Verdict: The Horsepower Duck Vacuum is a real, highly portable cordless handheld vacuum that makes sense for crumbs, light dust, car cupholders, keyboards, drawers, and other quick dry cleanups. It is not a substitute for a full-size vacuum, a powerful pet-hair cleaner, or a tool for wet messes. Its 16–20-minute battery claim, durability, and performance on demanding debris are not independently established, so the purchase makes the most sense when compactness matters more than maximum power.
This is an evidence-based review of the published specifications and available customer feedback—not a claim of personal ownership or hands-on testing.

What is the Horsepower Duck Vacuum?
The Duck is a small, cordless, rechargeable handheld vacuum sold by Horsepower and retailers including Chewy and BulbHead. Its compact body is designed to stay in a drawer, backpack, glove compartment, or other small storage space rather than replace an upright, canister, stick, or full-size handheld vacuum.

Horsepower describes the motor as turbocharged and publishes a 4.5 kPa suction figure. Those are manufacturer claims. The product page does not provide independent airflow measurements, a noise rating, battery capacity, or a standardized cleaning score that would allow a reliable comparison with other handheld vacuums. See the official product page.
Specifications and contents
| Specification | Published information | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Suction | 4.5 kPa | Manufacturer claim; no independent test cited |
| Weight | 1.3 pounds | Manufacturer claim |
| Runtime | 16–20 minutes | Manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed real-world result |
| Charging time | 3–5 hours | Manufacturer claim |
| Filter | Premium HEPA | Certification and test standard are not clearly documented |
| Power | Rechargeable, cordless | Charging cable included |
| Accessories | Extension tube, crevice nozzle, brush nozzle, storage bag | Retailers may use slightly different attachment names |
The listed package contents are the Horsepower Duck Vacuum, charging cable, extension tube, crevice nozzle, brush nozzle, and storage bag. Chewy also describes a short hose, crevice tool, and crevice-tool brush, so check the exact seller’s listing if a particular attachment matters to you.
Do not read the 4.5 kPa figure as a complete measure of cleaning ability. Suction pressure is only one part of performance. Airflow, nozzle design, agitation, filtration, battery output, and the type of debris all affect whether a vacuum actually picks material up.

Good-fit tasks
The Duck is most plausible as a quick spot cleaner for:
- Dry crumbs, rice, cereal pieces, and loose kibble
- Dust on hard surfaces
- Small amounts of loose pet hair
- Car cupholders, consoles, and seat crevices
- Window tracks, corners, and drawers
- Keyboard debris when used with the brush attachment
- Small amounts of sawdust or tiny hardware
These uses align with the manufacturer’s examples and with customer reports describing crumbs, kibble, litter, couch debris, car interiors, and hard-to-reach areas. That evidence supports “useful for small, loose messes,” not a broader claim that it performs like a powerful pet or workshop vacuum.
Tasks where expectations should be low
The Duck should not be treated as a replacement for:
- Whole-room or whole-home vacuuming
- Deep carpet cleaning
- Large quantities of debris
- Heavy or embedded pet hair in upholstery
- Long, continuous cleaning sessions
- Large litter-box areas
- Flea control
- Wet spills or liquids
- Ash, drywall dust, combustible dust, or other hazardous fine material
The available information describes dry debris and does not establish that the Duck is wet/dry rated. Do not vacuum liquids unless Horsepower expressly documents wet use.

How strong is the suction?
The fairest answer is that the Duck appears capable for loose, lightweight debris but has practical limits imposed by its small motor, nozzle, debris cup, and battery.
- Manufacturer evidence: Horsepower publishes 4.5 kPa suction and uses phrases such as “turbo-charged” and “ultra-powerful.” These are specifications or marketing claims, not independent laboratory results.
- Positive customer evidence: Some Chewy reviewers report successful pickup of crumbs, kibble, litter, pet hair, and debris from tight locations.
- Negative customer evidence: Other reviewers report inadequate pickup for tracked litter, frequent charging, and very small capacity. The review pool includes one- and two-star reviews as well as positive feedback.
“Powerful for its size” is a reasonable qualification. “Powerful enough to replace a normal vacuum” is not supported by the available evidence.
Battery life: claim versus reported experience
Horsepower claims 16–20 minutes of runtime after a full charge and 3–5 hours to recharge. It advises using the included charging cable. In practice, the evidence is inconsistent.
A 2025 review of the Gold version reported less than seven minutes of initial use and approximately two to three minutes on later attempts, along with heat and shutdown concerns. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a controlled test and not proof that every unit performs that way. The report is available at Snoopviews.

Retailer reviews describe the opposite experience, including users who say the vacuum remained charged for days or worked through multiple short sessions. Some reviews were marked “Received Free Product,” so free-product feedback should not be treated as equivalent to independent testing.
The practical conclusion is simple: treat 16–20 minutes as a best-case manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed runtime. The Duck is better suited to short bursts than to cleaning an entire car or several rooms. A three-to-five-hour recharge can also be inconvenient if the vacuum is stored as an always-ready tool.
Filter, debris capacity, and maintenance
The small size that makes the Duck easy to store also limits its debris capacity. Multiple customer reports emphasize that the cup fills quickly. Frequent emptying is a design trade-off rather than automatically a defect.

- 【Perfect Compatibility】 (NOTE: The vacuum cleaner is not included) HEPA vacuum filters are Perfectly compatible with Compact Cordless Vacuum Cleaner as seen on tv. Vac filter is an excellent choice for the vacuum cleaner to perform at its peak.
- 【High Efficiency 99.97% Filtration】HEPA filters for vacuum cleaner as seen on tv can demonstrate an extremely strong filtering capacity when in use, filtering out 99.97% of impurities in the air, including dust, mud, pollen, glass, debris, VOCs, smoke and other fine dust as small as 0.3 microns
- 【High Quality Vac Replacement】Handheld mini vacuum kit accessories are made of upgraded HEPA filter and reinforced framework, showing long-lasting performance. Filter made of FSC-Certified paper
- 【Washable & Easy to Install】Portable replacement filters for compact cordless vacuum are washable and reusable. Portable vacuum replacement filters are very easy to replace and does not require any other tools
- 【Valuable 6-Pack Set】There are 6 vacuum replacement filters and 1 cleaning brush in one package. It's cost-effective and you don't have to worry about delaying your cleaning progress
For the best chance of maintaining suction:
- Empty the debris cup before it becomes packed.
- Check the filter after collecting fine dust or pet hair.
- Inspect the nozzle and hose for blockages.
- Clean the filter according to the seller’s instructions and reinstall it only when fully dry.
- Make sure the filter is seated correctly.
- Keep the charging cable with the vacuum.
- Check whether replacement filters are available before buying.
The manufacturer calls the filter “premium HEPA,” but the published information does not provide certification details or a clear cleaning and replacement schedule. One retailer review mentions replaceable filters, while another describes filter cleaning as unintuitive. Do not interpret the HEPA wording as proof of medical-grade allergen protection.

Regular versus Gold edition
A Gold edition exists and is marketed as having a larger battery. Horsepower’s product information also refers to a larger battery for longer runtime, but the available information does not provide a clear battery-capacity number or a standardized runtime comparison between the regular and Gold versions.
Before paying extra, verify the exact:
- Edition and model name
- Battery capacity
- Published runtime
- Attachments included
- Price difference
- Return and warranty terms
- Seller responsible for fulfillment
A larger battery claim does not establish a longer real-world runtime unless the two versions are tested under comparable conditions.

Charging problems
Customer reports include both charging failures and normal charging. There is also conflicting information about the cable: one third-party reviewer said other USB-C cables did not work with that unit, while a retailer review described the included cable as ordinary USB-C on the vacuum end. Do not assume compatibility beyond the documentation supplied with your specific unit.
- Use the included cable and an appropriate USB power source.
- Inspect the charging port for debris.
- Let the vacuum cool if it becomes hot.
- Stop using it if the battery swells, smells unusual, or becomes excessively hot.
- Contact the seller before disassembling the vacuum.
- Keep the packaging, order record, and delivery date during the return period.
The official product page displays a 30-day money-back guarantee, but the exact terms can vary by seller. Read the policy attached to the listing you purchase.
Weak suction
Weak pickup does not necessarily mean motor failure. Common causes include a full cup, blocked hose or nozzle, dirty or incorrectly installed filter, low battery, fine dust restricting airflow, or debris that is too large or heavy for the attachment.
Cat litter
Loose litter may be a reasonable occasional spot-cleaning use, but the available retailer guidance does not specifically guarantee litter compatibility or unlimited use. Avoid assuming that a few successful reviews make it a manufacturer-approved litter vacuum.

Quickly remove air from vacuum storage bags with its powerful suction. All of this is possible with one compact device and its versatile attachments
Fleas
Do not buy the Duck as a flea-control device. Chewy notes that ordinary vacuuming may not fully capture fleas; proper flea-treatment methods are needed alongside cleaning. See Chewy’s product questions and answers.
Is the Horsepower Duck Vacuum a scam?
It is a real product listed by the Horsepower brand and established retailers, so the available evidence does not support calling it nonexistent or an outright scam. The more accurate concern is that the marketing is broader than the independently verifiable performance evidence. Phrases such as “any mess” and “ultra-powerful” can encourage buyers to expect more than a tiny spot cleaner can deliver.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesReview scores also require context. Retailer summaries combine different kinds of reviews, including verified purchases and free-product disclosures, and seller pages may show different review counts, prices, bundles, or stock information. That does not prove the reviews are false, but it does mean a high average score is not a substitute for controlled testing.
Who should buy it?
The Duck is a reasonable choice if you want a very small vacuum for quick jobs, mostly collect loose and lightweight dry debris, value car- or drawer-friendly storage, and accept frequent emptying and several hours of charging. It is most defensible when purchased from a seller with clear returns at a price materially below a larger, established handheld vacuum.
Who should skip it?
Look elsewhere if you have multiple heavy-shedding pets, need to remove embedded hair from carpet or upholstery, expect more than a few minutes of continuous use, want clearly documented replacement filters, regularly clean cat litter, or need to handle wet messes, fleas, workshop debris, or deep cleaning. If the Gold version approaches the price of a larger established handheld vacuum, its compactness may no longer justify the trade-off.
Alternatives by use case
| If you need… | Consider… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| More sustained handheld cleaning | A larger traditional handheld vacuum | Typically offers a larger cup and a more substantial battery and motor platform |
| Embedded pet hair | A pet-specific handheld with a powered brush | Agitation is more useful than suction alone for upholstery hair |
| Uninterrupted car cleaning | A corded car vacuum | No battery runtime limit, though portability is reduced |
| Whole-room floor cleaning | A stick vacuum | Designed for larger areas and longer sessions |
| Only light keyboard dust | A small desktop or keyboard vacuum | Less expensive and more appropriately sized for very light debris |
Established product families from BLACK+DECKER, BISSELL, and Shark may be better fits for buyers prioritizing a broader handheld range, pet tools, serviceability, or a larger cleaning platform. Current prices are not stated here because they vary by model and seller.
