Home Depot advertised a 2025 holiday offer for a free select power tool with the purchase of a select battery or tool kit. The retailer named Ryobi, Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita and Ridgid, but did not publish the full qualifying-item list or exact offer dates in its holiday guide. The promotion has expired; it is not a current deal as of October 4, 2026.
What was Home Depot’s free-tool offer?
Home Depot’s 2025 holiday gift guide described “getting a free select power tool with the purchase of a select battery or tool kit.” In other words, a qualifying purchase was required; the free tool was not offered on its own.

The guide does not spell out which batteries or kits qualified, which free tools were available, or the prices involved. Its examples—a DeWalt Atomic 20V Combo Kit and a Ryobi ONE+ 18V 6-Tool Combo Kit—are examples in the holiday tool guide, not proof that either kit qualified for the promotion.
Which brands did the guide name?
The retailer identified five brands in its description of the offer:
#1 Best Overall
- Drill/Driver features a 3/8" chuck, 0-650 rpm ideal for consumer DIY projects, 11 position clutch to prevent stripping of screws and damaging work material and an LED work light for increased visibility in tight or dark spaces
- The circular saw's compact design makes it easy to use and reduces fatigue. The 5.5" blade is capable of cutting 2x lumber, and its high torque motor makes it ideal for consumer DIY projects. Adjustments are quick and easy with the tool-free depth of cut and bevel settings for angled cutting.
- Work light features up to 11 hours of runtime
- 2 batteries double the runtime for less down time on larger projects
- Part of the BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX* Lithium Ion Battery System
- Ryobi
- Milwaukee
- DeWalt
- Makita
- Ridgid
That list establishes the brands Home Depot mentioned, not that every product from each brand was eligible.
When did the deal end?
The Home Depot guide does not give exact start or end dates for the free-tool promotion. DealNews reported that Home Depot’s broader early Black Friday sale ended November 29, 2025, but that secondary report does not confirm the dates or terms of every individual tool offer. By October 4, 2026, the 2025 holiday promotion is over.

Without item-specific offer terms, it is not possible to determine which exact purchase would have earned a free tool.

How to compare cordless tool kits instead
If you are shopping for a cordless kit now, compare the contents and platform rather than assuming a historical bundle applies:
Quick Recap
- Voltage and battery platform: Check whether the kit uses a platform you already own, such as Ryobi ONE+ 18V or DeWalt 20V.
- Tools included: Compare the specific tools in each kit against the work you need to do.
- Batteries and charger: Confirm whether the package includes batteries and a charger; the kit name alone may not establish what is in the box.
- Total price: Evaluate the current kit price on its own. A separate retailer or marketplace listing cannot reproduce Home Depot’s expired offer.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
