If your usual women’s health clinic is temporarily inaccessible because a new clinic is being built, search for another location through HRSA, the federal Title X clinic locator, or a provider’s own directory. Then call the specific clinic before you travel: a listing cannot confirm that it is open, offers the service you need, or has an appointment available.
Start with a nationwide community health center search
Use the HRSA Find a Health Center locator and enter a ZIP code, city, or state. The tool covers U.S. states, territories, and the District of Columbia and provides contact details and directions. HRSA’s current locator page reports about 1,400 health centers operating more than 16,200 service sites; it does not specify a publication year for those figures.

Health centers provide a broad range of local care, which can include obstetricians and gynecologists. HRSA says fees are adjusted according to income and family size, and many health centers can help with transportation. Contact the center to check whether it provides the particular care you need and what its fees would be.
Choose a search route based on the care you need
Family planning, testing, and preventive reproductive care
Search the HHS Office of Population Affairs Title X clinic locator for family planning services. Title X clinics offer services including pregnancy prevention and testing, pregnancy counseling, breast and cervical cancer screening, and STI/HIV services. In 2022, 2.6 million Title X clients made more than 4 million clinic visits, according to the Office of Population Affairs.

Planned Parenthood services
The Planned Parenthood health center locator accepts a ZIP code, city, or state and lets you filter by service and appointment type. It lists in-person and telehealth options, but the services available vary by state and center. The page also gives 1-800-230-PLAN for help finding a location or appointment.
Prenatal care
If you are looking for prenatal care, HealthCare.gov’s community health center information says nearby centers may provide prenatal care and referrals. Cost depends on income. HRSA health centers also use income-adjusted fees, but call the center to ask about its specific services and costs.
Consider telehealth when it fits the appointment
Telehealth may be an option for some consultations, prescriptions, refills, and follow-up visits. Exams and procedures generally require in-person care. Whether telehealth is offered—and which services can be handled remotely—depends on the state and individual center. Check directly with the provider before booking.

Call before you go
A locator can help you find possibilities, but it cannot confirm a construction-related temporary relocation, current opening hours, a same-day appointment, insurance acceptance, or availability of a specific service. Use the phone number on the clinic’s listing to verify the details that affect your visit.
Rank #3
- Is this location open, and has construction changed its entrance or address?
- Do you offer the specific service or appointment type I need?
- What is the earliest available appointment, and can any part of the visit be done by telehealth?
- Do you accept my insurance? If not, are income-based fees or financial assistance available?
- Can you help with transportation or direct me to another location that provides this service?
If you plan to use insurance, confirm coverage with your insurer as well as the clinic. Search routes can overlap: a health center may also appear in another directory, so treat each listing as a lead and verify the details with the provider.
