Before you submit a RYOBI warranty claim
Find the model and serial number
Locate the data label on the tool. RYOBI says the model number is usually at the top left and the serial number at the bottom right; model numbers often begin with a letter such as P or RY. Use the model number to find the product’s support information and matching warranty. See RYOBI’s contact page for help locating these details.
Check the warranty for that product
RYOBI publishes separate warranty information for product categories including power tools, outdoor power equipment, batteries and chargers, generators, storage, hand tools, and other products. Select the warranty that matches your exact product, then check its requirements and coverage period against your purchase date. The RYOBI warranty index is the starting point; no single warranty length applies to every RYOBI product.
Terms can differ substantially across product lines. For example, an official power-tool warranty document describes a three-year limited warranty and a 90-day exchange policy for the products covered by that document, while an official hand-tool document describes a limited lifetime warranty for the hand tools it defines. Gather the tool and purchase proof
RYOBI’s service-center guidance says coverage validation requires proof of purchase, the product, and defective parts that fall within the warranty period. Have the model and serial numbers ready as well. A service center may require a refundable deposit; if the product is outside its warranty period, you are responsible for service costs.
Choose a repair route
RYOBI offers two routes: online Rapid Repair for eligible products, or in-person service through an authorized service center. Warranty work must be performed by an authorized service center, and not every location repairs every product.

How to request Rapid Repair
- Open RYOBI’s Service and Repair page and confirm that the product is eligible for Rapid Repair. The page lists exclusions, including some saws, compressors, mowers, generators, pressure washers, and gas handheld tools; check the live list because eligible categories can change.
- Register the product and complete the online claim form through the Rapid Repair process. Have the model, serial number, and purchase information available.
- Print the free FedEx label, package the product as directed, and drop it off. RYOBI says the process includes repair progress updates and delivery of the repaired product.
RYOBI’s Rapid Repair portal advertises a 14-business-day turnaround for eligible tools and batteries. Treat that as an eligibility-qualified service estimate, not a promise that every claim or repair will be completed within that period. See the Rapid Repair portal for current instructions.
How to arrange in-person service
- Find an authorized service center using RYOBI’s service-center locator.
- Call before visiting. RYOBI warns that locations do not all service every product, so confirm that the center can handle your tool.
- Bring the product, proof of purchase, and defective parts covered by the warranty period. Ask the center about any deposit and the next steps for evaluating the claim.
Does a tool have to be registered to make a claim?
Registration can help you keep product, receipt, warranty, and support information together. RYOBI says it helps customer service identify a product, supports product notifications, and lets owners store receipts that may expedite a claim. Its account and registration pages do not establish registration as a universal prerequisite for warranty rights, so follow the instructions in the warranty and claim process for your product. What if you are unsure which route applies?
Contact RYOBI with the model and serial numbers, purchase date, and a description of the problem ready. The U.S. contact page lists 1-800-525-2579, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Eastern Time, and offers a contact form with model and serial number fields. These service details apply to the U.S. pages cited here; customers elsewhere should use the service process for their country.

The applicable warranty document controls. Do not assume that every failure qualifies for free repair, replacement, or a specific turnaround before RYOBI or an authorized service center reviews the claim. Warranty exclusions are product-specific: for example, the hand-tool warranty document cited above excludes certain damage involving removed identifying marks, modifications or improper repairs, improper use or maintenance, unapproved accessories, abuse, normal wear and tear, acts of God, and freight damage. That list describes the cited hand-tool document, not every RYOBI warranty. Avoid opening or modifying the tool before checking its warranty terms.
