However, the product page does not show a formal IP rating or independent waterproof test. Its sealed construction, smooth-surface mounting, and clean-removal claims should therefore be treated as manufacturer claims. It is a reasonable shower-only choice when the fit and mounting surface are confirmed—not the same as a certified immersion case.
Wall holders also create a separate risk: the enclosure can stay watertight while its adhesive mount releases. Install it away from the drain and direct shower stream, and test the mount before trusting it with an expensive phone.
Waterproof pouch or case
A pouch or rugged case is better for baths, pools, kayaking, boating, beaches, travel, and any situation where the phone could be dropped. A lanyard keeps a pouch nearby, while a floating model may give you time to recover it.

AquaPhone lists an IPX6 rating, touchscreen access, anti-fog use, a 1,200-mAh rechargeable battery, adhesive mounting, and a built-in Bluetooth speaker. Its product page displayed “Sold out” when checked, and the listed waterproof and anti-fog features are manufacturer claims.
If audio is your only goal, keeping the phone outside the shower and using a bathroom-suitable waterproof speaker is usually the simpler approach.

Before buying, verify the phone’s body dimensions—not just its screen diagonal. Check case thickness, camera-bump clearance, and whether a grip, wallet, or battery case must be removed. Do not mount it over grout, textured tile, painted drywall, wallpaper, or a porous surface unless the manufacturer specifically supports that material.
AquaPhone Case: consider only when available
AquaPhone is designed for shower mounting and lists 360-degree rotation, extension, adhesive installation on tile, glass, marble, and metal, support for phones up to 17 cm/6.8 inches, an anti-fog touchscreen, and an IPX6 rating. IPX6 is relevant to powerful water jets, making the rating more meaningful for direct shower spray than an immersion-only rating.
Its sold-out status makes it unsuitable as the main immediate recommendation. Charging electronics and the integrated speaker also create more components to protect and maintain.
Best waterproof pouches and cases
Pelican Marine Universal Waterproof Case: best documented protection
Pelican lists this rigid universal case at $60, with IP68 certification, compatibility with smartphones up to 6.9 inches, protection for up to 30 minutes at 1.5 meters, a built-in screen protector, camera window, protected charging-port cover, and optional wrist strap. It is the strongest choice in this group when formal manufacturer specifications matter more than wall mounting.

It is overkill for occasional shower spray if that is its only use. It becomes easier to justify for a phone used around rain, beaches, boats, and accidental drops. Pelican’s charging guidance indicates that protected charging access is intended for use once you are back on land; do not assume it is safe to charge while wet or in the shower.
Pelican Marine Floating Phone Pouch: best for a bath or accidental drop
The $24.99 Pelican pouch is listed as IPX8-rated, with air cushions intended to help it float, a clear touchscreen-accessible window, and a detachable lanyard. It is more appropriate beside a bath or pool than as a fixed shower-screen mount.
Floating helps with recovery but does not compensate for a damaged seal or an incorrectly closed latch. Test the empty pouch before use and inspect it after drops, creases, or other damage.

Aquapac Plus Plus / Large: best for larger phones
Aquapac lists physical limits of approximately 185 mm/7.5 inches in height and 110 mm/4.3 inches in width. The pouch is listed as IPX8-rated, waterproof to 10 meters/30 feet, floatable with its supplied pad, and supplied with an adjustable 50-cm/20-inch lanyard. It supports touchscreen use, calls, and audio through the pouch.
The listed price was £24.95, so shoppers should verify currency, shipping, and availability. Aquapac warns that fingerprint recognition will not work through the pouch and face recognition may also fail. Its stated dimensions are more useful than a generic “fits up to 7.5 inches” claim, particularly for phones with substantial bumper cases.
YOSH Waterproof Phone Pouch: budget option with strict testing
YOSH lists an IPX8 claim and compatibility with phones up to a stated 7.2 inches, but its own FAQ says users should generally remove the phone case and test the pouch with a dry tissue. Fingerprint unlocking is unsupported, water may collect around the clip, and the manufacturer warns that the pouch can stick to the screen if its interior is damp.
The product page displayed £5.99 and “Sold out” when checked. Treat it as a low-cost backup only if it is available, fits without forcing the seal, and passes the required test. Do not treat depth marketing as a guarantee against real-world damage.
IP ratings explained for shower use
IP ratings describe specific enclosure tests. They are not a blanket promise that a phone is safe anywhere around water. Garmin’s definitions summarize the water portions as follows:

In an IP code, the first character concerns solid particles. An “X” means that position has not been stated; it does not itself mean the product has poor water protection. See Garmin’s water-rating definitions.
Do not assume IPX8 covers shower jets. Jet and immersion tests are different, and IEC-derived guidance explains that an immersion-rated enclosure is not necessarily suitable for jets unless it has a combined rating such as IPX6/IPX7 or IPX6/IPX8. Also remember that the rating may apply only to the enclosure—not its adhesive pad, hinge, charging port, worn seal, or incorrectly closed latch.

How to judge a shower holder
Inspect the enclosure
- Look for a continuous gasket or sealed perimeter.
- Prefer a positive latch that cannot open accidentally.
- Check that the transparent cover stays clear and taut.
- Look for drainage or anti-condensation provisions.
- Avoid exposed charging ports unless their protection is clearly specified.
- Confirm there is enough internal depth for the phone and case.
Evaluate the mounting system separately
Adhesive, suction, and screw mounting each involve different compromises. Adhesive looks clean and avoids drilling but depends on surface preparation and humidity. Suction is removable but performs poorly on grout and textured tile. Screws provide the most dependable permanent attachment when installed correctly, but they may be unsuitable for rental bathrooms.
For adhesive mounting, use a smooth, dry, nonporous surface. Clean away soap residue and dust, let the surface dry fully, install without the phone, and follow the manufacturer’s curing time. If the holder is removed or repositioned, replace the adhesive pad rather than assuming it will regain its original strength.

- Can you use portrait and landscape orientation?
- Does the touchscreen respond with wet fingers?
- Will condensation fog the cover?
- Do side buttons, speakers, microphones, and face unlock work?
- Can you open the enclosure without dripping water onto the phone?
- Does a screen protector interfere with the membrane?
Steam is not the same as liquid water
A sealed enclosure can resist splashes and still become difficult to use in a hot bathroom. Temperature differences can create condensation inside or outside the cover, and droplets can collect around the latch or gasket. A product page’s “steam resistant” or “anti-fog” wording is a manufacturer claim unless a formal test method is provided.
Place the holder away from the hottest part of the shower, ventilate the room, and wipe the outside with a clean microfiber cloth. Avoid repeatedly opening the enclosure in humid conditions. If the interior becomes foggy, let it dry completely before storing or using it again.
Test the enclosure before putting your phone inside
A pre-use test should be non-negotiable for every pouch or enclosure, including a product that claims IPX7, IPX8, or “100% waterproof.”
- Remove the phone.
- Put a dry tissue or paper towel inside.
- Close and lock every latch or seal exactly as instructed.
- Expose the empty case to water according to the manufacturer’s guidance.
- Dry the outside before opening it.
- Inspect the tissue for any dampness.
- Repeat after a drop, crease, seal replacement, or visible damage.
- Insert the phone only after the empty-case test passes.
YOSH specifically recommends a tissue test and says both sides must be fully closed, with the clips clicking into place; its FAQ recommends a 30-minute test if there is doubt. A successful test proves only that the enclosure sealed at that moment. It cannot guarantee protection after later damage, incorrect closure, degraded adhesive, or opening the case while wet.

- Watching videos in the shower: Choose a wall-mounted enclosure such as MineralStream, provided the surface and phone fit are suitable.
- Listening to podcasts: Keep the phone outside the spray zone and use a waterproof speaker, or use a sealed holder if visual control is important.
- Taking baths: Choose a floating pouch, such as the Pelican Marine Floating Phone Pouch.
- Swimming, kayaking, or boating: Choose an IPX8 pouch or a rugged case with specified immersion conditions.

Common mistakes and failure recovery
Assuming IPX8 means shower-jet protection
Check whether the rating covers jets, immersion, or both. Directly under a showerhead, a combined jet-and-immersion rating is more informative than IPX8 alone.

Mounting over grout or textured tile
Move the holder to a smooth, nonporous area. If the adhesive has already released, replace the pad and do not trust the old one with a phone.
The holder falls
Keep it away from the drain and direct stream. Test the empty mount with weight before inserting the phone. If it falls into water, dry the exterior before opening it so water is not transferred through the seam.
The tissue test fails
Do not insert the phone. Check the latch, gasket, hair, grit, soap residue, wrinkles, cracks, and distorted seals. Repeat with fresh tissue; contact the seller or manufacturer if it still leaks.

Dry the membrane, remove condensation, and use physical buttons or voice controls where possible. Unlock the phone before entering the shower if the membrane interferes with biometrics. Do not press aggressively on a flexible cover.
Water appears when opening
Dry the exterior and latch area first, then open the case away from the shower stream. Retire the pouch if the seal is warped, cracked, or permanently creased.
The safest alternative may be keeping the phone outside
If you only need music or podcasts, place the phone on a dry shelf outside the spray zone and use a waterproof speaker or smart speaker in the shower. This avoids the combined risks of water ingress, condensation, adhesive failure, and accidental drops. It is less suitable if you need to watch video, read instructions, or control the phone visually.
