The City of Mandurah officially opened the Dawesville Community Centre on Sunday, 31 August 2025. Located at the corner of Dandaragan Drive and Woodstock Avenue, the multi-purpose facility combines a communal hall, flexible office spaces, a kitchen and function area, and outdoor play and recreation spaces.
When did Dawesville Community Centre open?
The centre officially opened on Sunday, 31 August 2025. The City of Mandurah named Minister for Peel Jessica Stojkovski, Dawesville MLA Lisa Munday and Mandurah Mayor Caroline Knight among the opening officials. In a 11 September 2025 parliamentary statement, Stojkovski also named Mandurah MLA Rhys Williams as attending the ribbon cutting.
The opening celebration included children’s activities and sausage sizzles, according to the parliamentary record. The City’s opening announcement, published on 2 September 2025, also noted a foyer art exhibition by local and regional artists that ran until 19 September, plus children’s activities scheduled for 1–12 October during the 2025 City of Mandurah Arts Festival. Those were dated events, not ongoing programs.
Where is the centre, and what does it include?
The Dawesville Community Centre is on Woodstock Avenue, at the corner of Dandaragan Drive, in Mandurah’s southern suburbs. The City describes it as a multi-purpose community hub for local groups and a growing southern corridor.

The combination of indoor gathering and office spaces with outdoor recreation areas is intended to support different kinds of community use. The City managed the project and operates the facility.
What does Djilba-Wardarn Bo mean?
The centre also carries the Aboriginal name Djilba-Wardarn Bo, which the City translates as “the place where it is not far from the estuary to the ocean.” The City says the dual name recognizes the significance of Bindjareb people and reflects its reconciliation commitment.

Who funded the Dawesville Community Centre?
The State Government contributed $6.237 million toward construction, and Lotterywest provided a $2.65 million grant. The City of Mandurah managed the project and oversees operations. These are the reported funding contributions; the cited announcements do not state a separate total project cost.
How does the centre relate to growth in Mandurah’s south?
When the centre opened in August 2025, the WA Government forecast that the southern corridor’s population would double to around 15,000 by 2036. That figure was a forward-looking estimate published in 2025, not a current population count. The City also described the hub as a response to the area’s anticipated growth and need for community facilities.

Are opening hours, bookings or current programs published?
The available City project information describes intended uses and anticipated activities, but it does not establish today’s opening hours, hire rates, booking availability or confirmed ongoing programs. Check with the City of Mandurah for current facility and booking details rather than relying on planning-era descriptions.
