Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced Rs 2 crore for a new Government Senior Secondary School building in Rachauli on October 3, 2026. The announcement followed a student’s request during an interaction at Government Senior Secondary School, Rampur Bushahr. It is an announced allocation, not confirmation that funds have been formally sanctioned or released, or that construction has begun.
Why was a new building requested?
At the Rampur Bushahr school interaction, a student reportedly said Government Senior Secondary School, Rachauli, was operating from two locations. She also said adequate land was available at one site for a permanent building. The reports do not provide a site plan, land-area details, building design or construction specifications. 5 Dariya News reported the request and the chief minister’s response.
What did the chief minister announce?
Sukhu announced Rs 2 crore for construction of a new Rachauli school building. He also reportedly assured that the state could provide additional funds if needed to complete construction. That assurance does not, by itself, establish a formal project sanction, a released budget or a construction contract.
What is known about the project’s status?
Contemporary reports establish the October 3 announcement, but the available information does not establish that the project has moved into procurement or construction. No sanction order, fund-release record, tender, contract, construction start date or completion schedule was identified in the reporting. The Government of Himachal Pradesh roster identifies Sukhu as chief minister, but does not independently document this building announcement. Government of Himachal Pradesh

What other issues did students raise?
Reports of the interaction also mention concerns about education, tourism, social equality, drug abuse and teachers being assigned non-teaching duties. ANI reported a student’s account that her school had one Hindi teacher for around 150 students. That figure is attributed to the student and was not independently audited in the available reporting; it should not be treated as verified staffing data. ANI
