In October 2024, Big C Lumber’s Dowagiac Structural Building Components facility changed the paint on its truss and wall-panel packages from the company’s usual red to pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The company also said pink-painted trusses were being delivered to job sites.
What Big C Lumber did
Big C Lumber’s November 2024 company newsletter says packages from its Dowagiac Structural Building Components facility are typically marked with the company name in red spray paint. During October 2024, the facility used pink instead on truss and wall-panel packages in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Big C Lumber, The Big Scene, November 2024
A Big C Lumber social post also described the trusses as turning pink and asked people to watch for trucks delivering the pink spray-painted loads to job sites. Big C Lumber social post surfaced via Jason Parmer’s LinkedIn profile
What the available information does not establish
The company materials do not state how many packages were painted, the exact dates or duration of the activity, or whether it was repeated in another year. They also do not report a donation, fundraising total, or beneficiary organization, so the pink paint should not be taken as evidence of a separate fundraising effort.
