Conan and Liza Powel O’Brien’s former Carpinteria beach house reportedly sold for $14.5 million in October 2022. The $16.5 million figure was its initial asking price, not the reported closing price.
What was the final sale price?
The Padaro Lane oceanfront property was listed for $16.5 million in July 2022 and reportedly closed for $14.5 million the following October, according to Siteline Santa Barbara and Architectural Digest. The sale price was $2 million below the original asking price.
What was the property like?
Reporting described the sold property as a two-building oceanfront compound on roughly half an acre, with a 2,142-square-foot main house, a detached guesthouse and about 50 feet of beach frontage. Architectural Digest and Realtor.com also reported features including a deck, beach access and guest accommodations. These are reported property and listing details, not an independent inspection.
Who owned and bought the home?
Conan and Liza Powel O’Brien reportedly purchased the property in 2015 for $7.9 million and renovated it. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker were reported as the buyers in the 2022 transaction.

How does the $23 million purchase fit in?
The $23 million figure refers to a different Carpinteria residence that O’Brien reportedly bought in 2022. Architectural Digest described that Sand Point home as a 3,476-square-foot property with four bedrooms and four bathrooms on a lot slightly larger than an acre. It was not the Padaro Lane beach compound that sold to Kardashian and Barker.
