Bouygues Construction opened Scale One, a 2,500 m² facility for testing construction materials, equipment, methods and technologies, in Chilly-Mazarin near Paris on 6 October 2026. The site is designed to recreate worksite conditions so teams can develop and assess solutions before using them on live projects.
What is Scale One?
Scale One is a physical construction innovation and testing facility at Bouygues Construction Matériel’s technical centre in Chilly-Mazarin, south of Paris. Bouygues describes it as a “full-scale innovation platform”: rather than limiting experimentation to office or laboratory work, it is intended to let teams test ideas in settings that resemble construction sites.

The company says the aim is to connect research and construction sites by allowing materials, equipment, construction methods and technologies to be tested, refined and approved before deployment. That is the facility’s stated purpose, not evidence that a particular solution has already improved project outcomes.

Where is it, and when did it open?
Scale One is in Chilly-Mazarin, around 30 minutes from Paris, at the Bouygues Construction Matériel technical centre. Bouygues Construction gives its area as 2,500 m² and its opening date as 6 October 2026. The company also says the project was selected in 2023 under France 2030’s “Grands Lieux d’Innovation Filières” call for projects; its opening announcement does not state a funding amount.

How does it recreate construction-site conditions?
