Blink’s Battery Doorbell 2K+ is a meaningful upgrade for anyone who wants to see both a visitor and the package at their feet. It records at up to 1920 × 1920 pixels, uses a square head-to-toe image and offers a 140° horizontal × 140° vertical field of view. The catch is that the sharpest setting shortens the battery estimate, the battery model requires a Sync Module, and cloud recording plus advanced detection can add a recurring subscription cost.
That makes it a better camera, but not automatically a better-value doorbell for every home.

What Blink has launched
Blink announced two 2K+ video doorbells on May 6, 2026:
- Battery Doorbell 2K+: can be installed wire-free or connected to existing doorbell wiring. It uses three AA lithium batteries and requires a Sync Module.
- Wired Doorbell 2K+: is wired-only and does not require a Sync Module.
Both use a square 2K image, but they are separate products with different power and chime requirements. They should not be confused with Blink’s older Video Doorbell (2nd Gen), which has different specifications and lower maximum resolution. See Blink’s launch announcement and second-generation specifications.

What “better views” actually means
The improvement is not simply a wider lens. Blink’s Battery Doorbell 2K+ provides:
- Up to 1920 × 1920 pixels, which Blink describes as 2K
- A 1:1 square aspect ratio for more useful vertical coverage
- A 140° horizontal × 140° vertical field of view
- Improved visibility in bright and difficult lighting, according to Blink
The square composition is the important practical change. A conventional doorbell view can show a visitor’s face while cutting off the ground immediately below them. The 2K+ is designed to show more of the person and the area where packages are left in the same frame.
That does not mean it has the widest horizontal view in the entire doorbell market. Blink lists the older Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) at 150°, so the newer product should not be described as wider in every direction. Its advantage is the combination of greater detail and more useful head-to-toe framing. Lighting, distance, motion blur, compression and camera placement will still determine whether a face or package can actually be identified.

| Model | Resolution | Field of view | Power | Sync Module |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Battery Doorbell 2K+ | 1920 × 1920 | 140° H × 140° V | Three AA lithium batteries; optional wiring | Required |
| Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) | Up to 1440p | 150° listed by Blink | Three AA lithium batteries; optional wiring | Required |
| Video Doorbell (1st Gen) | 1080p | 135° | Two AA lithium batteries; optional wiring | Not required |
| Wired Doorbell 2K+ | 1920 × 1920 | 140° H × 140° V | Wired only | Not required |
For a first-generation owner, the resolution and framing upgrade should be obvious. For a second-generation owner, the decision is more nuanced: the 2K+ may show a more useful portion of a porch, even though the older model’s published angle is numerically larger.
The main catch: maximum quality uses more battery
Blink’s estimates for three Energizer AA lithium batteries vary according to video-quality setting:
| Setting | Resolution | Claimed battery life |
|---|---|---|
| Best | 1920 × 1920 | Up to 16 months |
| Standard | 1440 × 1440 | Up to 19 months |
| Saver | 960 × 960 | Up to 22 months |
The headline 2K mode therefore has the shortest official estimate. These are “up to” figures, not guarantees. Frequent motion, long clips, live viewing, cold weather, infrared night vision and a busy porch can all reduce runtime. Buyers must choose between maximum detail and longer intervals between battery changes.
Blink’s older two-year battery claims should not be transferred to this model without qualification. The 2K+ support page gives mode-specific estimates instead.

The battery model needs a hub
The Battery Doorbell 2K+ requires a Blink Sync Module. That matters most to first-time Blink buyers: the advertised doorbell price is not necessarily the complete system price unless the chosen bundle includes the module. Existing Blink households may already have compatible hardware, making the upgrade more economical.
The battery model can be installed wire-free with three 1.5-volt Energizer AA lithium non-rechargeable batteries, or connected to existing wiring with battery backup. Blink lists supported wiring as 12–24V AC in the U.S. and 8–24V AC in the EU and UK. It uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi; Blink recommends at least 2Mbps upload speed and lists a range of up to 65 feet through one interior and one exterior brick wall, although building materials and network conditions can change the result. Check the official compatibility and installation guidance before fitting it.
Chime compatibility is easy to miss
The Battery Doorbell 2K+ can ring a compatible existing mechanical indoor chime when it is wired correctly. If it is not wired to the home chime, indoor alerts require a Blink Mini, Blink Chime or compatible Alexa device.
The Wired Doorbell 2K+ is different: Blink says it does not support an existing in-home mechanical chime. It requires a separate Blink or Alexa-compatible notification device. That makes the wired model cheaper and simpler for power, but not necessarily simpler for a traditional doorbell replacement.

A paid plan is not required for basic operation. Blink says motion notifications and Live View remain available without one. The limitation is that many functions buyers expect from a modern security camera are plan-dependent, including cloud recording, extended video history, person and vehicle detection, photo capture and AI-generated video descriptions.
Blink’s U.S. paid plans currently list cloud storage for up to 60 days. Prices seen on August 18, 2026, were:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $3.99 | $39.99 |
| Plus | $11.99 | $119.99 |
| Basic AI | $6.99 | $69.99 |
| Plus AI | $19.99 | $199.99 |
Some plans may show promotional first-year prices, so check the current Blink plans page for the renewal price before subscribing. AI features and Video Descriptions are also subject to country, plan, account and eligibility restrictions; Blink lists Video Descriptions as U.S.-only in its current documentation and notes regional limits including Illinois for some AI plans.
Rank #3
- Video Doorbell is our second-generation smart security doorbell with up to two years of battery life, an expanded field of view, and improved security features for more peace of mind, no matter where you are.
- Last longer with two-year battery life — Experience up to two years of continuous security coverage with three AA Energizer lithium batteries and a Blink Sync Module (both included).
- See more at your door — Greet guests and watch packages get delivered, day and night, with head-to-toe HD view and infrared night vision. Use two-way talk to hear and speak through the Blink app.
- Set up in minutes — Easily install wire-free or connect Video Doorbell to existing doorbell wiring. When wired, Video Doorbell will sound through your home. Without wiring, you can use your Blink Mini 2 camera (sold separately) as an indoor plug-in chime. You'll also get alerts on your Blink app with each doorbell press.
- Always know who's there — As part of a Blink Subscription Plan (sold separately), get alerts whenever a person is detected and enjoy features like Blink Moments, which stitches together clips into a single video to save and share.
What trial do you get?
Blink says the Battery Doorbell 2K+ includes a no-cost Blink Plus trial covering features such as cloud storage, person and vehicle detection, photo capture, longer video history and Video Descriptions in the U.S. Existing Plus subscribers may receive automatic coverage instead of a new trial.
Separately, Blink documents a possible seven-day Plus AI trial for eligible newly set-up cameras or doorbells. Trial length and eligibility can depend on the account, product and region, so buyers should check the offer shown during setup rather than assume every purchase receives the same trial.
Battery 2K+ or Wired 2K+?
| Choose the Battery 2K+ if… | Choose the Wired 2K+ if… |
|---|---|
| You rent or need wire-free installation. | You have compatible 12–24V AC wiring. |
| You want flexibility to add battery backup. | You prefer continuous wired power. |
| You already own a Sync Module. | You do not want to buy a Sync Module. |
| Your porch benefits from square, vertical coverage. | You accept using a separate Blink or Alexa indoor alert device. |
Amazon’s U.S. launch announcement listed the Wired Doorbell 2K+ at $49.99, while Blink’s product page listed the Battery Doorbell 2K+ from $79.99 as of August 18, 2026. Prices, bundles and availability vary, so treat those as prices seen at that time rather than permanent pricing. Confirm whether a Battery Doorbell package includes the Sync Module.
Who should buy the Battery Doorbell 2K+?
It is a strong fit for renters, homes with low or awkward doorways, households that regularly receive packages and existing Blink users who already own the required hub. The upgrade is most useful when the camera needs to show a visitor’s face and the ground immediately below them.
It is less compelling when an older Blink doorbell already covers a wide, open porch, when you rarely save recordings, or when maximum battery life matters more than maximum resolution. It is also a poor fit if you require free automatic cloud recording, rechargeable power, a built-in indoor chime or advanced detection without recurring fees.

Bottom line
The Battery Doorbell 2K+ improves Blink’s doorbell where it matters most: detail and vertical porch coverage. But “better views” comes with a less simple ownership equation. The sharpest mode has a claimed battery life of up to 16 months, the battery version needs a Sync Module, and useful recording and AI features can turn a low device price into an ongoing service cost.
Buy it if wire-free installation and a better head-to-toe view solve a real problem. Choose the wired model if you have suitable wiring and want to avoid the hub. If subscription-free recording is your priority, compare local-storage doorbells before committing to Blink.
