DJI’s first robot-vacuum family is called ROMO, and its first-generation lineup contains three models: ROMO S, ROMO A, and ROMO P. They share the same headline platform—up to 25,000 Pa of rated suction, binocular fisheye cameras, solid-state LiDAR, dual extendable edge-cleaning arms, anti-tangle rollers, and an automated cleaning dock. The meaningful differences are the design, brush configuration, deodorizing hardware, included features, and price.
Availability is regional rather than worldwide. DJI announced ROMO in Japan on February 26, 2026, while official regional stores list the products in several other markets. The regular U.S. DJI Store homepage does not clearly list ROMO, so American buyers should confirm local shipping, warranty, app compatibility, voltage, and consumables before importing one.

ROMO is DJI’s first domestic robot-vacuum product family: a set of robot vacuum-and-mop systems rather than a RoboMaster product or drone accessory. DJI’s Japanese announcement on February 26, 2026 described ROMO as the company’s first robot-vacuum series. Products had appeared in other markets before that announcement, so there is no single date that accurately describes worldwide availability.

The three models are not three unrelated machines. They use the same broad navigation, suction, edge-cleaning, mopping, and dock-cleaning architecture. ROMO S is the standard edition, ROMO A is the advanced middle model, and ROMO P is the flagship.
DJI ROMO S: the baseline model
ROMO S is the straightforward choice for buyers who care more about the shared cleaning platform than transparent hardware or deodorizing features. It has a white robot and white base station, a rated maximum suction of 25,000 Pa, DJI’s binocular-vision-and-LiDAR sensing system, dual extendable arms for edges and corners, and dual anti-tangle rollers.
The S does not have the transparent robot body used by the A and P, and DJI’s comparison material does not list the P model’s floor-deodorizer compartment. That makes it the logical value candidate, assuming the local price difference is meaningful and the buyer does not need the higher-tier package.
Recommended Free Tools
It is still a premium robot vacuum. The S retains the automated dock, high-pressure washboard cleaning concept, mopping system, and core obstacle-detection hardware. The lower position in the lineup should not be mistaken for a budget product.
DJI ROMO A: the middle option
ROMO A adds a transparent robot body while keeping a white base station. DJI also lists a bristle-and-rubber roller-brush configuration for this model.
Its main appeal is balance. The A offers a more visually distinctive design and the upgraded brush configuration without adding every feature associated with the P. Its navigation and headline suction rating remain part of the same shared ROMO platform as the S.

Choose the A when the transparent robot and brush arrangement matter enough to justify the premium over the S, but the P’s transparent dock and deodorizer are not important. Buyers should check the exact contents of their regional bundle because accessories and promotions can vary by market.

ROMO P is the most fully equipped model in DJI’s comparison. It combines a transparent robot with a transparent base station, the bristle-and-rubber roller brush, and an additional floor-deodorizer compartment.
DJI positions the P toward homes with children or pets. The deodorizer is the most practical differentiator over the A, while the transparent dock is primarily a design distinction. It is the right model for buyers who specifically value floor deodorizing and want the top package—not automatically the right model for every home.
The P is only modestly more expensive than the A in the Canada-region price display cited above. That gap may change with local pricing, taxes, currency conversion, and promotions, so it should not be treated as a universal upgrade cost.
What all three ROMO models share
- Up to 25,000 Pa of rated suction: this is DJI’s maximum specification, not an independent measure of total cleaning performance.
- Binocular fisheye vision and solid-state LiDAR: the system is designed to map rooms and identify household obstacles.
- Dual extendable cleaning arms: the arms move toward walls and corners to reduce the uncleaned strip common with round robots.
- Dual anti-tangle rollers: these are intended to reduce hair and debris wrapping around the brush system.
- 164 mL onboard water tank: DJI lists this capacity for the robot.
- Automated dock cleaning: the dock uses high-pressure water jets to clean its washboard and has a large waste-suction port.
- Three-stage sound suppression: DJI presents this as part of the dock and cleaning design, but noise claims should be interpreted using the company’s stated measurement conditions.
- Customizable mopping solutions: DJI supports the use of its cleaning liquids where offered and supported in the relevant market.
- Up to 200 days of maintenance-free operation under stated conditions: this is a qualified design claim, not a promise that the robot never needs attention.
How DJI’s sensing technology translates to a home
DJI’s central pitch is that its experience with cameras, sensing, and obstacle detection can improve a floor robot. ROMO combines binocular fisheye vision with wide-angle solid-state LiDAR. DJI says the system is intended to detect fine objects, including objects approximately 2 mm thick under stated conditions.

A pet accident is an especially important example: no obstacle-avoidance system should be treated as reliably safe around liquid waste.

- High-Powered 25,000Pa Suction Performance: Powerfully clean hard floors and carpets with 25,000Pa suction and 5 suction levels for a customized clean throughout your home.
- Tackle Corner Messes with Ease: L40 Ultra Gen 2 extends its brush and mop to reach corners and under furniture, delivering a deeper clean where most vacuums fail.
- Less Manual Maintenance: All-in-one self-cleaning dock streamlines the autonomous cleaning experience. 4 tailored modes let you care for carpets with precision—carpet avoidance, suction boost, intensive carpet cleaning, and 0.41in mop lifting.
- Your Trusted Navigator for Cleaner Spaces: L40 Ultra Gen 2 maps your home with precision and avoids obstacles like shoes using Smart Pathfinder and 3DAdapt technologies.
- Healthier Home for Your Pets: Maintain clean pet zones with less manual effort, fostering a healthier, happier, and safer environment for your pets.
DJI’s regional store information also says ROMO is not water resistant. Do not send it through standing water or expect it to clean a spill involving a substantial amount of liquid.
For the first mapping run, tidy cables, small toys, clothing, and other high-risk objects even if the robot advertises fine-object detection. Verify threshold performance, rug behavior, mop lifting, and no-mop-zone controls in the app version supplied for your region.
What the extendable arms can—and cannot—do
The dual arms extend outward to bring cleaning components closer to walls and into corners. This addresses one of the most visible weaknesses of many round robot vacuums: a narrow strip of dust left beside baseboards.
The arms do not make every corner perfectly clean. Furniture geometry, deep corners, raised thresholds, uneven baseboards, and objects close to the wall can still block access. Occasional manual cleaning remains necessary, particularly in tight corners and behind furniture.
What DJI’s “200 days” claim means
The 200-day statement should not be rewritten as “the dock never needs cleaning.” DJI ties the claim to the washboard design, high-pressure water jets, and waste-suction system under specified conditions.
Normal ownership can still involve:
- Refilling clean water and cleaning solution.
- Emptying or replacing dock consumables where applicable.
- Cleaning filters and sensors.
- Checking the rollers, wheels, and edge-cleaning components.
- Inspecting the dock, washboard, drainage path, and waste-suction area.
- Removing objects that become trapped despite obstacle avoidance.
Consult the official user manual for the maintenance schedule and setup requirements. DJI’s manual recommends “Vacuum Then Mop” for the first cleaning, which is a sensible way to remove loose debris before wet cleaning.

Availability, pricing, and regional buying risks
Official DJI regional stores list ROMO S, A, and P, including the product pages linked in the table above. The Japan announcement confirms a February 26, 2026 introduction in that market, but announcement, sale, shipping, and local support are separate questions.
As of August 18, 2026, the regular U.S. DJI Store homepage did not visibly list ROMO among its principal product categories. That does not prove that no U.S. route will ever exist, but it does mean buyers should not assume U.S. availability.
Before purchasing from another region, confirm:
- Whether DJI will ship to your address.
- Warranty coverage and repair arrangements in your country.
- Local plug and voltage compatibility.
- DJI Home or related app availability and account-region requirements.
- Whether firmware, voice controls, mapping features, or smart-home integrations vary by region.
- Availability and cost of cleaning liquid, filters, dust bags, brushes, mop parts, and deodorizer refills.
- Whether the model or dock is region locked.
Imported hardware may be attractive on paper but poor value if a replacement brush, filter, dock component, or warranty repair is difficult to obtain.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Software maturity and privacy considerations
ROMO is DJI’s first robot-vacuum family, so software support deserves more attention than it might for a long-established robot-vacuum specialist. DJI has published official ROMO release notes; an April 13, 2026 document identifies firmware V01.00.15.
Firmware can improve navigation and app behavior, but it can also mean that advertised controls and smart-home compatibility depend on the current regional software version. Check update notes before purchase and keep expectations tied to the features available for your market.

Which DJI ROMO should you buy?
Choose ROMO S if value is the priority
Buy the S if you want the shared suction, navigation, mopping, edge-cleaning, and dock platform without paying for transparent hardware or the P’s deodorizer. It is the strongest value candidate when local pricing makes the gap to the A or P substantial.
Choose ROMO A if you want the middle ground
The A makes sense if the transparent robot and bristle-and-rubber brush configuration appeal to you, but the P’s transparent dock and floor deodorizer do not justify the additional cost.
Choose ROMO P if the full package matters
The P is the most logical choice for buyers who value floor deodorizing, want the flagship design, or prefer the most complete listed package for a pet- or child-focused household. Its feature advantage does not make it universally better for homes that only need routine vacuuming and mopping.

Bottom line
DJI ROMO is a serious premium debut, but the lineup is easier to understand than its marketing may suggest. S, A, and P share the core navigation, suction, mopping, edge-cleaning, and dock architecture. The buying decision is mainly about price, transparent design, brush configuration, deodorizing, and regional support—not three fundamentally different robot platforms.
For most buyers, ROMO S is the value-oriented starting point, ROMO A is the design-and-features compromise, and ROMO P is the fully equipped option. The decisive check comes before checkout: make sure ROMO is officially supported in your market and that replacement parts, app access, firmware, and warranty service are available locally.
