Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 is a genuine second-generation product family, not simply a renamed first-generation kit. In the United States, the range includes 50-, 100-, and 150-foot versions, sold under models H705D, H705E, and H705F. Matter support can make Apple Home integration possible, but it does not turn every Govee Home feature into a native HomeKit control.
Lights 2 is a strong fit for a straightforward roofline, vivid multicolor effects, and basic cross-platform smart-home control. It is a weaker choice for complex rooflines that require cutting, bright security lighting, dedicated cool-white output, or full access to Govee’s advanced effects inside Apple Home.

What exactly is Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2?
These are low-voltage, permanently mounted roofline lights designed to remain installed year-round. Individual addressable light nodes sit beneath eaves, fascia, or roof edges, replacing the need to install and remove seasonal string lights.

| Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 | H705E | 100 ft |

Govee identifies the Elite name with this Lights 2 family, particularly the 150-foot H705F. Retail bundles can use different names or include different length options, so check the model number rather than relying on “Elite” or “Lights 2” alone. See Govee’s product listing before ordering.

The RGBICW design allows multiple colors to appear along the string simultaneously rather than displaying only one color across the entire set. The Govee Home app provides the fullest experience, including scene presets, custom effects, schedules, AI-generated lighting, and music features.
Lights 2 is not the same as the Pro model’s white-light system. Govee’s comparison material places Lights 2 at approximately 4000K, while Pro adds dedicated cool-white capability up to 6500K. If crisp daylight-style white is important, Pro is the more suitable option.
Does Govee Lights 2 work with Apple Home or HomeKit?
It can work with Apple Home through Matter, but that is different from having a feature-complete native Govee HomeKit integration. Matter is an interoperability standard. It can let a compatible light appear in Apple Home and participate in Apple automations, but it does not guarantee that manufacturer-specific features will be exposed.

How to add Lights 2 to Apple Home using Matter
- Install the lights and power them on.
- Install or update the Govee Home app.
- Pair the lights in Govee Home first if the included instructions require it.
- Open the device settings in Govee Home and locate the Matter QR code or numeric setup code.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
- Open Apple Home and choose Add Accessory.
- Scan the Matter code or enter the numeric code.
- Assign the lights to a room, then test on/off, brightness, and color.
- Return to Govee Home for advanced scenes and effects.
Govee’s available Matter guide says initial commissioning may need to be completed within 15 minutes of powering on, requires an IPv6-capable network, and can stop working after a network change. The surfaced guide is labeled H7056 rather than H705D, H705E, or H705F, so compare it with the manual supplied with your exact kit before treating any button sequence as model-specific.
If Matter pairing fails
- Check that Bluetooth is enabled.
- Ensure the phone and Apple Home setup are using the intended home network.
- Confirm that IPv6 is available and that VLAN or smart-home isolation is not blocking commissioning.
- Try pairing shortly after powering on the lights.
- Use the code shown by the device or Govee Home rather than relying only on a box label.
- Remove the accessory from another Matter ecosystem if it was previously commissioned.
- Power-cycle the adapter and control box.
- If the network changed, repeat Matter commissioning.
- Use the documented factory-reset procedure only after recording schedules and settings. Govee’s guide identifies a five-second press-and-hold of the control-box power button, but verify this against your exact manual.
- If Apple Home detects the lights but cannot control them, test them in Govee Home to separate a Matter-controller issue from a network or hardware issue.
A reset is not guaranteed to solve every Matter problem. Network configuration, controller compatibility, IPv6, or prior commissioning may be the real cause.
Installation: the limitation that matters most
Lights 2 is not cuttable. Measure the complete roofline before buying, including eaves, dormers, windows, garages, chimneys, and planned transitions. Choose the closest available kit length rather than assuming the string can be trimmed at the end.
Rank #3
- RGBICW Lighting Effects: Set each LED light bulb to a different color, making the light effects feel more comfortable. It can be used as daily and accent lighting. With up to 100 lumens per bulb, the color temperature is 2700K. Combine 3 ropes of 48ft lights for everyday use. Please note the total length should not exceed 144ft (including adapter).
- Creative DIY Mode: Choose from 47 scene modes and 16 million colors to illuminate your yard with Govee outdoor string lights for every occasion. Bring outdoor decorations to life with vibrant colors and help your courtyard stand out.
- AI Generative Lighting & Smart Control: With the AI Lighting Bot 2.0, simply speak, type, or snap a photo to share your idea—it interprets your intent, generates tailored lighting effects. Use Govee Home App or pair with Alexa and Google Assistant to adjust brightness, change colors and set timer effortlessly. Requires latest Govee Home App version.
- Outdoor Durability: Enjoy outdoor lights, regardless of the weather conditions. With added anti-UV material, the string lights and control box are IP65 waterproof. The adapter should be placed indoors or connected into a socket with an IP65 protective enclosure.
- Shatterproof Design for Full Protection: Govee outdoor lights are shatterproof, even when knocked over. These string lights with 25,000H LED lifespan can work in bad weather conditions from -20 °C to 60 °C, ensuring your Halloween-ready garden stays beautiful all season long.
Recommended installation sequence
- Measure and plan. Decide where the controller and power adapter will sit and how excess length will be concealed.
- Test everything first. Connect and operate the entire string before applying adhesive or clips.
- Prepare the surface. Clean and dry the mounting area. VHB adhesive is unreliable on dirty, damp, cold, rough, or porous surfaces.
- Mount consistently. Position each node at a uniform distance beneath the eave or roof edge for an even appearance.
- Reinforce with clips. Use the supplied clips, particularly on exposed sections. Adhesive should not be the only retention method where wind and weather are significant.
- Leave service slack. Avoid burying every connection behind permanent finishes; accessible slack makes troubleshooting and replacement easier.
- Protect the controller. Place the control box where it has a clear wireless path and is protected as required by the instructions.
- Use safe power. Govee specifies a covered Class A GFCI receptacle with a weatherproof enclosure. Use the supplied adapter.
Compatible extension lights can expand H705D and H705E systems, but Govee limits the completed system to 150 feet / 45 meters. The product page also lists limits for light sections and extension cables. These are system limits, not permission to create arbitrary custom lengths, and Lights 2 extensions should not be assumed compatible with first-generation H705A, H705B, or H705C products.
Outdoor durability and electrical safety
The light string is rated IP67, while the control box is listed as IP65. Treat these as component-specific ratings, not a claim that the whole assembled electrical system can be submerged. Verify the power adapter’s exact rating in the packaging or manual rather than describing it broadly as waterproof.
The low-voltage light string’s outdoor rating does not remove the need for a protected mains connection. Keep the plug and receptacle protected from weather and use the required GFCI enclosure. If the installation requires new exterior electrical work, use a qualified electrician.

Lights 2 versus Govee Pro versus Prism
| Criterion | Lights 2 | Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro | Permanent Outdoor Lights Prism |
|---|---|---|---|
| Positioning | Govee’s value-oriented option | More versatile premium option | Flagship premium design |
| Stated brightness | 40 lumens per light | 50 lumens per light | Higher brightness claimed by Govee; verify current specification |
| White light | Warm white, approximately up to 4000K | Warm and cool white, up to 6500K | RGBWWIC premium system; verify current specification |
| Cuttable | No | Yes, according to Govee | Check the exact current model |
| Maximum length | 150 ft / 45 m | Approximately 200 ft / 60 m | Check the exact current model |
| Weather rating | Light string IP67; control box IP65 | Check current product specification | Govee positions it with IP68 protection |
| Best suited to | Simple rooflines and colorful effects | Complex layouts and flexible white lighting | Buyers prioritizing the newest premium design |
These distinctions come from Govee’s own product comparisons and positioning, not independent brightness or durability testing. Prism may justify its higher price for buyers who value newer hardware and stronger weather protection; it is unnecessary if a simple roofline mainly needs basic Matter control and colorful effects.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Vivid multicolor RGBICW effects.
- 100 preset scenes plus DIY and AI features in Govee Home.
- Matter support for potential Apple Home and other ecosystem integration.
- 50-, 100-, and 150-foot configurations.
- Simpler than a cuttable system because there is no cutting or splicing.
- IP67-rated light string.
- Generally positioned below Govee’s premium Pro and Prism systems.
Cons
- The string cannot be cut.
- It lacks the Pro’s dedicated cool-white range.
- Apple Home may expose fewer features than Govee Home.
- Adhesive performance depends heavily on surface preparation and weather.
- The control hardware and mains connection still need protected outdoor installation.
- 40 lumens per node is not a substitute for security or flood lighting.
Who should buy it?
- Apple Home users: Choose it if Matter-based basic control and automations are enough, while accepting that Govee Home remains necessary for advanced effects.
- Holiday-light buyers: It is well suited to vivid colors, gradients, preset scenes, and year-round decorative use.
- Homeowners with straightforward rooflines: A clean, measured layout and suitable mounting surface reduce the biggest installation risks.
Who should choose something else?
Choose Govee Pro if the roofline requires cutting, splicing, longer expansion, higher stated brightness, or both warm and cool white. Consider Prism if the newest premium Govee design and IP68 positioning justify the additional cost.
Reconsider permanent Lights 2 altogether if you need true native HomeKit access to every Govee effect, bright uniform security illumination, a custom-cut layout, or installation on a surface that cannot reliably hold adhesive and clips.
Price and model-checking advice
Govee’s US product page displayed $329.99 on August 18, 2026, but the page includes multiple lengths and colors and the extracted listing does not make the selected variant completely clear. Treat that figure as a dated price signal, not a universal price. Before buying, confirm the exact model, length, housing color, extension compatibility, and sale status at the retailer.

Govee also publishes manufacturer claims about features such as lifespan and warranty for its permanent-light range. Those should not be treated as independently measured service-life results. Current details are available on the Govee permanent outdoor lights collection page.
Final verdict
Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 is a sensible value choice when your roofline fits a fixed 50-, 100-, or 150-foot configuration and you want strong multicolor effects with Matter-based smart-home compatibility. It is not the right purchase if “HomeKit compatible” means every Govee scene must appear in Apple Home, or if the installation requires cutting and custom routing. Measure first, verify the model number, and plan to use Govee Home alongside Apple Home.
