The best stainless steel steamer is the one that fits the cookware you already own—or, if you want a dedicated vessel, the standalone format that suits your kitchen. Most of the specific stainless steel products documented here are inserts designed for particular pots or cookware collections, so check the maker’s compatibility and dimensions before buying. Choose between a steamer insert and a standalone steamer
A stainless steel steamer insert sits inside or over a compatible saucepan or pot, keeping the food above simmering water.
