Route the charger cable through the back of the Dyson V8 dock, secure it with the retainer, and clip the connector into the front bracket. Then mount the dock with the lowest screw point at least 1.2 m (47¼ in) above the floor, using fixings suited to the wall. Check for hidden services before drilling.
Choose a safe, practical location
Position the dock close enough to a power outlet for the charger to reach, but leave some slack in the cable. Before drilling, check behind the proposed mounting area for pipes, electrical cables, wires, or ductwork. Dyson recommends wearing protective clothing and eyewear during installation.
Compare possible locations by outlet access, available cable slack, the wall material and suitable fixings, and the risk of hidden services behind the wall.
Set the mounting height and mark the holes
Dyson’s V8 support guidance specifies at least 1.2 m (47¼ in) between the floor and the lowest screw point. Its replacement guidance gives 1.2 m as the mounting height so the vacuum can hang in the dock without touching the floor. Use the hole positions in the installation leaflet supplied with your dock; do not infer the spacing.

Choose fixings for the wall
Dyson states that wall fixings are not included with the dock. Select screws and anchors appropriate for the wall’s construction rather than assuming one fixing type suits every surface. If you are unsure what the wall can support, identify its construction before drilling and choose an appropriate fixing system.
Route and secure the charger cable
- Feed the charger cable through the rear of the dock.
- Secure the cable with the retainer clip.
- Clip the connector into the small bracket at the front until it clicks. Depending on the dock casing, the leaflet may describe positioning the jack plug in the front casing and securing the cable behind it; follow the instructions for the parts supplied with your dock.
Mount the dock and connect power
- With the hole positions marked from the leaflet and the wall checked for hidden services, drill the two specified holes.
- Secure the dock using the wall-appropriate fixings and assemble its casing as directed.
- Clip the tools into place, hang the vacuum in the dock, and check that it does not touch the floor.
- Plug the charger into the mains outlet.
Check the dock and vacuum match
The official guidance cited here does not establish compatibility with every Dyson V8 variant or every third-party dock. If you are replacing a dock, check the exact vacuum and dock details and use the leaflet supplied with that dock. Wall construction, casing details, and included hardware can differ.
