How to Change Wi-Fi on Your Feit Floodlight Camera

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To change the Wi-Fi on a Feit floodlight camera, reset it into pairing mode and add it again in the Feit Electric app using the new 2.4 GHz network credentials. Feit’s public instructions do not document a universal “change network” field inside the existing camera settings. This reset-and-reconnect method applies after replacing a router, changing your Wi-Fi name or password, switching internet providers, or moving the camera to another network.

Quick answer

  1. Connect your phone to the new 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  2. Make sure the camera has power.
  3. Open the camera’s side cover and locate the reset button.
  4. Press and hold the reset button until the blue indicator blinks and the camera makes an audible tone.
  5. Open the Feit Electric app and sign in.
  6. Tap + or Add Device, then choose Security & Cameras and Floodlight Camera.
  7. Choose EZ Mode or QR Code Mode, depending on what the app displays.
  8. Enter the new Wi-Fi password, complete setup, and confirm that the camera comes online.

Feit’s setup guidance identifies these floodlight cameras as requiring a usable 2.4 GHz connection; a 5 GHz-only network will not work. See Feit’s official floodlight-camera setup instructions.

What “change Wi-Fi” means

Your camera stores the credentials for the network it was originally paired with. The following changes can make it appear offline:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • A new router or internet service provider
  • A changed Wi-Fi name, also called an SSID
  • A changed Wi-Fi password
  • Moving the camera to another home or property
  • Changing a range extender or mesh-network arrangement
  • A router or power interruption after which the camera does not reconnect

Feit specifically lists a changed network name, password, router, or range extender among the reasons a smart floodlight camera may go offline. A flashing blue indicator can also indicate that the camera is waiting to be paired. Refer to Feit’s offline-camera guidance.

Can you change the network without resetting?

Possibly, depending on your model and app version, an existing device page may show a network-edit option. However, Feit’s current public support procedure describes resetting the camera and adding it again rather than relying on a universal in-app network-change control. Do not assume that a menu labeled Change Network will be present.

If the app provides a clearly labeled network-edit option, you can try it first. If it does not, use the supported reset-and-repair process below. You generally do not need to delete the device from your Feit account before attempting to reconnect it.

Before you begin

Prepare the new network

Connect your phone to the new 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network before starting setup. Have the network password available. The password you enter during pairing is the Wi-Fi password, not the password used to sign in to your Feit account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Some routers combine their 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands under one Wi-Fi name. That arrangement may work, but pairing can be unreliable if the phone switches bands during setup. If necessary, temporarily separate the band names, disable 5 GHz during pairing, or create a dedicated 2.4 GHz network. Feit also notes that a dedicated 2.4 GHz guest network may be useful in some configurations.

Check the phone and app

  • Install or update the Feit Electric app and sign in.
  • Check the app store for your phone’s current compatibility requirements. Feit’s older setup article mentions iOS 11 or later, while the current U.S. iOS App Store listing states iOS 13 or later.
  • Temporarily disconnect a VPN if pairing fails.
  • Allow the app’s requested permissions, including local-network or location access where applicable.

Plan for the installation

The camera must be powered during the reset. You may need a small screwdriver to remove the side cover. Because this is a hardwired outdoor fixture, do not remove the fixture or expose wiring while energized. If a later troubleshooting step requires removing the camera from its mounting plate, turn off the appropriate circuit breaker first. Use a qualified electrician if you are not comfortable working around a hardwired fixture.

Detailed reset-and-reconnect procedure

1. Connect the phone to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

Open your phone’s Wi-Fi settings, select the new 2.4 GHz network, enter its password, and confirm that the phone has internet access. Keep the phone on that network while pairing.

2. Put the camera into pairing mode

  1. Leave the floodlight camera powered on.
  2. Remove the camera’s side cover if necessary.
  3. Find the reset button behind the cover.
  4. Press and hold the button.
  5. Release it when the blue indicator begins blinking and the camera emits an audible tone.

Feit’s support pages give different approximate holding times—about five seconds on one troubleshooting page and up to 15 seconds on another. Do not treat either number as universal. The blinking blue light and audible tone are the important confirmation signals. See Feit’s reset instructions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Add the camera in the Feit Electric app

  1. Open the Feit Electric app.
  2. Select the appropriate home or location if the app asks you to do so.
  3. Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner or tap Add Device.
  4. Choose Security & Cameras.
  5. Select Floodlight Camera.

Labels can vary by camera model and app version. You may instead see Camera, a dual-lens floodlight-camera option, or a panoramic-camera category. Use the entry that matches the fixture.

4. Select EZ Mode or QR Code Mode

The app may offer one or both of these pairing methods.

EZ Mode

  1. Select EZ Mode.
  2. Confirm that the camera’s indicator is flashing.
  3. Enter the new Wi-Fi password.
  4. Start the connection process and wait for the app to finish.

QR Code Mode

  1. Select QR Code Mode.
  2. Follow the prompts to display a QR code on your phone.
  3. Hold the phone near the camera so the lens can scan the code. Keep the screen bright and follow the distance guidance shown by the app.
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted.

Feit’s QR-code setup tips and outdoor-camera connection guide explain these pairing variations.

5. Confirm the connection

Successful setup should produce a completion message in the app. The camera should appear online, the live view should load, and the floodlight controls should respond. Feit’s setup instructions associate a completed connection with a solid blue indicator.

  3. Still no pairing mode: Turn off the circuit breaker, leave the camera without power for up to five seconds, restore power, and repeat the reset.
  4. Persistent failure: Feit’s more involved procedure may require turning off the breaker, removing the camera from its mounting plate, waiting, and restoring power. That is electrical work; use a qualified electrician if needed.

Consult Feit’s connection troubleshooting article for the model-specific sequence.

Router, mesh, and 2.4 GHz troubleshooting

Only one Wi-Fi name is visible

One visible network name does not prove that your router lacks 2.4 GHz. Many routers combine both bands under one SSID. The combined network may work, but if setup repeatedly fails, temporarily split the bands or turn off 5 GHz so the phone and camera can use 2.4 GHz during pairing.

Using a mesh system or extender

Do not assume that every mesh system or extender is incompatible. The documented requirement is a usable 2.4 GHz network at the camera’s location. Band steering, fast roaming, client isolation, or the phone changing to 5 GHz can interfere with setup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Possible troubleshooting steps include temporarily disabling band steering, creating a dedicated 2.4 GHz IoT network, or pairing while the phone is connected to the main LAN rather than an isolated guest network. Guest-network isolation can prevent the phone and camera from communicating during local discovery. A mesh node or extender may improve coverage, but it can also introduce a separate SSID or additional roaming behavior.

Pairing works, then the camera goes offline

Check the 2.4 GHz signal at the installed floodlight, not just beside the router. Exterior walls and distance can reduce coverage. Also check router access-control settings, client isolation, power stability, and whether the camera appears as an attached 2.4 GHz client in the router’s device list.

If the app says the password is wrong

  • Verify that the phone is connected to the intended new network.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password—not the Feit app password.
  • Check capitalization, punctuation, numbers, and spaces.
  • Confirm that the router password has not changed since the phone connected.
  • Confirm that the network provides 2.4 GHz service.
  • Check whether guest isolation or access-control rules are blocking new IoT devices.

If necessary, type the password manually instead of relying on autofill.

If the camera is online but video will not load

Successful Wi-Fi pairing and successful video playback are related but not identical. If the device appears online:

  1. Force-close and reopen the Feit Electric app.
  2. Confirm that the phone itself has internet access.
  3. Check the app’s local-network, location, and notification permissions as applicable.
  4. Reboot the phone and router.
  5. Check the camera’s power and signal at the fixture.

Avoid immediately resetting the camera again, especially if it contains recordings you have not reviewed. If the device remains online but live video still fails, use the specific model manual and contact Feit Electric support.

Protect recordings before resetting

A reset removes the camera’s stored Wi-Fi credentials and requires pairing again. It is not automatically the same as deleting the device from your Feit account. Do not delete the device unless pairing fails or the app specifically requires removal.

If a microSD card is installed, review or export important footage first. Feit’s SEC5000/CAM/WIFI product information describes separately sold removable microSD storage up to 128 GB and local-storage use without a monthly storage fee for that described setup. The retrieved product information does not establish exactly how every model’s reset affects recordings, so do not format the card unless you accept the possible loss of stored footage.

Identify your model before using model-specific instructions

Feit has several floodlight-camera products, and the app screens are not guaranteed to be identical. Check the model number on the fixture, packaging, manual, or existing device page. Common examples include the SEC3000/CAM/WIFI and SEC5000/CAM/WIFI, while dual-lens and panoramic models may use different labels or steps.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Feit’s manuals and downloads library is the best place to match the exact fixture before removing a cover or following model-specific instructions.

Final verification checklist

  • The camera appears online in the Feit Electric app.
  • Live view loads successfully.
  • Floodlight controls respond.
  • Motion detection and alerts work as expected.
  • The camera stays connected for several minutes.
  • The router shows the camera as a connected 2.4 GHz client.
  • Important recordings remain accessible.

When replacement may be justified

Changing Wi-Fi alone is not a reason to replace a camera. Consider replacement or professional service only if the fixture repeatedly loses power, cannot enter pairing mode after confirmed power cycling, fails on multiple known-good 2.4 GHz networks, or shows signs of hardware, weather, or firmware failure. If you need Ethernet, a different Wi-Fi architecture, or another recording model, replacement may also be appropriate—but first rule out credentials, band selection, signal strength, router restrictions, and power.
