The council’s wording was: “The new contract will have a duration of 48 months, commencing 02/09/2026 and will have a whole life cost circa £400,000.”

Later award listings report a specific price of £351,903.33 excluding VAT. OpenTenders rounds that to £351,903 excluding VAT and reports £422,000 including VAT. The circa £400,000 figure is the council’s estimate at the decision stage; the other values are award-listing figures, with the VAT-inclusive amount stated separately.

Earlier procurement material for the 2024–2026 contract also referred to maintenance under each bridge’s operating and maintenance manual and a three-hour emergency attendance target, but that earlier specification does not establish that every requirement is unchanged in the new contract.
