There are several district lots, but prices and availability can vary, and no one lot is best for every venue. If you plan to attend the cattle drive, the Stockyards advises arriving at least 30 minutes before parking because streets may be closed. Compare the lot’s location, current posted price, route and payment rules before you set out; if you would rather not search for a space, consider the Stockyards app or Trinity Metro.
Start with the event and the route in
Parking plans depend on where your event is and which streets remain open. First find the event’s official map and schedule, then check for closures that could change your approach to the district. The Fort Worth Stockyards’ NFR event information directs visitors to a map and schedule; use the information for the exact event and date rather than assuming a normal-day route will work. The event map is useful not only for locating the venue, but also for comparing it with the district’s multiple parking areas.

Before choosing a lot, identify the venue or entrance you need, check whether the event lists a preferred route or parking information, and note any closure notices. A lot that looks close on a general map may be less convenient if the event changes access to nearby streets. There is no universally best Stockyards lot for every show, attraction or event, so the right choice depends on the destination, current access, price and how much walking your group is comfortable with.

The Stockyards’ event information for NFR explicitly points visitors to a map and schedule; look for equivalent date-specific information for your event.
- Check posted closures. Identify an approach that remains open and allow time for a different route or a lot farther from your destination. Do not assume the usual entrance or shortest route will remain available during an event.
- Choose a lot based on both location and price. The district has several parking areas; check the operator’s current parking information and the signs at the lot for the applicable rate and conditions.
- Decide whether to drive. If finding a space or navigating closures is a concern, check the Stockyards app’s advertised map and parking prepayment, or consider public transit.
For the cattle drive, which is scheduled daily at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting, the Stockyards advises visitors to arrive at least 30 minutes before parking because of street closures. Its event information states, “Due to street closures we advise you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to park.” Treat that as guidance for the cattle drive, not a guaranteed buffer for every event or a promise that a space will be available. Other events may have different schedules, access conditions or closure notices, so check the information tied to your own date.

What parking costs at the Stockyards
The operator’s listed self-parking rates vary by day of the week. The weekday rates below are listed before sales tax and service fee where indicated. The operator also notes that premium lots may have higher posted rates and special-event prices may apply separately. In practical terms, the usual day-of-week price is a starting point for comparison, not a final quote for every lot on a busy event date.
| Parking option | Operator-listed rate | Important conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Self-parking, Monday–Wednesday | $12.50, plus sales tax and service fee | Check the lot’s posted price and event rules. |
| Self-parking, Thursday | $17.50, plus sales tax and service fee | Check the lot’s posted price and event rules. |
| Self-parking, Friday–Sunday | $22.50, plus sales tax and service fee | Check the lot’s posted price and event rules. |
| Overnight parking, 24 hours | $32.50 | Confirm current terms and availability with the operator. |
| Trailers and RVs | $27.50 | Restricted to the Contestant Lot, accessed from Stockyards Boulevard. |
| Valet, Monday–Thursday | $20, including tax and service fee | Posted at 122 E Exchange Avenue. |
| Valet, Friday–Sunday | $25, including tax and service fee | Posted at 122 E Exchange Avenue. |
These are posted operator rates, not a guarantee of what you will pay at every lot or event. The operator says special-event rates are posted when applicable, and premium lots can cost more. Check the current operator information and the sign at your selected lot before committing to the drive. If comparing the listed self-parking amount with valet, account for the distinction in how the rates are stated: the self-parking schedule adds sales tax and service fee, while the valet rates are listed as including tax and service fee.
There is also a difference between a regular parking choice and a vehicle-specific restriction. The posted $27.50 rate for trailers and RVs is limited to the Contestant Lot, accessed from Stockyards Boulevard. Do not assume that a standard district lot can accommodate an RV or trailer. If you are arriving with one, check the operator’s current directions and signs for the Contestant Lot and confirm that the terms still apply.

The listed amount alone does not establish availability, extra-hour charges or any other terms, so use the current operator information rather than assuming those details.
Where the district lots are
The operator lists several lots on or near East Exchange Avenue. Match the address to your venue on the event map instead of choosing solely by lot number. The lot names and addresses can help narrow your options, but they do not establish which lot will be open, closest by the route available that day, or available when you arrive.

The Stockyards visitor FAQ describes additional parking areas behind many businesses on West Exchange Avenue, at North Main near NW 25th Street, and along Stockyards Boulevard adjacent to Billy Bob’s Texas. These references show that parking is spread around the district rather than concentrated in one central garage or lot. Use the event map to relate those broader areas to your destination and planned arrival route.

The operator says lots are within walking distance of venues, attractions and businesses, but it does not publish a universal walking time. Avoid relying on an assumed number of minutes from a lot to a venue. Instead, look at the specific address and event map, then consider your group’s walking tolerance, the route you will need to take and whether a closure could alter access. This matters particularly when your party includes people who would prefer a shorter walk or when you need to arrive at a particular entrance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAddresses can also help when communicating a plan to others. Rather than telling companions to “meet at the Stockyards parking,” name the lot or street area you intend to use and agree on the destination you are walking toward. That is a planning suggestion, not a guarantee that the lot will be available; keep a second option in mind if signs, closures or current pricing make your first choice unsuitable.
Using valet, the app, or public transit
Valet
The listed valet location is 122 E Exchange Avenue, at East Exchange Avenue and Mule Alley by Shake Shack. Its posted rates are $20 Monday–Thursday and $25 Friday–Sunday, inclusive of tax and service fee. Posted hours are Monday–Wednesday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; Thursday–Friday, 11 a.m.–midnight; and Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–midnight. Valet accepts cards only, not cash.
Valet may be worth comparing if you prefer not to choose a self-parking lot, but it is not a way to avoid checking event access or timing. Confirm that the current hours cover both your arrival and your planned departure, particularly for a late event. The posted hours vary by day, and a listed closing time should not be treated as confirmation that the service will suit every event schedule. Verify the current valet information and follow on-site instructions.
Stockyards app
The official Stockyards app advertises real-time event information, an interactive district map and parking prepayment. Those features can help you review the district and plan before leaving, especially when comparing a venue with the available lot locations. The app’s advertised map and event information may also give you another way to find date-specific details alongside the event page.
Do not treat parking prepayment as a guaranteed reserved space unless the app’s current terms explicitly say that it is. The available operator information does not establish live occupancy or a guaranteed reservation for the named lots. Before paying, check what the app says about the particular lot and event, including what the payment actually secures. If the terms do not confirm a reserved place, keep an alternate lot or transit plan rather than assuming you can arrive at any time and park.

Trinity Metro
If you would rather avoid searching for a space by car, the Stockyards directions page describes taking the northbound Orange Line bus from Fort Worth Central Station. TEXRail riders can connect from North Side Station to the Orange Line bus. These are overview directions, not live schedule information. Check current timetables and fares before leaving, since service times and ticket prices can change.
Transit is an alternative to consider, not a promise that a particular connection will operate at the time you need. Check the date and time of your event against current service information, and allow for the connection described by the directions page if you are coming by TEXRail. If the schedule does not fit your arrival or return, compare other plans before setting out rather than assuming the overview page gives a real-time itinerary.
Can you find free parking?
Visit Fort Worth reports free street parking along East Exchange Avenue, and paid lots are also available throughout the district. Free street spaces may exist, but their availability is not guaranteed, especially during a busy event. The source does not promise a space, list a count of free spaces or say that one will be available at a particular time. Treat street parking as a possibility rather than the foundation of your arrival plan.
If you want to try for a free space, check closures and identify a paid alternative before arriving. That way, if the street spaces are occupied or the route is not convenient, you can make another choice without depending on a space that may not be there. For a high-demand event, compare the time you are willing to spend looking with the posted cost and location of a paid lot. The available information does not provide a typical search time or event-day occupancy, so it cannot tell you how likely a free space is to be open.
How to choose between parking options
Compare the options against the needs of your particular outing, not just the posted price. A lower rate may not be useful if closures make the lot difficult to reach or its location adds more walking than your group wants. Conversely, a more expensive option is not automatically the right choice if another lot better fits your venue and route. Use the current map, posted rates and event details to weigh the factors below.
- Venue location: Use the event map to identify a lot or district area that makes sense for your destination. The available information does not establish a single best lot for all venues. Review the named locations and broader district parking areas against the actual venue.
- Total cost: Compare the weekday rate, taxes and service fee where applicable, and any special-event or premium-lot price shown at the time. Keep in mind that the operator’s regular self-parking schedule varies from $12.50 Monday–Wednesday to $22.50 Friday–Sunday, with Thursday at $17.50, before the stated additional charges.
- Arrival route: Check closures and plan an approach that works for the event date. Event routing can matter as much as distance on a map, and the cattle-drive arrival advice should not be assumed to apply to every event.
- Payment: The operator says its listed lots and valet are card-only; do not plan to pay cash there. Have an accepted card available and check current instructions for the lot you choose.
- Availability certainty: The published information does not provide live occupancy or guarantee a space at the named lots. Do not assume that app prepayment means a reserved space unless its terms confirm it.
- Walking: Lot locations are available, but precise walking times are not. Use the map to judge the route for your group and do not rely on an unsupported time estimate.
- Vehicle type and duration: If you have an RV or trailer, the listed option is the Contestant Lot off Stockyards Boulevard. If you need overnight parking, check the 24-hour rate and current terms rather than applying a standard event-day rate.
- Opening hours: If considering valet, match the posted hours to your arrival and departure. The published schedule differs by day, so verify current details for a late or weekend event.
A useful way to make the decision is to narrow the choices in order. First eliminate options that do not fit your vehicle or duration. Next, check which addresses are practical for your venue under the event’s current route information. Then compare the total posted cost, payment method and walking expectations. Finally, decide whether any prepayment or reservation language actually promises a space; if not, plan for the possibility that you will need an alternative. This process does not guarantee a spot, but it avoids confusing a lot’s listed location or price with certainty about access and availability.

What to confirm before you leave
- The event map and schedule for the exact date, including the venue or entrance you need.
- Street closures and an alternate approach to your destination. For the cattle drive, note the Stockyards’ advice to arrive at least 30 minutes before parking because of closures; do not generalize that time to other events.
- The selected lot’s current price, including any special-event or premium rate, plus stated tax and service charges where applicable.
- Whether the parking option accepts your payment method. The listed operator lots and valet are card-only.
- For valet, whether it will be open when you arrive and leave, and whether its current location and rates remain as listed.
- For an RV or trailer, whether you are using the designated Contestant Lot access from Stockyards Boulevard.
- For overnight parking, the operator’s current terms for the 24-hour option.
- For app prepayment, exactly what the current terms say it secures; do not assume it guarantees a reserved space.
- For transit, the current timetable and fare for your trip, including the Orange Line route or TEXRail connection from North Side Station.
- A backup plan if free street parking is unavailable or your first-choice lot is inaccessible or full.
Parking prices, lot availability, app features, event maps and transit schedules can change. The Fort Worth Stockyards operator’s current parking information, the specific event’s map and notices, the current app terms, transit information and on-site signs are the places to confirm details for your visit. No live lot occupancy or event-specific reservation inventory is published in the information described here, so leave room for the possibility that conditions will differ from what you expected.

Can I take public transit to the Stockyards?
The Stockyards directions page describes the northbound Orange Line bus from Fort Worth Central Station. TEXRail riders can connect to the Orange Line bus from North Side Station. Check live timetables and fares for your date because the directions page is an overview, not a real-time schedule.
The Bottom Line
For a busy Stockyards event, use the date-specific event map and closure notices to choose a lot near your destination, then verify the current posted price and card-only payment rule. Do not count on free street parking or assume app prepayment reserves a space. If the route or parking search is a concern, compare valet and Trinity Metro, and confirm their current hours or schedules before leaving.
