It is a stair-climbing robotic platform designed to carry a compatible Dreame robot vacuum between floors. At CES 2026, Dreame said the platform could handle individual steps up to approximately 25 cm (9.8 inches) high, using articulated tracks, 3D vision and braking safeguards.
That makes Cyber X one of the most striking attempts to solve a persistent problem in home robotics: most robot vacuums can clean only one floor at a time. But the CES demonstration showed a concept, not a widely available consumer product. Dreame had not confirmed a U.S. price, shipping date or retail listing by the available August 16, 2026 information cutoff.

What is Dreame Cyber X?
Cyber X is best understood as a robotic stair carrier or docking chassis. A compatible Dreame robot vacuum docks with the platform, Cyber X transports it up or down the stairs, and the vacuum is released on another level to clean using its ordinary navigation and floor-cleaning systems.
Dreame’s earlier technical description separates the system into three elements: the robot vacuum, the Bionic QuadTrack stair-climbing mechanism and a base station. The concept therefore differs from a single self-contained vacuum that drives directly up a staircase and cleans each step as it goes.

In the intended setup, the platform would:
- Receive and secure the robot vacuum.
- Scan and assess the staircase.
- Climb or descend to another level.
- Release the vacuum on the landing or floor.
- Retrieve or reposition it later, depending on the final software and docking workflow.
Dreame has not fully documented the consumer app controls, scheduling logic, docking alignment or recovery procedure. Those details matter because transporting a vacuum between floors is not the same as providing unattended, whole-home cleaning.
Dreame’s CES announcement describes Cyber X as a system for moving robot vacuums between floors.
How does Cyber X climb stairs?
The platform uses Dreame’s Bionic QuadTrack system: four articulated or folding track assemblies that provide traction and help the chassis transition from one stair tread to the next. Dreame describes the movement as similar to a small elevator, with the platform lifting and repositioning itself rather than simply driving upward on wheels.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe reported features include:
- Four articulated track assemblies: Designed to maintain contact as the chassis moves from tread to tread.
- Rubber treads: Dreame says they are intended for surfaces including hardwood, tile and carpet.
- 3D sensing: Independent 3D ToF Vision or Smart 3DAdapt Vision is claimed to evaluate stair height, depth and angle.
- Braking protection: Dreame claims three layers of braking protection to reduce the risk of rollback.
- Separate battery capacity: Earlier Dreame material cites 6,400mAh batteries for both the Cyber X system and the vacuum platform, although the final configuration and runtime require confirmation.
According to Dreame’s CES material, the maximum individual step height is about 25 cm (9.8 inches). A Japanese CES release cites support for slopes of up to 42 degrees. These are manufacturer-reported capabilities, not independent test results or guarantees for every residential staircase.
Cyber X specifications reported by Dreame
| Feature | Reported detail | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum riser height | Approximately 25 cm / 9.8 inches | Dreame claim; actual suitability also depends on tread depth and surface. |
| Maximum slope | Up to 42 degrees | Reported in Dreame’s Japanese CES material. |
| Climbing system | Bionic QuadTrack articulated tracks | Final production specifications were not established. |
| Vision | 3D ToF or 3DAdapt vision | Used, according to Dreame, to assess stair geometry. |
| Safety features | Three-layer braking protection and battery safeguards | Manufacturer claims, not independent certification results. |
| Earlier claimed speed | 0.2 m/s | From an earlier Dreame announcement and not clearly repeated in the CES U.S. release. |
| Earlier claimed range | Up to five floors per session | An earlier company claim; not an independently verified real-home result. |
Step height and stair angle are only two parts of the compatibility question. The platform must also fit the available tread depth, staircase width and landing space. Dreame says the system can adapt to different stair widths and geometries, but the CES announcements do not publish complete limits for every staircase design.
Does Cyber X clean the stairs?
That has not been clearly established. The available CES descriptions focus on Cyber X transporting a robot vacuum between floors. They do not clearly document the platform vacuuming every horizontal stair tread, riser, nosing or stair edge.

This distinction is important. A carrier that crosses a staircase could let one robot clean several floors, but it may leave the staircase itself for a person or a separate handheld vacuum. Unless Dreame provides a specific stair-cleaning demonstration or technical explanation, Cyber X should not be described as a robot that automatically cleans the entire staircase.
It also remains unclear whether the platform can independently wait on a landing, return at a scheduled time, refill and drain the vacuum’s water system, or recover from a failed docking attempt. Dreame has mentioned a water tank intended to support mopping on multiple floors, but the complete water-management workflow has not been published.
Which stairs could be difficult?
A straight, conventional staircase with sufficiently wide treads and clear landings is the most obvious use case. Real homes can be considerably more complicated. Prospective users would need specific compatibility information for:
- Very narrow stairs or staircases constrained by walls and railings.
- Winder, curved, L-shaped or spiral stairs.
- Open-riser stairs, where there is no continuous vertical face between treads.
- Unusually tall risers or shallow treads.
- Rounded stair nosings and slippery polished surfaces.
- Thick carpet, loose runners or surfaces that could reduce track grip.
- Small landings that do not leave enough room to turn or align with the next floor.
- Doors, trim, furniture or other obstructions at the top or bottom.
- Objects, pets or children moving around the staircase.
Dreame’s claims about adapting to varied stair geometries should not be treated as proof that every residential staircase is supported. Before buying, a customer would need published minimum width, tread depth, landing and clearance requirements.
What safety questions remain?
Stair climbing creates a more serious failure mode than a conventional robot vacuum getting stuck under furniture. If a carrier loses traction or stops halfway up a flight, the owner may have to recover a heavy, expensive machine from the stairs.
Dreame says Cyber X uses real-time stair scanning, 3D sensing, rubber-track traction, triple braking protection and battery safeguards intended to prevent uncontrolled movement when power is low. Those features are encouraging in principle, but they are still company claims. The available material does not establish independent stair-fall testing, U.S. safety certification, warranty coverage for damaged flooring or liability provisions for property damage.

Floor protection is another unanswered issue. Rubber tracks may improve grip, but buyers would want to know whether prolonged use can mark hardwood, painted stairs, delicate finishes or carpet. Noise, track wear, sensor cleaning and service intervals are also likely to be more significant than with an ordinary wheeled robot.
Is Dreame Cyber X available to buy?
Not broadly in the United States based on the available evidence. Dreame showed Cyber X at CES 2026 as a concept showcase. The event ran January 6–9, 2026, and Dreame’s CES announcements did not provide a U.S. launch date or retail price for the platform.
Dreame later included Cyber X in a May 2026 product presentation and described it as an officially introduced stair-climbing robot. That suggests the project progressed beyond its earliest demonstration, but it does not by itself confirm U.S. consumer availability. The reviewed Dreame U.S. store listed conventional models such as the X60 Ultra, X60 Max Ultra Complete and X50 Ultra, but no Cyber X product page or checkout listing. A German support-forum response also said Cyber X was not officially on the market there as of May 26, 2026; that is regional information, not proof of global availability.
There was no confirmed U.S. Cyber X price, shipping date, warranty policy or official compatibility list in the supplied evidence. Buyers should not assume that a current Dreame robot will dock with the platform.
What would buyers need to confirm?
A production version would need to answer these questions before it could be evaluated as a practical home appliance:
- Which Dreame vacuum models are officially compatible?
- What are the supported riser height, tread depth, width, slope and landing dimensions?
- Does it clean stair treads, or only transport the vacuum?
- What happens if it encounters an object, loses traction or runs low on battery?
- Can the owner manually recover the vacuum safely?
- How are mapping, floor selection and scheduled returns controlled?
- Does the base station refill and drain the robot on every level?
- How loud is the track mechanism?
- What maintenance do the tracks, sensors and brakes require?
- Could the tracks damage particular flooring or carpet?
- What safety certification and warranty coverage apply in the buyer’s country?
- Is one Cyber X cheaper and more reliable than using a separate robot on each floor?
What can multistory homeowners do now?
For most households, the practical choices remain simpler:

- One robot vacuum per floor: More expensive initially, but each level has its own robot and charging dock. There is no stair-transport failure.
- Manual floor transfers: The lowest-cost option for owners who already have a robot, although carrying it can complicate charging, mapping and docking.
- A cordless stick vacuum for stairs: The most direct option for cleaning treads, risers, corners and rail edges. It requires manual work but handles surfaces a carrier may not clean.
- One robot plus manual stair cleaning: A reasonable compromise when the main floors are easy to automate and the stairs are the only difficult area.
Current Dreame models illustrate the distinction between obstacle handling and true stair climbing. The X50 Ultra uses ProLeap retractable legs to handle obstacles up to approximately 6 cm, but that is not equivalent to climbing a full flight. The X60 Ultra is a premium floor-cleaning robot with features such as a slim body, high stated suction and a self-cleaning dock, but purchasing it does not guarantee Cyber X compatibility. The X60 Max Ultra Complete was the flagship robot associated with Dreame’s CES announcement, yet it also cannot independently climb a full staircase.
Prices for current models are volatile snapshots rather than Cyber X pricing. The reviewed Dreame pages showed an indexed price of $1,499.99 for the X60 Ultra and a sale price of $1,009.99 for the X50 Ultra, while the X60 Max Ultra Complete had a reported January 2026 preorder price of $1,359.99 against a $1,699.99 launch signal. Those products should not be presented as substitutes for, or confirmed accessories to, Cyber X.
Verdict: an important concept, not yet a straightforward stair-cleaning solution
Cyber X is significant because it attacks one of the largest structural limitations of domestic robot vacuums: their inability to move between floors. Dreame’s articulated Bionic QuadTrack platform, 3D sensing and claimed 25-cm riser capacity make the concept far more ambitious than a robot that merely crosses a small threshold.
But the accurate description is a stair-climbing carrier for a compatible robot vacuum, not necessarily an all-in-one robot that cleans the staircase. Its real value will depend on final compatibility, stair-geometry limits, landing requirements, safety testing, floor protection, recovery behavior, price and regional support.
Until those details—and a confirmed local retail listing—are available, homeowners who need a solution now will generally have a clearer path with one robot per floor, manual transfers or a cordless vacuum for the stairs themselves.
