Anker’s SOLIX E10 can provide automatic whole-home backup when installed with the company’s Power Dock and connected correctly to a 120/240-volt residential panel. That means your home’s circuits can remain energized during an outage. It does not mean a single 6.144-kWh battery can run every appliance indefinitely or start every high-demand load at once.
What “power your entire house” really means
There are four separate questions behind the phrase “whole-home backup”:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Whole-panel backup: The battery system can keep the home’s circuits energized when the utility fails.
- Whole-home capability: The inverter can supply the home’s 120/240-volt electrical service within its output limits.
- Whole-home runtime: The stored battery energy lasts long enough for the outage.
- Peak-load capability: Several appliances—and their starting surges—can operate simultaneously.
The E10 can address the first two when installed with the appropriate equipment. Runtime and simultaneous load depend on the battery count, household demand, motor-starting surges, weather, and whether solar or a generator is available.

| Configuration | Approximate capacity | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| E10 plus one battery | 6.144 kWh | Base storage configuration; the backup arrangement depends on the installed accessory. |
| E10 plus two batteries | 12.288 kWh | More practical for overnight outages and larger managed loads. |
| E10 plus Power Dock | Depends on battery count | Automatic whole-home backup configuration. |
| E10 plus Smart Inlet Box or transfer switch | Depends on battery count | Manual or more limited backup arrangement; not equivalent to automatic Power Dock backup. |
| Two E10 systems plus four batteries and Power Dock | 24.576 kWh | Higher-capacity arrangement for substantially larger loads. |
| Expanded system | Up to 90 kWh advertised | Requires additional supported battery modules and professional planning. |
An E10 sold with a Smart Inlet Box should not be described as providing the same experience as an E10 with a Power Dock. The accessory is part of the system’s capability, not an afterthought.
Output: how much can it run at once?
An E10 power module is published at approximately 7,680 watts of continuous output. With two or more battery modules, Anker advertises up to 10,000 watts of turbo output for as long as 90 minutes. The 10-kW figure is a limited-duration rating—not the amount the system should be assumed to deliver continuously throughout an outage.
The whole-home configurations are designed for 120/240-volt split-phase operation. Anker also markets coverage for up to a 200-amp whole-home panel. That refers to the panel or service coverage, not 200 amps of battery output. The electrician must verify the service panel, conductors, breakers, load calculation, and local code requirements.

- Refrigerators and freezers
- Lights, Wi-Fi equipment, computers, and televisions
- A gas-furnace blower
- A microwave or dishwasher
- A washing machine
- Small pumps
- Some well pumps
- Gas or hybrid HVAC systems
- Selected window or mini-split air conditioners
Other loads need an equipment-specific review:
- Central air conditioners and heat pumps
- Electric furnaces and resistance heaters
- Electric water heaters
- Induction ranges and electric dryers
- Well, sump, and pool pumps
- Workshop tools
- EV chargers
- Several compressors or motors starting simultaneously
The critical distinction is between running watts and starting watts. A refrigerator, pump, or air conditioner may draw substantially more power for a moment while its motor starts. A load that appears compatible from its operating label can still trip the inverter when it starts alongside other equipment.
Can it run central air conditioning?
Possibly, but there is no universal yes. The answer depends on the air conditioner’s voltage, running current, compressor starting demand, blower load, and whatever else is operating at the same time.
Recommended Free Tools
A licensed electrician or HVAC professional should review the equipment nameplate and perform a load calculation. A compatible soft-start device may reduce compressor-start demand in some installations, but it does not make every central HVAC system suitable for every E10 configuration. Homes with electric heat, heat pumps, or multiple large systems may need additional E10 batteries, a larger system design, or a generator.
How long will a 6.144-kWh E10 battery last?
A simple estimate is:
Runtime ≈ usable battery capacity ÷ average load
For a nominal 6.144-kWh battery, the idealized figures below show why inverter power and battery capacity are different things:

- [Reliable UPS] - Never lose data or stop your devices during winter storms/blackouts! 10ms ultra-fast UPS switch protects CPAP, laptops, routers—critical for home emergencies when power cuts suddenly.
| Average load | Idealized runtime before conversion losses |
|---|---|
| 300 W | About 20.5 hours |
| 500 W | About 12.3 hours |
| 1,000 W | About 6.1 hours |
| 2,000 W | About 3.1 hours |
| 5,000 W | About 1.2 hours |
A 12.288-kWh configuration roughly doubles those figures. Actual runtime will be lower because of inverter losses, reserve settings, temperature, battery age, and the intermittent nature of household appliances. A refrigerator cycles rather than drawing its rated wattage continuously; an electric heater may draw several kilowatts continuously.
The most important point is that capacity determines duration. A 6-kWh battery may supply a high load through its inverter, but it will deplete quickly. If the system is allowed to power electric heating, water heating, cooking, laundry, HVAC, and vehicle charging together, even a larger battery bank can be exhausted rapidly.
Automatic transfer, installation, and safety
The Power Dock is the accessory associated with automatic whole-home backup and Anker’s advertised transfer time of up to 20 milliseconds. Smart Inlet Box and transfer-switch packages provide different, generally more manual arrangements. The battery cannot simply be plugged into a wall outlet to energize the house.
Improvised connections can backfeed utility lines and create a lethal hazard. Whole-home installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical rules, utility requirements, permits, and inspections.
Planning may involve:
- Service-panel compatibility and a formal load calculation
- Disconnects, overcurrent protection, grounding, and bonding
- Wall or floor mounting, clearances, ventilation, and temperature limits
- Conduit and wiring
- Solar and generator integration
- Utility interconnection requirements
- Permit and inspection requirements
Anker’s pre-installation information references a 125-amp breaker for the Power Dock, but the exact design depends on the home and installation. Anker lists the equipment with NEMA 4/IP66-related protection and offers wall- and floor-mounting options; that does not mean every battery can be placed anywhere outdoors. Flooding, direct exposure, temperature, clearances, and the current installation manual still matter.

Can solar or a generator make backup last indefinitely?
Not by themselves, and not under every condition.
- Battery only: Runtime ends when the stored energy is depleted.
- Battery plus solar: Solar can extend runtime during daylight if production exceeds household consumption. Clouds, smoke, snow, shading, winter conditions, and storm-related outages can sharply reduce production.
- Battery plus generator: A compatible generator can support loads or recharge the system during a prolonged outage, but fuel, noise, maintenance, controls, and generator compatibility must be addressed.
“Indefinite backup” should mean only that operation may continue when incoming energy exceeds household consumption. It does not mean the battery contains unlimited energy.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.E10 versus a conventional generator
| E10 advantage | Generator advantage |
|---|---|
| Quiet operation | Generally stronger long-duration performance with available fuel |
| No routine fuel storage for battery-only operation | Can keep producing energy while refueled |
| Automatic transfer with the Power Dock | Well suited to sustained high loads |
| Solar compatibility and expandable storage | Less dependent on weather for recharging |
| No exhaust at the point of use | Often more practical for multi-day outages |
The E10 is attractive when quiet automatic backup, solar integration, and clean operation matter. A fuel generator may be the better fit for multi-day outages, electric heating, large HVAC systems, or homes where fuel storage is practical.
E10 versus EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra
EcoFlow’s DELTA Pro Ultra is a modular alternative rather than a direct apples-to-apples comparison. EcoFlow advertises approximately 7.2–21.6 kW of output and 6–90 kWh of capacity, depending on the number of inverters and batteries. Its Smart Home Panel is needed for a comparable automatic home-integration setup. Compare the complete system—including panel hardware and installation—not just the headline battery price. See EcoFlow’s product page.

How much does the E10 cost?
Anker’s U.S. whole-home collection showed prices from approximately $4,299 for an E10 package to approximately $7,799 for an automatic-backup package with two batteries and a Power Dock. These prices were observed on August 18, 2026; promotions and availability can change. Larger configurations rise above $10,000. See Anker’s current bundle listings.
The equipment price is not the installed price. Budget separately for electrical labor, permits, panel modifications, mounting, conduit, wiring, solar work, generator integration, inspection, and utility coordination. Installation cost varies substantially by location and home.
Which E10 configuration makes sense?
- Short outages and essential loads: A base E10 may work if you actively manage loads and do not expect to run electric heat, water heating, or major appliances continuously.
- Automatic whole-home backup: Choose the Power Dock and have the panel, 120/240-volt loads, and transfer design evaluated by an electrician.
- Overnight outages: Consider at least two battery modules if refrigeration, communications, pumps, and selected HVAC loads must remain available.
- Central HVAC or electric-heavy homes: Review compressor starting demand and continuous loads before choosing the battery count. A soft-start device or larger configuration may be necessary.
- Multi-day outages: Plan for solar, a compatible generator, or both. Battery capacity alone may not be economical for sustained high demand.
Bottom line
The Anker SOLIX E10 is a credible whole-home backup platform, but “whole home” describes the electrical connection—not unlimited energy. With a Power Dock, it can automatically energize a 120/240-volt home panel. Its approximately 7.6-kW continuous output can handle many ordinary household loads, while the base 6.144-kWh battery may last only a few hours under heavy demand.
Before buying, inventory continuous and startup loads, decide which appliances must operate, choose the battery count accordingly, and obtain a professional installation assessment. The E10 is strongest for homeowners who value quiet automatic backup and solar compatibility; a conventional generator may remain the more practical choice for long outages and sustained high electrical loads.
