It is free to enter and open worldwide, subject to applicable law, but entrants must be at least 18 when they register. Submit an original camera- or phone-made photo through the official web form in one of three categories; AI-generated images are not eligible.
Deadline and who can enter
The entry period runs from 6 October to 4 December 2026 at 11:59:59 pm GMT. Entries must reach the sponsor before the competition period ends; the official rules say the sponsor’s computer is the timekeeping device. GCCA announced the competition on 6 October 2026, and says winners are expected in Spring 2027. See the official competition page and read the current rules for the controlling details.
Entry is free and open worldwide, subject to applicable law. You must be at least 18 at registration. Certain GCCA, agency and supplier personnel, along with specified family or household members, are excluded under the rules; check the full terms if you may fall into one of those groups.
Choose the category that fits your photograph
The form asks you to select one category. Think about what the image makes central: the built environment, the role concrete plays in everyday life, or concrete’s visual qualities and design.

#1 Best Overall
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Urban and Infrastructure | Concrete in the built environment and infrastructure. |
| Concrete in Daily Life | Concrete as part of everyday settings, activities or human interactions. |
| Concrete Beauty and Design | Concrete’s visual appeal, design or distinctive forms. |
These are storytelling choices, not equipment or skill divisions. A strong entry should make its subject and point of view clear. Chris George, Content Director at Digital Camera World and a longstanding competition judge, said: “Concrete is all around us and has a beauty that might not always be obvious to some people. The Concrete in Life global photography competition continues to prove it is possible to take stunning shots of architecture and the manmade environment that show off the beauty of this universal building material.”
How to enter
- Make or select an original photograph. It must be your own original creation and taken with a camera or phone. AI-generated images are ineligible; a smartphone is sufficient, and the rules do not require a particular camera, lens or accessory.
- Open the GCCA entry form. Use the current competition website and follow its entry form rather than directions from earlier editions.
- Choose one category and complete the entry details. The form requests a photo title, description, city or region, country and category, as well as your contact details.
- Upload the image. The form accepts a high-resolution JPG, JPEG or PNG file up to 15 MB. Review the upload and form details before submitting.
- Agree to the release and rules, then submit before the deadline. The form requires agreement to the photo release and competition rules. Allow time before the GMT cutoff in case you need to correct a form or upload issue.
Photo rights, permissions and image use
By entering, you warrant that you are the photograph’s sole and exclusive owner and that it is your own original work. You are responsible for rights connected with the image. If an identifiable person appears, obtain and retain any necessary permissions and consents; the rules say GCCA may reject an image if consent evidence is lacking. The terms address privacy, publicity, intellectual-property, trademark and image rights, so consult them for your circumstances rather than assuming every person or building automatically needs a release.
Rank #2
Entry grants GCCA and its members or affiliates permission to use the image on competition, sponsor and affiliate websites and social channels, and in promotional material. The rules say notice can stop future use of personal data and images, but does not undo material already published, distributed, produced or shared. The entry also involves data collection and possible overseas transfer under GCCA’s privacy policy. Read the official rules and GCCA privacy policy before entering.
Prizes and judging
| Award | Prize |
|---|---|
| Overall winner | US$10,000 |
| Each of three category winners | US$2,500 |
| Public-vote winner | US$5,000 |
The amounts are those listed by GCCA for the 2026/27 competition. If one person wins more than one prize, they receive only the highest-value prize, not a cumulative total. Winners are responsible for applicable taxes and fees.
Rank #3
Judging is scheduled for January–March 2027. GCCA lists impact, creativity and style, composition, presentation, centre of interest, lighting, colour balance, technical excellence, photographic technique, and storytelling or subject matter as criteria. Judges weight and balance those considerations at their discretion; the rules do not publish fixed numerical weights.

GCCA says the competition has drawn more than a hundred thousand entrants over the years. The previous 2025/26 edition received more than 20,000 entries, according to its edition page; that figure is historical context, not an estimate for 2026/27.
