That asking price is historical reporting, not confirmation that the house is still for sale.
What makes this Palm Springs home a “happy house”?
The house’s identity comes from a vivid combination of architecture, art and furnishings—not from any measured psychological effect. Freeman called it “a happy house,” while Faure described his approach to the interiors as “happy chic.” Those are the owners’ characterizations; “dopamine design” is a popular label, not evidence that a particular color scheme produces a clinical or predictable mood response.
Mansion Global describes a white stucco facade, hot-pink double-height entry doors and an open-plan common area. The home has three bedrooms, an angled bonus room, a pool and views toward the San Jacinto Mountains. The report gives its area as 2,237 square feet. Mansion Global’s feature is the source for the property description and seller comments.
How architecture and art shape the design
A striking entry and open interior
The pink double-height doors make the facade’s strongest statement against the white stucco. Inside, the open common area and bright palette continue the expressive feel. Faure said, “I never thought in my life I would have a house with pink doors,” and called it “so colorful, so different. And so Palm Springs.”

Eight murals by Shawn Savage
Local Palm Springs artist Shawn Savage created eight colorful murals for the property, including work on the facade and a mural beside the pool. Mansion Global reports that the previous owners commissioned Savage during their renovation. The murals are therefore part of the home’s story as a site-specific art project, rather than a collection of reproductions whose availability is established. Savage died in 2024; the available reporting does not establish that reproductions of his work are licensed or for sale.
Outdoor space and setting
The poolside mural brings the artwork into the outdoor area, while views toward the San Jacinto Mountains connect the house to its Palm Springs setting. The report places the home in the Mesa neighborhood; it does not establish that the property was included in any official Modernism Week home tour.

How the owners furnished the “happy chic” rooms
Faure furnished the home with Jonathan Adler furniture, rugs and accessories, using the furnishings to complement the colorful architecture and murals. He said, “It was enjoyable for me to play with different types of furniture and make this house ‘happy chic,’ as I describe it.” He also said, “It felt like living in an art gallery, and you have the exterior that you would share with the world.”
The couple said they were open to selling the collection with the house. That does not establish that the furnishings were included in a completed sale. For a similar broad design direction, Jonathan Adler home decor accessories can serve as inspiration; no exact product models or identical online items are identified in the property report.

Who owned the home, and what did it cost?
Mansion Global identifies the sellers as Los Angeles-based partners John Freeman, an attorney and consultant, and Mathieu Faure, an Apple TV producer originally from Paris. They found the property during a search in winter 2023. Freeman said, “We really liked the feel of the house: the uniqueness, the openness, the brightness—and the art.” He also called it “a very friendly place.”

What “ahead of Modernism Week” means
The phrase refers to the home feature’s original event context, not an upcoming festival. The City of Palm Springs calendar lists the 2025 February Modernism Week for February 13–23, 2025. The City later said the 2026 festival ran February 12–22 and offered more than 450 programs. Those dates are past as of October 2026. Neither city listing establishes that this particular home participated in the official home-tour program.
