The Bailey bridge at Betrawati was reported open to vehicles on October 11, 2026, restoring direct road connectivity between Nepal’s Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts. It crosses the Phalakhukhola River, also spelled Falakhu Khola, where floods washed away the permanent bridge on August 26. The separate Bailey bridge planned at Syabrubesi was still under construction in reports from October 8–10; it had not been reported open.
Betrawati bridge status: reported open to vehicles
Meroauto reported that vehicles began using the Betrawati Bailey bridge on the morning of October 11, 2026. The report says the Nepali Army supported installation and that the crossing restored direct road connectivity between Nuwakot and Rasuwa. This is a reported opening, not confirmation from an official traffic notice or an engineering completion certificate.

The permanent bridge over the Phalakhukhola River—also rendered Falakhu or Falakhu Khola in reports—was washed away by floods on August 26, according to Meroauto. Temporary pedestrian crossings described in September were an interim response; they do not describe the current vehicle status.

How the Betrawati work reached opening
- September 14: Reports described temporary pedestrian alternatives after flood damage, including a bamboo-and-wood footbridge at Betrawati.
- October 9: Ratopati reported the 74-meter Betrawati bridge was nearing completion, with decking still needed.
- October 10: Task-force coordinator Dharmendra Jha said the bridge was at its final stage and expected to open the next day.
- October 11: Meroauto reported that vehicles began crossing.
Jha, a former Lieutenant General of the Nepali Army, said the team was working day and night and that the bridge would be operational the following day, according to the October 10 report. The next day’s reported opening provides the latest status available as of October 11.
Syabrubesi is a separate bridge project
The Syabrubesi Bailey bridge is not the Betrawati crossing and was not reported open alongside it. It is intended to help restore the northern route toward Rasuwagadhi. Khabarhub reported on October 8 that foundations for a planned 76-meter bridge were underway, along with access-road and excavation work. On October 10, Jha said construction had progressed but faced geographic and technical problems.

Access to the Syabrubesi site has also been difficult. In a September 14 interview, Infrastructure Minister Sunil Lamsal described marshland between the access point and the construction site, in places reported as deep as 20 meters. He said the team had reached the site and was working to restore the connection to Syaphrubesi. These remarks concern the separate Syabrubesi worksite, not Betrawati.

The October 11 report establishes that vehicles were using the Betrawati crossing that morning and that direct Nuwakot–Rasuwa connectivity had been restored, as reported by Meroauto. It does not provide a traffic count, measured journey-time reduction, or quantified household or economic impact. Nor does it establish the current condition of every road segment toward Syabrubesi or Rasuwagadhi. Because bridge and road conditions can change, this status should be read as of October 11, 2026, not as live travel guidance.
