It combines shared calendars with child-facing routines, to-dos, chores, rewards, meal planning and a companion phone app. The trade-off is substantial: the hardware is listed at $699, and the features that make it more than a calendar generally require a paid Family Membership.
It is most compelling for families that want an always-visible household system and are willing to maintain routines and pay recurring software costs. It is less attractive if you only need a calendar, dislike subscriptions or already have a wall-mounted tablet that works well.

Its advertised features include:
- Shared family calendar views
- Google Calendar, iCal, Outlook and URL-based calendar connections
- Child-friendly routines with visual cues and icons
- To-dos, chores, lists and rewards
- Meal planning
- Family profiles and caregiver sharing
- A companion phone app for remote updates

The 27-inch screen: size and placement
Hearth lists the display at 27 inches diagonally, measuring approximately 16.5 inches wide by 26.7 inches tall and 1.2 inches deep. The package includes a custom mount, power cord and installation materials.
The dimensions and product imagery suggest a tall, portrait-style installation suited to a kitchen, entryway, family room or hallway. You will need a suitable wall and nearby power access. Before mounting it, consider:
- Whether every child can comfortably see and touch the screen
- Whether the mounting height works for wheelchair users and shorter children
- Whether the location is safe in a busy hallway or near doors
- Whether the screen will be readable in the room’s daylight
- Whether the wall is drywall, a stud-supported surface or masonry
- Whether a power cable can be routed safely and neatly
Hearth says installation can take 10 minutes or less. That is a manufacturer estimate for the physical setup, not a guarantee that the complete family system will be ready in 10 minutes. Calendar permissions, profiles, routines, task assignments and child onboarding take additional time.

The available current product information does not establish brightness, viewing angles, touch latency, refresh rate, speaker quality, power consumption or accessibility compliance. An older 2022 TechCrunch report described the display as 1080p and running Android in the background, but those are historical details rather than a complete current specification sheet.

What families can do with Hearth
Calendar management
Hearth advertises connections for Google Calendar, iCal, Outlook and URL-based calendars, including examples such as TeamSnap and school-district calendars. It offers daily, weekly and monthly views; the daily view can show up to 24 hours. Calendars can be assigned to family members or shared with caregivers such as grandparents and babysitters.
Calendar aggregation is not necessarily the same as full calendar replacement. Before relying on Hearth as the household’s only scheduling system, confirm:

Routines are intended for sequences such as getting ready in the morning, leaving for school, completing bedtime steps, handling weekend chores or following hygiene and self-care tasks. Hearth describes visual icons, streak tracking, custom imagery and routine views designed for different learning styles.
A practical routine might include:
- Get dressed
- Eat breakfast
- Brush teeth
- Pack the school bag
- Put on shoes
The value is not simply having a checklist. The routine needs realistic steps, an appropriate time, clear ownership and a review process when it stops matching the child’s ability or schedule.
Hearth positions its visual routines as support for children with different learning styles and executive-function needs. That is a product-positioning claim, not independent clinical evidence. Hearth should not be treated as a medical intervention for ADHD, autism or another condition.
To-dos, chores and rewards
Membership features include task management, lists, chores, custom rewards and related family-management tools. Tasks can be assigned to particular family members and marked complete on the display or through the companion app.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To make the system useful, parents still need to:
- Choose which tasks are genuinely recurring
- Assign responsibility clearly
- Set realistic completion times
- Teach children how to check tasks off
- Review skipped or overdue tasks
- Revise routines as school schedules and interests change
This can reduce scattered reminders, but it does not remove the administrative work of deciding what belongs in the system. If a family adds too many tasks, the display can become another source of noise.

Meal planning and Hearth Helper
Hearth lists meal planning and Hearth Helper among its membership features. Hearth describes Hearth Helper as an AI-powered organizing or scheduling companion. The available information does not establish that it is a general-purpose conversational AI, nor does it fully document what household data it can access, how responses are handled or whether capabilities vary by geography or membership plan.
Use it as a potentially useful product feature, not as a substitute for checking schedules, tasks or important household decisions.
What works without a Family Membership?
This is the most important distinction in the purchase decision. Hearth says membership activation is required to complete initial setup, and the first 30 days are included as a trial. After cancellation, basic calendar functionality remains available, but premium task and routine features are restricted.
| Function | Membership status |
|---|---|
| Basic calendar viewing | Available without an active membership, according to Hearth |
| Calendar syncing | Listed as a core feature available without membership |
| Unlimited profiles | Listed as available without membership |
| Basic profile information and settings | Available without membership |
| Custom routines | Membership required |
| Task management and to-dos | Membership required |
| Hearth Helper | Membership required |
| Meal planning | Membership required |
| Custom rewards and other premium tools | Membership required |
In practical terms, Hearth can continue as a basic calendar display after cancellation, but the subscription features most directly associated with chores, routines and family task management will not remain fully available. The exact behavior of existing tasks during cancellation should be confirmed with Hearth before purchase.
Check Hearth’s current membership terms.

- First year with monthly membership: $807
- First year with annual membership: $785.40
- Three years with the three-year membership plan: $906.36
- Three years paying monthly: $1,023
The membership trial lowers the initial risk of testing the software, but it does not change the long-term ownership cost. Compare the complete three-year total with a tablet, a software-only service and competing dedicated displays.
Setup and everyday ownership
Physical installation is only one part of setup. A typical household also needs to:
- Mount the display and connect power.
- Connect it to Wi-Fi and activate the membership trial.
- Create profiles for family members.
- Authorize and assign calendars.
- Build a small number of routines.
- Add recurring tasks and rewards.
- Install and configure the companion app.
- Teach children where to look and how to complete tasks.
Start with one short routine and a few recurring tasks rather than importing every responsibility at once. A screen mounted too high, overloaded with tasks or paired with vague instructions may not reduce verbal reminders.
Wi-Fi interruptions and calendar failures
Hearth says that if the display loses internet access, the companion phone app remains accessible until Wi-Fi is restored and information is not lost. That does not establish that the wall display itself offers full offline operation. The available source does not confirm whether the physical display continues to show, edit or accept updates normally without internet access.
If a calendar does not appear correctly, check:
- Calendar authorization and permissions
- Whether the source calendar is read-only
- Expired account connections
- Duplicate calendar subscriptions
- Family-member assignment and visibility
- URL calendar refresh delays
- Time-zone, recurring-event and daylight-saving settings
Connect and test one calendar first. Confirm that events appear under the correct person before adding school, sports, work and caregiver calendars.

Privacy and family data
Hearth’s features involve calendar information, family profiles, caregiver access, routines, task completion and optional feelings-related features. Hearth also advertises Privacy Mode and Hearth Helper.

- 4 ms response time reduces motion blur and ghosting, delivering smooth frame transitions in high-speed gaming and video playback
- Adaptive Sync tearing prevention technology provides a distortion-free and reliable display by reducing screen tearing artifacts

Before buying, review Hearth’s current privacy documentation for details that are not established by the available product pages, including data retention, encryption, AI-data handling, third-party processing and whether children’s task or feelings data is used to improve the product. Treat “Today’s Feelings” and “Feelings Reports” as optional check-in or reporting features—not as mental-health monitoring, diagnosis or therapy.
Advantages
- High visibility: A permanent wall display is easier for some families to notice than a phone app.
- Purpose-built workflow: Calendar, routines, chores and rewards are designed to work together.
- Child-facing design: Visual cues and profiles can make responsibilities easier to understand.
- Remote updates: Parents can manage information through the companion app.
- Shared household awareness: Family members can refer to one physical source of truth.
- Trial and return window: Hearth advertises a 30-day membership trial and a 120-day hardware return period.
Disadvantages
- High total price: The hardware costs more than many tablets and still requires paid software for the full experience.
- Subscription dependence: The basic calendar remains, but routines and task-management features are premium.
- Ongoing maintenance: Adults must keep calendars, routines and assignments accurate.
- Wall-placement constraints: A large portrait display needs a suitable wall, power access and an accessible height.
- Potential overkill: Calendar-only households may not use enough of the premium system to justify the cost.
- Incomplete current specifications: Brightness, resolution and several technical details are not established by the current product information reviewed here.
Alternatives
Tablet plus family-management software
A wall-mounted tablet offers more software choice and can run calendars, task apps, smart-home controls and other general-purpose applications. It may cost less initially, but the buyer must handle the mount, charging, kiosk mode, updates, privacy settings and child-friendly configuration.
Ohana Wall
Ohana Wall is a software-first alternative designed to use an existing tablet or device. Its site advertises a 90-day free trial, no credit card for the trial and no hardware purchase. It may suit families that already own suitable hardware, but it does not provide Hearth’s dedicated 27-inch appliance.
Mango Display
Mango Display is another family-display option. Current screen sizes, pricing, subscription requirements and integrations should be checked on the official product pages before making a direct comparison.
Cozyla
Cozyla is a dedicated family-display alternative that comparison coverage describes as subscription-free and lower priced. Verify the current model, calendar integrations, chore and routine features, warranty and software support directly with Cozyla.
Skylight Calendar
Skylight Calendar is a major competitor in the dedicated family-calendar category. Compare current models, screen sizes, task features, subscription rules, mounting options and return terms from Skylight’s official pages rather than relying on older comparison tables.
Who should buy Hearth Display?
Hearth is worth serious consideration if your household wants a permanent, child-facing display that combines calendars with routines and tasks, and you accept the $699 hardware price plus ongoing membership costs. It is especially suitable when a visible physical system is more likely to be used than scattered phone apps.
Skip it or compare alternatives first if you:
- Do not want a recurring subscription
- Only need shared calendar visibility
- Already have a successful calendar and chore system
- Rent or cannot safely mount a large display
- Want arbitrary apps, streaming or a general-purpose Android touchscreen
- Primarily need a private adult calendar rather than child-facing routines
Hearth’s core decision is therefore not whether a 27-inch screen looks impressive. It is whether your family will consistently use a dedicated visual system—and whether its routines, tasks and rewards justify a first-year cost of roughly $785 to $807 before tax and delivery.
