Flying Cement Company Limited (PSX: FLYNG) reported that its new Line-II reached Commercial Operations Date (COD) on October 7, 2026, after commissioning and a trial run. The same update said daily cement dispatches remained volatile, attributing the fluctuation primarily to slower construction activity. COD marks a commercial-operating milestone; it does not by itself establish steady utilization, output or profitability.

What Flying Cement reported on October 7

Mettis Global reported that Flying Cement’s exchange notification announced Line-II COD following commissioning and a trial run. The report also described daily dispatches as volatile and said the company attributed that volatility primarily to a slowdown in construction activity. The exchange filing itself is not available in the retrieved material, so the dispatch explanation should be understood as the company’s reported explanation, not an independently measured sector-wide finding. The update provides no daily dispatch volumes, volatility measure, comparison period or trend. It therefore does not establish whether dispatches rose or fell, by how much, or over what interval.

What Line-II COD means—and what it does not

Commercial Operations Date indicates that the company reported the line as having moved beyond commissioning and a trial run into commercial operations. It answers whether Flying Cement says Line-II has reached that milestone: yes. The announcement does not quantify the line’s subsequent production or demonstrate that it is running at full capacity.

Historical company briefing material described Line-II as a clinker line designed for 9,000 tonnes per day and said it would take planned total capacity to 13,000 tonnes per day after COD. These are 2024 planning/design figures reproduced by MarketScreener, not current output, cement dispatches, grinding capacity, utilization or proof of the line’s economics. 2024 Flying Cement briefing reproduced by MarketScreener

Why dispatches can remain volatile after COD

COD is a milestone for a production line; dispatches are the cement a company sends out. The two measures are not interchangeable. A line can reach commercial operations while sales and dispatch activity still vary. In this update, the stated explanation was slower construction activity, but the report gives no figures or further detail with which to measure that effect or separate it from other possible influences.

Flying Cement is a cement producer whose website identifies ordinary Portland cement among its products. That context explains why construction activity is relevant to the company’s reported dispatch outlook, but it does not make the October update evidence of a wider market trend. Flying Cement’s investor-information page lists financial reports, including an annual report for the year ended June 30, 2026. Those filings may provide broader company context, but they should not be treated as evidence of post-COD performance unless they report results for the relevant period.
