The planned link is a supply chain: rice husks recovered from Green CT’s processing plants will be supplied as biomass fuel to Erex’s Hậu Giang Biomass Power Plant. The new complex is the processing and fuel-aggregation project; Hậu Giang is the separate facility that generates electricity.

Việt Nam News reported that Erex Senior Executive Officer Tomoki Kakuta said the Hậu Giang plant consumes more than 100,000 tonnes of rice husks annually and supplies electricity to about 50,000 households. Those are figures attributed to Kakuta in the report, not independently verified measurements.
Why is the project relevant to the Mekong Delta?
Việt Nam News describes the Mekong Delta as Việt Nam’s largest rice-producing region, with about 3.6 million hectares and more than 24 million tonnes of paddy annually. The article gives no reference year or underlying statistical source for those regional figures.

The project’s stated rationale is to combine modern processing with the use of agricultural by-products. Green CT General Director Nguyễn Minh Tuấn said: “The modernisation of processing technology together with the optimisation of agricultural by-products is an inevitable requirement as the global economy shifts towards greener growth.” Cần Thơ City People’s Committee deputy chairman Lê Công Lý said “the development of integrated processing chains that make use of agricultural by-products is expected to help increase the value of rice and other agricultural products in the region.”
