Recalibration deserves particular care. The project says recalibration moves the desk down to its lowest possible limit and warns users to be cautious and ready to disconnect power if needed. It also recommends keeping the original Bekant controller board, even though the original board is not needed for Megadesk recalibration. Do not begin recalibration without accounting for the desk’s movement and anything beneath or around it.

The Companion is a separate option for owners who specifically want smart-home integration; it is not required to use Megadesk’s memory functions. Its wiring documentation includes electrical details that should not be simplified into generic connection advice. In particular, the project identifies red-plus terminals on both sides as the 24 V source and documents different wiring for three-pin and five-pin units. Who should consider the upgrade
- Consider it if you own a compatible Bekant, regularly change desk height, and value repeatable saved positions enough to replace the controller.
