These modes store separate device codes, so programming one does not automatically program the other.
Start with the three-digit codes below, test the functions you need, and try the next code if power works but playback or menu commands do not.

Before you start
- Install fresh AAA batteries in the CT-90302.
- Turn on the Magnavox unit with its front-panel power button.
- Point the remote directly at the unit’s infrared receiver and remove anything blocking the path.
- Find the exact Magnavox model number if possible. Compatibility varies between models and command sets.
- Confirm that the remote is actually a CT-90302, not a similar Toshiba remote such as the CT-90275 or CT-90325.
The CT-90302 is a Toshiba television remote with limited control modes for selected external devices. It is not a fully universal or learning remote, and a successful code may provide only basic control.

Program the Magnavox VCR section in AUX 1
Use AUX 1 for VHS playback and recording functions.
- Turn on the Magnavox VCR/DVD unit manually.
- Slide the CT-90302’s MODE SELECT switch to AUX 1.
- Press and hold RECALL.
- While holding RECALL, enter one three-digit code from the list below.
- Release RECALL.
- Point the remote at the Magnavox unit and press POWER.
- If the unit turns off, test the buttons you need before accepting the code.
Primary Magnavox VCR codes:
026, 027, 034, 044, 057, 061, 072
These are the Magnavox VCR codes listed in the Toshiba/RV530U-era table. If none works, try the alternate set reported by another CT-90302 code-list reproduction:
054, 058, 100, 129, 168
Test PLAY, STOP, REW, FF, PAUSE, and REC. Power alone does not prove that the code fully matches the VCR.

Program the Magnavox DVD section in AUX 2
Use AUX 2 for DVD playback, navigation, and eject functions.
- Slide the MODE SELECT switch to AUX 2.
- Press and hold RECALL.
- Enter one of the three-digit DVD codes.
- Release RECALL.
- Point the remote at the Magnavox unit and press POWER.
- If the unit responds, test DVD playback and navigation.
Magnavox DVD codes: 004 and 038
Test PLAY, STOP, SKIP, DVD TOP MENU, MENU, the arrow buttons, ENTER, DVD CLEAR, and EJECT. Try the second code if the first operates power but not the commands you need.
Which mode controls which part?

Slide the switch to AUX 1 before using VHS commands, AUX 2 before using DVD commands, and TV before operating the Toshiba television. Exact button availability varies by television remote and Magnavox model.

Troubleshooting
Nothing happens when you press POWER
- Confirm that the Magnavox unit was turned on manually before testing.
- Check that the switch is in AUX 1 for VCR codes or AUX 2 for DVD codes.
- Use fresh batteries and point at the front-panel infrared receiver.
- Repeat the procedure with every code in the applicable list.
POWER works, but playback buttons do not
The code may be only a partial match. Try another code and test the functions that matter, including transport, menus, recording, and eject. The Toshiba remote may not contain every command used by your Magnavox model.

VHS works but DVD does not
That normally means only AUX 1 was programmed. Program AUX 2 separately with codes 004 and 038.
DVD works but VHS does not
Program AUX 1 separately with the VCR code groups. Changing the AUX 2 code will not program the VCR section.

A VCR 1/VCR 2 switch is present
On a standalone VCR with a VCR 1/VCR 2 switch, try the other switch position and program the remote again. This is less typical of a combination unit, but it is a useful check where the switch exists.
The remote lost its setting after a battery change
The Toshiba instructions warn that replacing batteries can require reprogramming. Once you find working codes, write the AUX 1 and AUX 2 codes inside the battery compartment or keep them with the remote.
When the CT-90302 is not enough
Even a working code may not provide tracking, timer programming, dubbing, one-touch copying, subtitle or audio controls, setup menus, source selection, or recording-specific commands. If no listed code works, or the unit has no usable front-panel controls, the most reliable solution is usually an exact Magnavox replacement remote selected by the player’s model number. The Magnavox manuals and downloads portal can help identify the correct model documentation.

A CT-90302-compatible replacement may restore control of the Toshiba television, but it should not be assumed to add Magnavox commands that the original remote did not support. A programmable universal remote is another option only if it explicitly supports the exact Magnavox model or its compatible Funai/Philips command set.
For the code-entry method described here, use three-digit codes. If your particular remote has a differently labeled setup or code button instead of RECALL, follow the button identification in that remote’s original Toshiba manual.
