What paint color did Erin Napier use in her kitchen?
Tasting Table reported on September 7, 2026, that Napier used Benjamin Moore Misty Air OC-44 on the walls and Dover White on the trim, oven, and hood. The report attributes the account to a 2021 Laurel Mercantile blog post; the specific color pairing should therefore be understood as reported, not as a manufacturer-endorsed set.
Napier’s stated aim was a cream that felt integrated into the room rather than newly painted and stark. As quoted by Tasting Table, she said: “Misty Air, after many tests, read perfectly cozy and worn and creamy in the late afternoon sun in our kitchen.” She also advised choosing a color with “a bit of yellow in it” so it feels at home in its surroundings.
Why Misty Air reads softly rather than dramatically
Benjamin Moore describes Misty Air as an off-white with warm green undertones and gives it an LRV of 70.28. LRV, or light reflectance value, describes how much visible light a color reflects; the figure is a manufacturer specification, not a measure of how a particular kitchen will look. Misty Air is a light wall color, so the contrast in this palette comes from its relationship with the surrounding white elements and finishes, not from a bold, dark paint field.

In a construction or renovation plan, that distinction matters: a wall color, cabinet color, and fixed-fixture color occupy different visual areas and interact with different materials. This reported combination puts the warm off-white on the walls, while Dover White appears on the trim, oven, and hood.
How this differs from Erin Napier’s other kitchen colors
Napier’s kitchens are not associated with one universal palette. Separate coverage describes different color placements and combinations, so a cabinet-color story or renovation with teal accents should not be treated as evidence for the Misty Air wall palette.

For the teal-and-cream renovation, the sink is a design feature with practical construction implications: farmhouse sinks can require appropriate cabinet support, adequate space, and precise installation. Those considerations belong to that specific fixture choice, not to the Misty Air paint combination.

The specific surrounding colors identified in the report are Dover White on the trim, oven, and hood. Benjamin Moore also lists expert-picked coordinating colors on its Misty Air page, but that does not establish that those colors were used in Napier’s kitchen. Treat them as manufacturer suggestions rather than details of her room.

To adapt the look, consider the room’s fixed finishes—countertops, flooring, appliances, and trim—as well as the undertones in adjacent materials. A warm off-white can appear different beside cool gray stone than beside wood or cream finishes; the practical test is how the actual sample reads in the space and lighting where it will be used.

How to test the combination before committing
- Get a real color chip or sample. Benjamin Moore warns that screen representations may differ from actual paint color. View the manufacturer’s Misty Air OC-44 page for the color and sample options.
- Check it in the intended room. Look at the sample in morning and late-afternoon light and beside the materials that will remain, especially trim, counters, flooring, and appliances.
- Confirm the color placement. The reported scheme uses Misty Air on walls and Dover White on trim, oven, and hood. If you are considering a cabinet color instead, evaluate that as a different palette and surface area.
- Coordinate with the project scope. Confirm which surfaces are being painted and which are fixed or being replaced before selecting finishes. A wall sample cannot show how a different cabinet, tile, or fixture choice will change the overall balance.
