In a January 2021 feature, Treehugger described Goldune as a newly launched online shop for sustainable household and personal-care goods. Its proposition was a curated range of products paired with guidance on how to dispose of them at the end of their use. That account documents Goldune’s launch-era offering; it does not establish whether the shop operates today.
What Goldune offered at launch
Treehugger reported that Goldune had opened about three months before its January 28, 2021 feature. Founder Azora Zoe Paknad’s shop brought together household and personal-care items intended for shoppers looking to make greener choices without having to adopt a strict zero-waste ideal.
The feature named products across three broad categories:
Kitchen
- Biodegradable sponges
- Bamboo compost bins
- Reusable straws
- Glass-and-cork jars
Personal care
- Bamboo bathrobes
- Plastic-free hair ties
- Deodorant in paper tubes
- Toothpaste tabs
- Tree-free toilet paper
Home
- Cushions
- Dishes
- Linens
These are examples Treehugger reported in 2021, not verified current listings or a guarantee that the products remain available. The article does not identify a particular compost-bin brand or model.

A welcoming approach to sustainable shopping
Paknad framed Goldune as a place for people who wanted to do somewhat better for the planet on their own terms, rather than feel judged for not meeting an exacting environmental standard. Treehugger also described the shop as seeking to include shoppers who felt excluded by the imagery and language common in sustainability marketing.
As the feature put it, Paknad said: “Shopping won’t save the world, Azora Zoe Paknad says, ‘but if you can do a little bit better by the planet on your own terms, wouldn’t you?’” The idea is modest: choosing a lower-waste product can be one practical step, not a complete solution to environmental problems.

Product disposal guidance was part of the offer
Treehugger reported that Goldune product listings included an “End of Life” description explaining how to dispose of an item after use, with guidance that could cover packaging as well as the product. Paknad presented that information as part of extending responsibility beyond shipping. This describes the website as reported in 2021; it does not confirm what any current Goldune listing contains.
What the reported supplier figures mean
Treehugger reported Paknad’s description of the shop’s handmade products as coming from companies that were 70% women-owned and 29% BIPOC-owned. Those percentages are figures reported by Treehugger in 2021, not current ownership rates or an independently audited certification. The feature does not explain the calculation, denominator, or verification method, so the numbers should be read as attributed claims rather than a standardized measure.
