Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary directed officials on 11 October 2026 to complete the Patna Metro project by 2028 during an inspection of construction along Nehru Path. The direction sets a target, not confirmation that the full project is on a newly approved schedule or will be finished by that date.
What the Chief Minister directed
During the inspection, Choudhary reviewed construction at the Income Tax roundabout, High Court crossing and near Hanuman Temple. He called for coordinated work, regular progress monitoring and construction that meets quality and safety requirements, while limiting disruption to residents and keeping traffic and pedestrian movement smooth.

Traffic management around construction sites, smooth pedestrian and vehicular movement, and public safety must be given top priority.”
The reports did not provide measurable disruption targets, traffic counts, construction staging plans or safety incident figures. The direction therefore establishes priorities, but not specific performance measures for assessing them.

Where the Nehru Path foot overbridges are planned
Choudhary directed that two foot overbridges be built to facilitate pedestrian movement:
- Near JD Women’s College.
- On the High Court crossing–Bihar Museum stretch.
The reports give no construction start dates or expected opening dates for either structure.

How the 2028 target compares with published schedule references
Two earlier schedule references use different terms and should not be treated as interchangeable with the Chief Minister’s deadline direction.

The available reports do not explain whether the MoSPI completion date and JICA opening year cover the same scope, whether the dashboard has since been updated, or whether the 2028 direction changes an approved schedule. The 2028 target is therefore not established as the latest official schedule.
