When does Encore expect water-damage calls to peak?
In an announcement dated October 8, 2026, Encore co-owner Jason Lokhmatov said the company expects 10 to 15 water-damage jobs per day from mid-November to early February. The estimate describes Encore’s anticipated workload; the announcement provides no methodology or independent corroboration, so it should not be read as a count or forecast for all Western Washington homes.

Lokhmatov attributed the busy period to freezes, rain-related flooding and holiday travel. The announcement does not provide independent county-level risk figures or establish a precise weather threshold at which pipes are at risk.

What causes of damage does Encore report seeing?
Encore says failed pipes and supply lines are the leading causes among the water-damage calls it handles, followed by appliance failures and accidents such as overflowing tubs or DIY plumbing repairs. This is the company’s account of its own work, not a regional ranking. It also reports that water damage accounts for about 70% of its work; that share is company-reported and is not a measure of local incident rates.

What should homeowners check before winter?
Encore recommends checking the shutoff valves beneath sinks and behind toilets, and learning where the home’s main water shutoff is before cold weather arrives. In a leak, knowing how to stop the flow quickly can limit the amount of water released.
- Fixture shutoffs: Locate and check the under-sink and toilet valves so you know where they are and can reach them.
- Main shutoff: Find the home’s main water shutoff and make sure household members know its location.
- Travel plans: Before leaving home, consider the risk of an undetected leak while the house is unattended. The announcement highlights holiday travel as a factor in the calls Encore receives but does not prescribe a specific travel-preparation routine.
The announcement does not give technical pipe-freezing thresholds or specific insulation instructions, so it cannot support a universal temperature rule or a particular prevention method.

What should you do if you suspect a leak?
Act promptly. If it is safe and practical, shut off the water at the relevant fixture valve or the main shutoff, then contact an appropriate plumbing or water-damage professional. Lokhmatov’s advice in the announcement is direct: “The first thing you do when your house floods is go turn the water off.”

What does Encore say about its service area?
Encore says it serves Skagit, Snohomish, King, Whatcom and Island counties and offers free on-site inspections. These are company statements in its announcement; confirm current service availability and inspection terms directly with the company. The release also describes its work as including water-damage mitigation, contents packout and storage, and reconstruction.
