Food Network Kitchen’s roundup, updated February 5, 2026, says its team assessed pressure, how much fruit flesh could be juiced, filtering of pulp and seeds, disassembly, and cleaning. Its named picks cover different needs rather than establishing one universal winner:
- KitchenAid Citrus Squeezer — best overall, according to Food Network Kitchen. The review describes a counter-supported press that uses leverage, with a built-in strainer and integrated pour spout.
- Joie Squeeze and Pour Citrus Juicer and Glass — best manual, according to Food Network Kitchen.
- Chef’n LemonDrop — best for cooking, according to Food Network Kitchen. The review said it was sold out when the roundup was updated; check current availability.
- Black+Decker Citrus Juicer — best electric, according to Food Network Kitchen. The review describes small and large cones, adjustable pulp control, and a 32-ounce collection canister. It says removable parts are dishwasher-safe except for the base.
- Proctor Silex Alex’s Lemonade Stand — best for kids, according to Food Network Kitchen.

How the manual designs differ
Reamers: simple, but potentially messy
A reamer’s ridged cone twists into a halved lemon and tears the fruit tissue to release juice. A model with a catcher and strainer can collect juice and hold back seeds, but the twisting motion calls for more dexterity and can be messy. Which? and Epicurious both describe this trade-off.
Epicurious’s September 7, 2022 manual-juicer review featured the OXO Good Grips 2-in-1 Citrus Juicer. Its lemon-and-lime and orange-and-grapefruit reamer attachments also strain, and the set includes a 1.5-cup (350-milliliter) measuring cup; Epicurious says its parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher. This is older review evidence, not confirmation of current availability.

Handheld squeezers: contained, but still hand-powered
Hinged squeezers can keep juice and sticky fruit residue off your hands more effectively than an exposed reamer. Their leverage helps, but the handles still require a firm grip and hand force. Epicurious notes that handheld squeezers can leave some juice behind.
Epicurious also discussed the KitchenAid Citrus Squeezer for its contained juice and counter leverage. Food Network Kitchen’s later review named the KitchenAid squeezer its best overall pick and describes a built-in strainer and pour spout. Those are the publications’ assessments, not a claim that it is the best choice for every user.

A countertop press lets you bear down against a supported base rather than relying only on a small handheld grip. Epicurious cautions that presses can be unstable if not mounted and bulky to store. Check how securely a model sits on your counter and whether you have room to keep it.

When an electric juicer makes sense
Electric juicers handle the repeated pressing or twisting motion, which can help when making larger quantities or when hand mobility is limited. Which? says they need little force and are quick, while also noting the usual trade-offs: a higher price, more noise, a larger footprint, and more involved cleaning than simpler manual tools.

What review testing says about getting more juice
Which? says its best-tested non-electric squeezers averaged about 40% more lemon juice than squeezing by hand alone. That figure is the publication’s average for its tested products, not a promise for every squeezer or lemon; the reviewed page does not state the test year.
In a separate finding, Which? reports that firmly rolling a lemon on a countertop for about 15 seconds increased juice yield by 19% on average in its test. The publication does not state the year on the reviewed page. This is a no-juicer technique to try before cutting the fruit, not a guarantee of a particular yield.

Before settling on a model, check which citrus sizes it accepts, how it handles pulp and seeds, whether it comes apart easily, and which components are dishwasher-safe. Those details vary by product; do not assume a feature applies to every tool in its category.
