Cemex Spain says it supplied cement for concrete used to build Paseo del Mar, a leisure and restaurant complex in the port of Torrevieja, Alicante. The cement reached the project through concrete supplier Hormigones y Morteros del Sol. Cemex reports that the complex opened in June 2026.
What Cemex says it supplied
Cemex reports that it mainly supplied two cement types for the concrete used at Paseo del Mar: CEM II/B-M (S-LL) 42,5 R and III/A 42,5 N/SRC. The announcement describes these as meeting mechanical-performance needs and contributing to improved concrete workability. It does not publish comparative test results or say that one type performed better than the other.

The route matters: Cemex describes a cement supply to Hormigones y Morteros del Sol, which supplied the concrete used in the project. The announcement does not say the project used bagged cement or identify a particular ready-mix recipe.
Why the port setting shaped the construction
Cemex characterizes the site as geotechnically complex because it is in a port and maritime environment. The company says the project used 511 deep piles to support structural stability. That figure and explanation come from Cemex’s account; the announcement is not an independent construction audit.

Scale and features of Paseo del Mar
According to Cemex, the complex covers more than 10,000 m² and contains 27 commercial premises across six two-storey buildings. The project also includes underground parking for more than 600 vehicles, public viewpoints, an elevated walkway and pedestrian ramps. Cemex says the complex was inaugurated in June 2026.
What is established about the cement’s environmental documentation
Cemex says the supplied cement has carbon footprints declared in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) verified by a third party under EN 15804. That describes the documentation Cemex reports; the underlying EPDs are not reproduced in the announcement, so the project-specific emissions of the cement cannot be confirmed from it.

The announcement also cites 822 kg CO2 per tonne of cement as a Global Cement & Concrete Association reference baseline for direct emissions from CEM I. It is not a measured emissions figure for the cement supplied to Paseo del Mar and should not be read as the project’s carbon footprint.
