not use screws that are too long, force screws into shallow inserts, or overtighten into the monitor chassis. Use the mount’s supplied hardware unless the Samsung manual specifies different hardware. Attach the bracket while the monitor is supported on a padded surface, tighten evenly, and use two-person lifting when the display is large or heavy.
If the stand will not come off
Stop pulling first. A stuck stand usually indicates an unidentified fastener or an incorrect release direction, not that more force is needed.

- Recheck the exact model code and download its manual.
- Search the manual for “stand,” “Removing the stand,” “disassembly,” or “wall mount.”
- Inspect the rear, underside, neck joint, and any cosmetic cover under good lighting.
- Look for a hidden screw, second latch, captive fastener, or slide-rail arrow.
- Apply force only in the direction shown by the model’s diagram.
- Contact Samsung support if the mechanism remains unclear.
If the stand moves but catches
Do not twist it side to side, insert a screwdriver between the bezel and stand, or pry against the screen or rear cover. Check whether the release button is fully depressed and whether a second screw or latch remains engaged.
If a screw is stripped
Stop using excessive force. Try a fresh, correctly sized bit with firm downward pressure. If the head is already damaged, professional extraction is safer than drilling near the panel, circuit boards, or cable assemblies. Consider authorized service if extraction could damage the chassis.
If you cannot find VESA holes
The monitor may not be VESA-compatible, the stand bracket or rear cover may still be installed, or the model may require a Samsung-specific inlay or adapter. Samsung specifically notes that some models need an inlay during mounting; check the model manual before buying a mount.

For mounting
Confirm the VESA pattern, screw size and depth, spacer requirements, and weight rating before attaching anything. Check that the bracket does not cover ports or ventilation openings. After mounting, verify that all screws are seated evenly and that the display is secure before connecting cables.
For storage or transport
Keep the stand neck, base, covers, and screws in a labeled bag. Protect the screen with the original packaging where possible. If the monitor will later be used on a desk, reinstall the original stand rather than leaving the display unsupported. Never transport it by the stand alone or lean it on a sharp corner.
For replacement
Search Samsung using the complete model code and regional suffix. Confirm that a replacement includes the matching neck, base, bracket, and fasteners. A stand advertised for the same series—or a commercial-display stand listed in a Samsung business price sheet—is not automatically compatible with a computer monitor. If the original stand is broken or the socket is damaged, contact Samsung support or an authorized service provider.

Frequently asked questions
Can every Samsung monitor stand be removed?
No universal claim is safe. Many are designed for stand removal, but the mechanism and VESA compatibility vary by model. Check the exact manual.
Do I need a screwdriver?
Only if your model uses screws. Other models use a button, latch, or slide mechanism. Do not insert a screwdriver as a lever.
Can I remove only the base?
Often, yes. Many stands have a separate base-to-neck connection, but the base may detach while the neck remains attached to the monitor.
What if there is no release button?
Look for retaining screws, a hidden cover, or a slide/pull mechanism. Follow the model-specific diagram rather than pulling harder.
Can I use the original stand screws for a VESA mount?
Not automatically. Stand fasteners and VESA fasteners can differ in length and specification. Use the hardware identified by the monitor and mount instructions.
Can I remove the stand without laying the monitor face down?
Sometimes, depending on the design. If the manual requires face-down positioning, use protective foam or a thick mat and support the display evenly. Never place pressure directly on the screen.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
