The retrofit system uses two opposing showerheads supplied from one existing shower setup. Its creators, former Amazon engineers Brett Skaloud and Jeff Feiereisen, took the idea to Kickstarter in 2022; on April 22, GeekWire reported that the campaign had raised $525,000 from 2,400 backers, with 24 days still remaining.
What the Tandem Shower was designed to do
The Tandem Shower was Boona’s first product. Rather than asking two people to take turns under one conventional showerhead, it was designed to put a showerhead on each side so both people could stand in the water at once. GeekWire described the heads as running from the same water line; Product Hunt’s launch newsletter described a retrofit arrangement with opposing heads, a rod-like mount, three pressure settings, and a valve to adjust the flow between them.
Those details describe the launch-era product, not current installation instructions. For any model, the manufacturer’s published instructions and the bathroom’s existing plumbing determine what installation requires. A dual-head setup also does not establish that both heads deliver the same pressure or flow in every installation.
Who developed it, and why
Boona’s co-founders were Brett Skaloud and Jeff Feiereisen, both former Amazon employees. GeekWire connected their previous work to Amazon Go and, in Skaloud’s case, Amazon Scout. Feiereisen acknowledged that the Amazon connection could be an unusual introduction for a shower product: “We both worked at Amazon, and I was thinking, ‘Should we tell people that we worked at Amazon?’”

Skaloud framed the product as more than a plumbing convenience, saying the founders were interested in helping couples get closer and have more present conversations. Feiereisen also described the contrast between developing sophisticated electromechanical products and working on a shower system. The idea’s appeal was straightforward: make sharing a shower more comfortable rather than leaving one person waiting outside the stream.
What the Kickstarter figure does—and does not—mean
GeekWire reported on April 22, 2022 that the Kickstarter had raised $525,000 from 2,400 backers, while 24 days remained in the campaign. It is a mid-campaign snapshot, not a verified final total. A Kickstarter update archived by Kicktraq records an earlier milestone: more than $500,000 and 2,000 pre-orders on April 21, 2022.

The GeekWire report listed a $249 base Kickstarter offer that included the Tandem Shower and an additional showerhead. That was a campaign pledge term, not a current retail price. The same report said delivery was expected in early 2023; that was a forecast made during the campaign, not confirmation of when backers received their products or a present-day shipping estimate. What the product listing establishes for construction and installation
The ICC Evaluation Service PMG-1692 certificate identifies BOONA Tandem Shower models in single- and dual-showerhead configurations. It lists finish variants including chrome, black, Miami, brushed nickel, and gold, and flow-rate variants including 1.75 and 2.5 gallons per minute. These entries establish that model variants are named in the listing; they should not be treated as confirmation that every variant is currently sold or available in every market.

The certificate says recognized models are to be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s published instructions and applicable code. That is important for a retrofit fixture: a listing does not establish fit in every bathroom, account for every existing valve or connection, or replace checking the instructions and local code. The available evidence does not establish current stock, the present model lineup, warranty or support terms, or current specifications across all markets.

The product’s two-head layout is intended to let two people shower together, but the cited launch material does not provide independent performance testing or measured water-savings results. GeekWire framed potential savings only as a comparison between two people showering together and taking two separate showers. Whether that uses less water depends on each person’s shower duration and the system’s actual flow; it is not a general, measured savings claim.

For a construction or renovation decision, the practical questions are compatibility, installation requirements, and the flow and configuration of the specific listed model. The available sources do not establish universal compatibility or comparative test results against conventional multi-head plumbing or other retrofit products.
