The supports are a separate feature from its propulsion: they lift and anchor the home in shallow water rather than making it travel.
How does the Arkup 50 rise above the water?
Arkup describes the current Villa 50 product as using hydraulic elevation and hydraulic spuds—marine supports that extend down from the vessel to the bottom. Its product page lists spuds up to 22 feet long and an anchoring depth of up to 17 feet. When deployed, the supports raise the home’s hull above the water; when retracted, it can float normally. The listed dimensions mean the supports are intended for suitable shallow-water locations, not for lifting the vessel in deep water.
There is a discrepancy in the public descriptions of the mechanism. New Atlas’s October 28, 2024 report describes four motorized retractable pilings, up to 22 feet long, and says the system is not hydraulic. Arkup’s current product page instead calls the elevation and spud systems hydraulic. Neither source explains whether the design changed or the earlier report was inaccurate, so the precise mechanism should be confirmed for a particular build. What kind of home is the Arkup 50?
Arkup calls the vessel the Arkup 50 and also uses the name Villa 50. It is listed at 50 feet (15 metres) long, with up to 2,218 square feet (206 square metres) of living space. The area is an upper figure, not a guarantee for every layout: the manufacturer offers studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and commercial configurations.

The company says buyers select features such as floor plan, propulsion, deck configuration and anchoring system. As a result, there is no single specification that should be treated as standard across all Arkup 50s. Confirm the selected layout and equipment as part of a specific quote.
How does it differ from a conventional floating house?
A conventional floating home stays buoyant on the water. The Arkup 50 can also do that, but its optional supports are intended to transfer the vessel’s weight to the seabed and elevate the hull at an appropriate site. That changes where the vessel bears its load; it does not turn the home into a land-based building or establish that it can withstand any particular storm or wave condition.

Separately, Arkup lists self-propelled configurations with electric thrusters. Propulsion allows movement on the water; the elevation supports are for positioning and anchoring. A buyer should distinguish between a stationary configuration and a self-propelled one, and verify which systems are included in the chosen build.
What power and propulsion does Arkup list?
In the manufacturer’s self-propelled specification block, Arkup lists 12 kW of solar panels, a 75 kWh LiFePO₄ battery, a 15 kW diesel generator, shore power and electric thrusters. These figures describe that listed configuration, not every possible version.

Arkup’s page also presents differing battery and thruster figures in other specification sections. Those figures should not be merged into a single assumed package. The exact power system depends on the selected configuration; ask the manufacturer to identify the equipment and capacities included in the proposed vessel. Arkup’s product page.
What can the published specifications establish?
The manufacturer’s stated support length and anchoring depth describe a limited operating context, not a complete safety or performance rating. New Atlas likewise notes that the supports require shallow water and are not intended for use in the middle of the ocean. The cited sources do not establish storm ratings, certified sea-state limits, independent stability testing, safety certification, operating costs or customer-tested performance.

Before treating the Arkup 50 as suitable for a particular waterfront site, establish the local water depth and bottom conditions, the intended anchoring arrangement, and the vessel’s applicable operating limits with the manufacturer and relevant marine professionals. A maximum listed support length alone cannot determine whether a location is suitable.
